Salman Khan has been on a helping spree for Hero No.1 Govinda of late. But this one special favour is not for real life but reel life. In their forthcoming film together, coming next month, Partner, Salman throughout the film is shown advising and helping the portly actor how to win Katrina's heart.
"Partner tells the story of a poor young man, played by Govinda who has fallen in love with a rich and powerful beauty – Katrina. He dreams of marrying her but it is a tough task for him ahead to even go close to her, going by his appearance and bumbling style. It is then that a rich businessman – Salman - comes to Govinda's rescue and helps him out." Sanjay Chhel, the film's script and dialogue writer spills the beans.
Doesn't all this sound similar to Will Smith starrer Hitch (2005)? "Yes the basic plot is inspired from the Hollywood film but it has been indianised. There are a lot of additions which were not in the original. It is a complete entertainer. Salman is paired with Lara Dutta for the first time." says Sanjay.
Partner is directed by David Dhawan, who has delivered super hits individually with Govinda and Salman. Incidentally, most of his Salman starrers Judwaa, Biwi No.1, Yeh Hai Jalwa, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya?, like Partner have been copied from Hollywood hits.
Govinda has been at the receiving end of Salman's special favours (including weight reduction) in past few months and his comeback to Bollywood is credited to the beefy actor.
What's the Hitch?
Hitch (2005) had Will Smith in the role of a professional date doctor who helps guys win the lady of their dreams. He helps Kevin James throughout the movie to woo his powerful boss, played by Amber Valletta and succeeds. But it is not an easy task for him when it comes to winning the love of the girl (Eva Mendes) he has lost his heart to. The role played by the Oscar nominated actor is essayed by Salman in Partner and those of Kevin James, Eva Mendes and Amber Valletta by Govinda, Lara Dutta and Katrina Kaif respectively.
