Oh my gosh... I didnt read Chapter 8 or 9 as I was busy.
While speaking with my mom earlier, who also reads this story, she told me Rudra died... 😭
I was shocked out of my wits... so I just caught back up with it.
I feel like I was one of the only ones who liked Rudra... 😆
Though now that he's out of the picture... my Arshi feelings are here to stay.

Part 10

"Where were you?"

The voice sent chills straight to her bones. Her little frame tried to hide herself behind the curtain.

"I...Why are you asking that? You know where I was?" She said, her hands fisting the saree ends, not having the strength to look in his eyes.

"Oh. Very well then. I know where you were? But I want to listen that from your shameless mouth." His voice full of loath reached her ears and she lifted her angry eyes at him.

"What do you mean?!"

"I mean, I know where you were but what I don't know is with whom you were?" he laughed, not an ounce of humor present there.

"Have you gone mad! What are you saying?!"

"Why so astonished, Garima? Was this the first time you went out with some man? " He asked as he lifted the glass, filled with amber liquid to his lips.

"You disgusting man! What do you think of me?! Can't provide a meal to me and my daughter and then you have the gall to accuse me of something this cheap?! "

His eyes darkened with anger and he stood up from the chair, the arrow had struck straight where it hurts the most.

"You! You roam around with men and then you come home this late and taunt me of being jobless? " Shashi Gupta roared.

"Think before you speak, Shashi ji. What do you propose me to do when you do nothing but sit here drowning yourself in some grief?! I work! Not like you!" Garima shot back.

"You! You know what women of your kind are being called?!" He wanted to hurt her, and he was hurting!

"Don't! Do not accuse me of something I have not done. I can't help if you think I roam around with men." Garima's misted eyes stared at him. There was no guilt in his eyes. He was not the man she had fallen in love and had married. She no longer knows this man. She wiped her tears, her eyes shining with new determination. She looked at her only solace in this dark phase. Her little girl, scared, standing in one corner. Holding back the tears she walked towards her daughter.

"Khushi, come" Garima extended her hand to Khushi.

Little Khushi's scared eyes looked at her mother's extended hand and then at her face. She lifted her trembling hand and kept it on her mother's hand.

Garima bent and took her in her arms.

"Khushi, you want to live with your Amma, don't you?" Garima asked.

Khushi nodded her head without wasting a second and locked her tiny hands around her mother's neck.

Garima gave a teary smile and embraced her more in her warmth.

Shashi stared at Garima as she started towards the door.

"Dare you take my daughter away!! You can go and carry your colorful life but you can't take my daughter away! " Shashi blasted, his wobbly legs stumbling.

Garima choose not to turn back!

"Khushi, don't go with that woman! She is a cheater. She is cheating her family. She is cheating me, she is cheating you!! "

"Khushi, don't go!"

"You know what your mother is?! She is a cheating wh**e! Don't go with her!"

Khushi tightened her hold around her mother's neck and buried her face in her mother's neck.

"Amma is not a cheater...My Amma is not a cheater..." Khushi whispered softly.

Garima patted her back.

"I am not, Khushi, I am not cheating ... I love you and I love that man, but now that man doesn't deserves my love. Your Amma is not a cheater.." Garima consoled her little girl.

Khushi nodded her head, still tucked inside her mother's neck. A big lump formed in her throat as she tried hard not to cry.

That was the first time she had heard the word wh**e, a word that has made her mother flinch. But she didn't knew the meaning then. But 12 years later as she stood here, in front of this man, his blood red eyes glaring at her, she knew what that word exactly meant.

"Arnav ji, it's not like you think. Let me explain please.." Khushi pleaded.

"Explain?!! What do you want to explain?! You want to recite the whole story of your night with this man?!" He let out through his gritted teeth , his palms fisted trying not to choke her throat with his own hand.

"Arnav ji, listen to me please.."

"Listen?! What should I listen?! It's my fault! It's bloody my fault!! I am at fault for trusting a girl like you. It's my fault."

Khushi flinched back at the loathing she saw in his eyes.

"Mr.Raizada it's nothing like that. Khu,.."

"DON'T!" His ragging eyes looked at the man in front of him. "DON'T YOU DARE OPEN YOUR MOUTH!!!" He turned to look at Khushi. He strode towards her and held her arms in a tight grip.

"Why Khushi?! WHY?! Why you did this?! WHY?!!" He roared on her face.

Khushi just stared at him, her mind just stuck at the loathing she saw in his eyes.

"Why are you quiet now?! SAY SOMETHING DAMMIT!!" He pushed her harshly.

"Leave..." it was just a whisper but Khushi's ear caught that. Her horror stricken face jerked up to look at him. "LEAVE BEFORE I KILL YOU, KHUSHI!!!" He roared.

"No..." Khushi shook her head and ran towards him. "Arnav ji, you can't say that ... Please don't say that. I love yo..."

"NO! Don't you dare say that. Just leave from here, or else I don't know what I will do with you. JUST GO AWAY DAMMIT!!!"

"No..." Khushi sobbed. "I will not leave you. please don't say that..."

Arnav took her hand and wretched it away from his arm.

