We all know that back in the day a lot of people considered giving birth to a daughter as a sin. In the industry we have many families that only have girls in the household. Karisma-Kareena, Shilpa-Shamitta, Kajol-Tanisha just to name a few. A lot of inspirational movies have been made and are being made. What do you all think about a movie that talks about this issue. About how even girls are powerful, strong, and just as convincing as men. Do you think this film would work? Basically it would show and depict the strength and power of a girl child. I would love to see a film on this issue. It sucks how our country once was a country that gave no respect to daughters that were born.

Many such films have been made. But they should make more and better films, where girls are not abused, and do not resort to cheap ways (ONS or prostitution) to make a place for themselves. CDI is the best girl power film in a long time. Girls should be happy for who they are and not be portrayed as bechaaris who had to make place in world just because there was no male heir in family.

For way too long, Indian society was filled with hypocrites who worshiped Devi on one side and killed a baby girl on the other. I hope things are changing for the better now.
As far as the movies are concerned I want to see "Woman Power" in movies being depicted as pride in being a woman. It should be about giving the phrase doing something "like a girl" a new meaning rather than making it another expression of weakness.

I am all for strong women movies. I would love a movie based on the life of Indra Nooyi, CEO of Pepsi. She was born in Chennai and worked in India before going to the US to study. Very inspirational.

This I absolutely agree with. I loved the film LCMD. It was a very powerful film, but it didn't so well. It showed the power of a woman, but it portrayed Rani's character as a 'bechaari' who had to stoop to the level of undignified things.

Girls should never have to resort to such cheap things to show their place in the society. Rather I would like to see a strong woman centric film that depicts the girl going through lots of struggles and obstacles to make her place in society. She shouldn't have to do anything cheap to build her place. Rather her hard work, dedication, education helps build her image in a society that once never expected girls to do much than take care of the household.

Yes CPR.
This is my issue with all these so called women oriented films like Fashion, Satta, LCMD, Aaina, Laadla, Jamai Raja, Jeevan Dhara etc. They portray girl as a bi*ch or prostitute. Or a rundown, tragic figure who only wanted to marry and sit at home but was compelled to do a job.
Most films make having a career or earning for family as a shame.
Or bring in heroic jamai as saviour or to put female in place.

Look at Indra Nooyi, Kiran Shaw and the Chauhan sisters who own Parle Agro. Educated, married, super successful, pride of family and workplace. Chauhan girls have inherited and carried legacy so well.

Women's status is backward still but has improved and Bollywood films should acknowledge that instead of still peddling notion that women go out only when there is no male support or their marriage failed and they compromise on their bodies and character to get opportunities.

I would like to see such films if they keep out excess melodrama and preaching. Giving a message subtly through a strong story is the best.

unfortunately , that's just how indian culture is. May be its getting better little bit, but there is still a long way to go. Indian movies show the same backward mentality. Movies like fashion and heroine show that ambitious girls eventually get trapped in drugs and get involved with married men. women cant be in high top position by their hard work.
I am happily married but still very much independent working woman. I remember when i was visiting india soon after i got married, one of my own family member said " now your honor increases too now that you are married because of your husband" I was like W*F😆

I would love to see a film on said subject.
I agree with you. girl discrimination still happens at places in India. some still thinks if couple has ONLY girl/s then, they are not blessed by God.
My school friend and she had 2 sisters. Her parents were never unhappy for it, but other relatives were. like her Grandma, Grandpa taunted her parents whereas praised other son who had 2 sons. true story. today, these girls are Doctors and her cousins don't even have a degree to call their own. now everyone comes & butter up my friend & her sister saying, Girl child is a blessing. Such a hypocrite world. 🤔
I would love to see a movie on similar lines, Girl making big on her own. proving it to all those hypocrites & at the end, walks away disowning such people. to be with those who appreciates her, celebrates her, values her.
