Govinda not read to star in Salman Khan's film?

Salman Khan will be remaking Mahesh Manjrekar's Marathi film 'Shikshanacha Aaichya Gho' in Hindi. The actor has also agreed to play an important role in the film, which was on hold for nearly two and a half years. But there is a hitch. Govinda, whom Salman and Mahesh have asked to play the central role, is yet to give his nod. This comes as a big surprise as Salman and Govinda had been as thick as thieves since they co-starred in 'Partner'.

Not too long ago, Govinda would be seen spending long hours with Salman at the latter's house at Galaxy Apartments, Bandstand. The inseparable duo was also spotted enjoying auto rickshaw rides at wee hours of the night. Then came Dabangg.

The story goes that the relationship between the partners soured when Salman, instead of launching Govinda's daughter Namrata as was planned, launched Shatrughan Sinha's daughter, Sonakshi.However, they eventually let bygones be bygones. Salman even visited Govinda's Juhu residence to discuss a project a few days back.

But it seems it might still take some more time for things to become hunky-dory between the two. A source explained, "Govinda is not too keen to do the film as he feels that it is too arty for his taste. And this is purely Govinda's personal perception." The source went on to add: "Also, the role offered to him is that of an ambitious and aggressive father and Govinda feels that his temperament and demeanour does not suite the part."

Salman was contemplating giving some dates to Manjrekar's film while he was shooting for Sajid Nadiadwala's 'Kick' but that did not happen. Perhaps Govinda's cold feet were the reason. However, Salman and Manjrekar, who have worked together in Wanted, Ready and Bodyguard in the recent past, are hoping that Govinda will eventually bite the bait.

They have had multiple meetings with the actor regarding the project. The film is scheduled to go on floors early next year.
