Meri Aashiqui and Wuthering Heights

I'm reading a book these days entitled as Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. It has some similarities with Meri Aashiqui. In this book, the hero, Mr. Heathcliff, is the servant of the girl, Catherine. Catherine's father loved him, but mother didn't. Heathcliff is insulted and humiliated for being a servant as well. The girl he falls in love with is Catherine obviously but when she decides to marry someone else, he disappears and returns as a rich and educated man and takes revenge from her family. There are certainly many similarities, and at times Ishani's character does remind me of Catherine. But Heathcliff can't be like Ranveer. Ranveer is far more noble and humble character than he. But probably Heathcliff can't be blamed for that. I haven't finished it yet, but what you all think of it? Would you be glad if the show makers stick to the original tale and turn Ranveer into a negative or a grey shaded character? For me, I'll be more than happy if they do so with logical points without exaggerating. I don't want Ranveer to be a villain, but a grey shaded character would be amazing. It'll be good for Shakti as well, as an actor. Your opinions??

Sory bt i wouldnt wish to see shakti in a negative role...esp when he got a gud show and the main lead character after a span of 10 years in this industry...if it would have been his 2nd or 3rd show as lead than i wouldnt hv minded it...curently shakti needs to establish himself to be known as lead...and at this stage a negative role could surely affect his career graph...

As of nw also i am nt happy with his all time sacrificing roles be it in Pavitra Rishta or Meri Aashiqui...so for Shakti's character turning negative would make me off from this show

don't worry parin... nothing of that sort will happen... turning ranveer negative will make no sense as he himself knows that he will not get his love.

Relax, I didn't mean it go far too literally. With the term "negative" I wanted to say a "grey shaded" character. I don't think a grey shaded character is really a problem to anyone. Most of the characters in literature have been grey shaded: neither good nor evil. Because of the characterization of Ranveer, I feel, he will make it through. They don't need to turn him into a monster, but a little bitter who is a hard nut on the surface but the kindest when you go deeper. After all those who have felt the immense pain are the kindest souls but their tragedy does not let them appreciate the happiness of the world. Or may be they do appreciate it, but are silent because they fight their own battles. These kind of people make our world beautiful. I'm sure, Heathcliff is that kind of person too. Just seems rough on the surface because of his tragedies and ignorance of the evil world, but is kind deep inside and feels things deeply. I feel Ranveer would be amazing if they make him of this kind.

I wonder if the show makers are really going to take our demands seriously. Do they visit the forums? I read it too, but today, that Meri Aashiqui is based on a Novel. To be honest, In India I hardly see creativity in TV, this is why I won't mind this show being inspired from Wuthering Heights. I have loved the book so far, and hopefully shall love further as well. And what I meant by grey shaded, I've explained that in my previous post. :)

its inspired by wuthering nights only
this was made official before the show started
but it doesn't mean they will copy it all
so we should just wait for things to unfold
but being honest,
i would surely prefer ranveer turning the way the hero went in wuthering heights (i have read it a long ago) than seeing him breaking in pieces day by day
also i want more n more of shakti's talent to be showcased here

well i don't think so
if we get to see him always crying being devdas in this show, this too will not help him anyhow
and there are some negative characters whom we love more than the leads in some shows
it just depend on the characterization and the actor's potential
i should not write it here but the best example being shaurya goenka

Thanks for the support, Roopal. I haven't finished it yet, but I'm loving the book. Heathcliff is a fascinating character. But I think he turns completly negative, and I'd like Ranveer to be grey shaded, and not a negative character. :)
