Anuj,,i agree to u that Raj & Abhi are different persons..they hv different ways to act or behave in same situations.......but i don't think Aalekh was comparing them. alekh said that ..he was not expecting anything form abhi...like he expects from raj. & abhi sh'd not try to become raj. this pointed the difference of thir opinion towards raj & abhi. Abhi is only a teacher for them ..but raj is a mentor.

he was not comparing both but it was his reliance & trust on raj that made him say this. See.... we expect those ppl to help us whom we trust. but abhi is new here. he yet hv to bulid a trust among cadets.. He is friendly..but only being friendly doesn't serves as an effective base of trust & expectations. and this is a genuine thing. It calls for a big deal of time. Remember..when Raj was new for all cadets..they didn't start trusting him from starting...but with the passage of time ..raj built a strong trust among them. abhi also needs time. they hv accepted him as teacher ..but to be a mentor...he has to do much more.

I have a deadline, ten thousand things to do and no clue how i'm going to finish all of them... but here i am because i loved the sequence today.

Hi SHevtal, Thanks for the analysis, and I was busy too plus there was hardly any scene day before.

When Aalekh was being beaten Gaurav was ok... the angst i thought was a bit overdone.... too filmy, if i may say so!

In the begining the scene was fine later it was filmy, agree.

But the scene where he talks to his father was vintage Gaurav.... i wish Abhimanyu would not undermine himself so much.... this cannot shake his belief in non violence, though i can understand why it shook his faith in himself.... there is nothing in this world that makes you feel as helpless as a sttudent's pain.... because they are your own, yet not your own.... so i can see why Abhimanyu would question himself.... but why his belief in non violence?..... a belief in non-violence, built over years and in a contradictory environment, ie a martial institution such as the army, cannot be undermined so easily....

yes the way he talks to his father that too without showing the charac is commendable👏👏 there is no cue to react to. I dont agree that all teachers are like Abhi but wld to have one😉. The non-violence part was good too but he screams in the begining which I didnt like. the whole dialogue could have sounded better in the normal pitch.

To come back to Gaurav, he did the scene well.... the tears, the furrows on the head, the sense of anguish and failure.... the constantly rubbing his eyes and face.... that feeling of restlessness, of not being able to say 'i'm a failure' without hiding your face in certain ways...

Yes he did the scene well. esp 'I could not be your good son.. a great soldier' this is where he is introspecting and the bitter reality is killing him yet he has to face it. There is no one to share that moment of grief. He need a Big Hug and here's it🤗.

Of course, my mom nearly killed it for me by saying when he was crying and i was watching the scene intently 'bahut ro raha hai bechaara.... tissue paper zara paas karna usko'.... but even she admitted that he did the scene well.

Yes ABhi cried a lot yes'day and needs loads of TLC😉😆

Here's to hoping that there are more such scenes from Gaurav!

Yes looking forward to them😳

btw is white and black his fav colors he is always in them. Aree aur bhi rang hai zamane mein😛

as usual nice analysis👏👏...abhimanyu was mindblowing👏👏👏...but me felt ke there was something missing in this scene...his baba sayein....the scene would have been more effective if they had shown his dad also ...saare scene mein , saara waqt , sirf khali phone se baat karna kuch effective nahi laga ...

Shvetal, you may say... "tumhe woh kab achcha nahin lagta..." ... but I think he did that very well .... That helplessness.... why the time is not running by... why waiting outside... why I cant do anything...Moments of stress and helplessness seem to be very long than they actually are... 😊

Hello... teacher in you is writing this part it seems... though I wont link this pain and frustration with only the fact that Alekh was his student or so.... I think there were many layers to this scene... He was helpless and frustrated in the first scene when Alekh was being beaten... But Alekh's comment on the issue..."Aapse koi ummeed bhi nahin thi"... added to that sense of failure... and it became one of the very weak moments of life... where one gets the sense " I am a failure in life...I could not do anyting successfully... I am good for nothing...or as the britishers say " Waste of space"... ... and another layer of it was that he does not believe in violence and all this violence that too for no valid reason added to this pain... that he could not make anybody understand ... neither his father, nor here... neither he could help anyone... nor he could be a good captain, son or prince.... The sense of failure in life from every direction.... as we collect it in the moments of despair...