"I said leave before I kill you." He turned to look at her. "A girl like you can never love anyone. I was gone for just one week and see where you are. Romancing with your new boy friend, aren't you? You! You know what women of your kind are being called?!"

Khushi's blood froze at his last statement, her face paled. Her glassy eyes stared at him. No guilt, just like her father. Just pure loathing.

"Do you know, khushi?"

Khushi closed her ears with her palm.

"No...no ... Don't say that word ... please don't say that word ... I will leave ... I will and never come back but please... please don't say that word... I am not that ... I am not that... " her frantic panicked voice did nothing to calm down his anger.

"I am leaving... I am going ..." Khushi frantically tried to clear her blurry vision and dragged her unsteady legs towards the door.

Arnav's body burned with rage, the anger consuming him as his blood red eyes saw her leaving his farm house.

"I am not that ... I am not that... don't say that word... don't say that..."

Arnav immediately stood up from the recliner and ran towards the bed, where she lay. Doctor had sedated her, saying she is stressed, depressed and need some rest. And has asked him to take care of her, take care of her ... baby.

"Khushi.." Arnav sat beside her and held her arms lightly.

"I am not that... I will leave don't call me that ...My Amma is not cheating ... I will leave..." Khushi withered in the bed, reliving both the nightmares of her life.

"Khushi... open your eyes... what are you talking? Open your eyes, it's just a nightmare... Get up..." Arnav patted her cheek. "Khushi.."

"No ... please ... please..."

"Khushi..." he took her in his arms. "Open your eyes, Khushi. It's just a nightmare ... Please open your eyes..." He held her tightly in his arms, trying to control her wrinkling.

Khushi took a shuddering breath as she relaxed in his arms, her eyes still closed.

Arnav felt her calm down and he pulled away from the hug to look at her.

"Khushi, it was a nightmare.." Arnav said.

Khushi opened her eyes slowly to look at him. Nightmare? It was not a nightmare. It was a reality of her life. She had lived these nightmare. Her misted and tired eyes stared at him. She swallowed the tears and pushed him away. Lying on the bed, she turned her back to him and closed her eyes as silent tears made their way out and sobs left her body.

Arnav saw her ignoring him, he got up, not wanting to stress her more. He entered the poolside and removed his phone to dial a number.

"Di.."

"Chhote, is that really you? I had almost forgot that I have a brother.." Anjali gave a sarcastic laugh.

"Di, please ... It's serious.."

"Serious? My brother calls something serious. This is first. Ok, I am all ear. Start ... "

"What start? I am not going to tell you some story.." Arnav gritted his teeth.

"Oh there you are. Now I believe you are really my Chhote. Now don't shout and say what happened.."

Arnav closed his eyes as he started.

"Di, I married..." Arnav said.

"WHAT?! What do you mean by that?! Married? You mean you married a girl?" Anjali's shocked voice traveled the next side.

"Yes. I think married means exactly that!" Arnav ran his fingers in his thick hair.

"That's a wonderful news, isn't it Chhote? What should I do now? Dance? Oh wait. Why are you telling me this so early? Ek do baccche ho jaate dete. What was the need to tell me?" her sarcasm was back again.

"Stop it, Di. I need your help. I want you to come here. " Arnav said irritate by her sister.

"Now what do you mean by that? "

"Di, I will tell you everything. But first come here."

"But Chhote, you know I can't come. Aryan's school is..."

"I know Di. All I am asking for is one week. Come here for just one week , I need you.."

That did it for Anjali. She knows her brother is egoistic man and for him to ask for help means he is really in need of her.

"Ok, I will inform Aryan's school and take a week's leave. Shyam is not here, he is on a business tour."

"Ok then, you can inform me your arrival details, I will come to pick you."

"Ok.." Anjali said and disconnected the call.

Arnav kept the phone inside his trouser pocket and sat on the chair. He covered his face with his palm. What is he supposed to do now? How is he going to accept that child? Rudra's child. A child because of whom Khushi married him. Because she thinks he will harm the baby. Today he almost ... He should control himself. Doctor had said Khushi is in depression, he should not stress her more. He can love her ignoring that baby. He will just ignore the baby and everything will be fine. He tried to console himself but the weight on his chest refused to fade. He fisted his palm. Why? How can Khushi do this to him? She loved him, then how? Doesn't she love him? She does. She is just denying because of the hurtful things he had said to her. She still loves him. He just need to remind her his love.

He looked at the broken guitar near his leg and like a strong wave , everything was washed away and what flooded his mind was her need for her baby . She loves that baby. But what should he do? He can't put himself to love that baby. How can he love that baby? A symbol which will remind him that... that,... He closed his eyes, a pain shot from deep inside his chest.

He walked towards the room and stood by the poolside door. He looked at her sleeping form. In her sleep too her hand was protectively around her baby. Taking a deep breath he entered the room. He sat near her. Was this his punishment for not trusting her? He looked at her stomach and his lips broke into a smile. People say babies are symbol of love. But this baby will be the constant reminder of his past. A past where he had butchered his love with his own hand, a past where his Khushi was not his.

He took her hand, which was on her stomach, in his. He don't know what he will feel for this baby but if this baby means the world for Khushi then he will do everything to keep her world safe.
