Money? They are from different eras dude! And in Big B's time Indian economy had not opened up. He was the richest star and his name translated into gold at his peak.

In fact the ways through which today's stars make money, those trends were started by him - doing stage shows, world tours, taking share in profits of films etc.

It is like saying Ashok Kumar was not a star at all because he got only 10K rupees as salary or his net worth is less than others after him!

SRK has made it in era of liberalisation when Indian economy was growing rapidly.

Net worth is no way to rate actors and stars. Amitabh is the only oldie who features in top tax payers lists till date. He's made up even in this age.

Talking of money, Rajendra Kumar was the richest star of his time. Nobody gives a damn about him now either as an actor or a star. So money alone decides nothing in merit.

As world is changing, actors will earn more. Today even TV actors get over a lakh per episode if they are popular!