To come back to Gaurav, he did the scene well.... the tears, the furrows on the head, the sense of anguish and failure.... the constantly rubbing his eyes and face.... that feeling of restlessness, of not being able to say 'i'm a failure' without hiding your face in certain ways...

Infact... when the scene started... and he said.." Baba sa... hum bol rahein hain..' was very very natural.... very real... I loved it... This only one sentence could express where this conversation will be going... his failure, his restlessness and the need to talk to ..... I loved this whole conversation...

And for once, there was quite a bit of light on his face..... the scene was very bright.... but why did the camera not stay, not linger on Abhimanyu's moment of self misery?.... yaad hai Samay ka har moment of loneliness and sorrow.... the scenes would be so much longer, more drawn out.... gave you a sense of character in a minuter way.... the fact that he was sitting on a bed and talking to his father also reminded me of that scene in adhm when he is all alone, when his world has fallen apart, when he discovers that he is adopted.... and Benjamin Gilani comes and consoles him.... this needed to be slower in its rhythm to capture the same tone as that one....

What I think could be added here was two three closeups... without the sound and light effects.... ya camera could have stayed there for long... it could have been even more impressive... but I think cameraman had other things to do as well..😉

Here's to hoping that there are more such scenes from Gaurav!

haan ...next week we will watch one episode together...😉.. and you write analysis from my laptop...oh my laptop cant be so lucky...😛😆

That's exactly what the creative team aimed at - drawing sympathy to Abhimanyu so it's easier for us to forget Rajveer.

And we're falling for the smart trick.

Good acting though, by Abhi, and his character IS nice too. Musical, peaceloving, warm and modest.

Anujkp - good analysis, what clear insights into Abhi and Raj, feel like I know Raj better after reading you.

dear shweta u stole the words right from my mouth. i realised abhi is a guy who hates violence. rite from day1. he did not beat up the goondas troubling naina he just scared them off. he could not shoot a tiger under the command of his father. he thinks it is wrong to kill. he hates wars and bloodshed. well if things can be tackled without violence why resort to it. that's abhi's policy. alekh has questioned abhi's courage to stand up for truth. that was the insecurity that gaurav spoke of in his script. that is what has been troubling him all these yrs. he joined the army to escape from royal influence but he is facing problems here too. he finds this system unjust but cannot do anything against it. why? he knows he can get suspended. and then he will have to go back to his family which he doesn't want to. even raj had his insecurities. then why blame abhi? he has his own way of tackling people. he can calm down angry people like naina in minutes. he made her understand the reason why raj killed naina. he believes in convincing rather than confusing like raj. raj never offers explanation for his action unless and until asked for. abhi is more frank and open. he interacts with the cadets more on a personal not. he looks aggressive but he is not. he is soft hearted and uses subtle methods. isn't this the same abhi who encouraged abhi to fight for neelu? what would raj have done? he would have shouted at alekh for being irresponsible and said that it is hopeless to expect somthing from him and then helped him. abhi did not do that. he directly and personally approached alekh and helped him out. he has the power to make people listen and it does have an effect too. raj too does the same thing but by scolding the cadets. he expects the cadets to understand as they r grown ups but they don't. he thinks cadets of new gen r irresponsible and gives them lectures. from what gehlot said raj is a responsible guy right from his early yrs. if he expects the same from everyone then he is wrong. abhi tries to bridge the gap betn old and new gen. he is not a part of the new gen but understands them way more than raj does. he connects to them thru their viewpoints. he is a senior but still a part of the new gen while raj is more formal and treats them more as students. abhi is more on friendly terms with the cadets so he asks them to call him by his name. both r entirely two different persons and hence i feel that alekh is wrong in comparing them.
finally i must say abhi rocked. those feelings of hurt, desperation, fear were quite visible on his face. for the first time in his life he really wanted to speak to his father heart to heart and pour out all the troubles residing in him all these years. that was a mindblowing performance by abhi yesterday.

Hi Anujkp....nicely put it in words the two different characters of Abhi and Raj...👏👏

Shvetal ....thanks for your usual great analysis, please continue ....😊. It was quite a sad episode ....seeing Abhi s crying reminded me of Samay of ADHM in many scenes...Gaurav seems to be very good when it comes to emotional scenes, very natural , very real😊... Again he proved it, he is a natural born actor ...😳
