Hey friends, here I am with the next update 😃
EK ANOKHI KAHAANI - Part 48
Aastha was trembling seeing the huge disgusting figure in front of her. That man was slowly coming closer and closer towards her. And to add to her bad luck, it began drizzling. If Aastha ran away, he would easily get to her. Now the only option was to get to the car. "You need to get into the car and lock the door from inside. C'mon Aastha! You can do it! Run!!" she told herself and ran towards the car as fast as she could. The man followed her. She reached the car. The man was fast approaching. She held the key in her trembling hands and was about to put it into the key hole but the key slipped from her hand and fell down. As Aastha bent down to pick up the key, the man pulled her towards him tightly holding her arms. His hold was too tight and hurting her. "Aah!!" she cried. Tears were rolling down her eyes. "Shlok!!!" she called out, but he was not there to hear her cry. She was crying, constantly trying to free herself from the man's grip. "Leave me!!" she cried as the man was looking greedily at her. The man pulled her towards his body and was about to kiss her when she bit his hand hard and relieved herself from his grip. Before he could recover from the pain, she pushed him hard. He fell to the ground. Before he got up, Aastha quickly picked up the keys and unlocked the door. She got into the car and tried to close the door but the man pulled the door from outside. With much effort, finally Aastha managed to close the door but before she could lock it, the man opened it and pulled Aastha out with force. Aastha fell down on the wet road. She was half-wet in the drizzling rain. Her dress soiled due to the mud. She turned to see the man hovering over her. Aastha pushed herself backward creeping over the road. She couldn't believe this was happening to her. She cried out for Shlok again, "Shlok!!" she cried at the top of her voice. He was long gone. "No!! You can't do this!!" he said as the man crept closer. Aastha was clenching her dupatta in scare. He got hold of it and pulled it but Aastha didn't let it go. The man then snatched the dupatta with all his might as his nails scratched her shoulder and neck and one of her sleeves and the dress over her shoulder tore off. "No!!! Please!!" Aastha was crying as the man laughed at her helplessness. He tied the dupatta around his waist and kissed in air teasing Aastha. "Please!!! Pleeaasee let me go!! For God sake!!... Please!! Don't..." cried Aastha. The man was craving for her body and he leaped onto her. Aastha tried to push him away but in vain. He pinned both her hands on the the road. "No... This can't happen!!" Aastha's body became numb. The tears in her eyes made everything hazy. "Shlok!!" she scramed at the top of her voice. "Shlok!! Please come back!! Please!!!" she cried again. And then she felt the whole weight of the man on her body as the man fell over her. She couldn't breathe... she couldn't shout any more!! The man's grip on her wrists had loosened. And then to her most pleasant surprise, she saw Shlok looking over her.
Now Aastha understood that the man fell on her body because Shlok had hit on his head. Shlok was saying something but she was not in a condition to understand. Shlok held the man by his collar and gave him a tight slap. The man ran away. Shlok followed him to some distance but returned to Aastha as she needed him at the moment. She was in a miserable condition. By the time Shlok came back, Aastha had stood up. She was in shock. The moment she saw Shlok, she ran to him and just hugged him as tightly as she could. She was crying, her body was shivering. Shlok initially hesitated to hold her, but then he hugged her back. He held her tight. The warmth of his embrace was soothing. Aastha would stay there for her whole life! She was breathless as she cried constantly. She sobbed badly. Shlok tried to comfort her by rubbing her body continuously. He didn't say anything. They both just stood there silently, in the midst of the darkness, embracing each other. There was no chance of the moon shedding its light on them as the sky was covered by clouds. But the shovers were there to bless them.
Shlok waited for Aastha to calm down a bit. He then gently pushed her away, but she had clutched his shirt tightly with both her hands and was not ready to leave him. Shlok understood what she was going through. This was the most horrible incident that can happen with any girl. Shlok looked at Aastha. She was still in shock, and he knew it would take some time for her to recover from it. "Why did you leave me alone?!!" she said suddenly, "I was telling you that I was scared..." she was crying again, "why..." she sobbed, "why didn't you take me with you?! What if anything had happened to me?! I was..." and she hugged him again, crying. Shlok caressed her. He felt guilty for what had happened. "I am sorry Aastha, I am very sorry! I had never ever thought something like this would happen..." he said, "But now I am here! You don't need to worry... Okay!" Aastha nodded while crying. She didn't want to leave Shlok at any cost now. She felt safe with him, safer than ever!
"Aastha" said Shlok, "come, drink some water!" Shlok and Aastha walked to the car. Shlok took out the bottle of water. Aastha gulped down some water. Her throat was dry and paining. Her eyes were red and swollen. They were burning. She was weak, exhausted. The tears couldn't stop flowing down. Shlok saw that Aastha wasn't wearing a dupatta and her dress was torn. He quickly took off his coat and put it on her shoulders. While doing that, he noticed the scratches and bruises on Aastha's neck and shoulders. He closed his eyes and sighed sadly. Aastha was silent, but she had not overcome the dreadful moments. She was in trauma. "Aastha, sit in the car..." said Shlok as he opened the door for her. She got in and as he was about to close the door, Aastha said in scare, "Don't go anywhere please!!" She was breathing heavily at the thought of Shlok going away leaving her again. Shlok held her trembling hands and assured her that he was not going anywhere.
Shlok tried to call Rahul for help, but Rahul's phone was still switched off. Shlok checked the time. It was 9:45. But it seemed the meeting was still not over. Shlok had not gone further when he had sensed something was wrong with Aastha and he had come back immediately. So he never reached the shop on the way. Now they had to wait for Rahul's meeting to get over so that they could ask for help. Shlok tried to stop a couple of two-wheelers passing by but in vain. Then he saw a van coming and signalled asking for lift. The driver stopped the van. Shlok quickly took out their baggage from the car and loaded it onto the carrier over the van. Aastha had constantly clutched his shirt in her hand and was always with him. The van had travellers already. There was space enough for a single person at the back and some space in front beside the driver. Shlok told Aastha to sit at the back. Aastha looked into the van. All men sitting inside. Aastha didn't wish to sit among all men. But she didn't know how to tell this to Shlok. Aastha just stood on the road clutching Shlok's shirt. Shlok moved to the front to sit beside the driver and his shirt escaped Aastha's grip. Aastha missed a beat. She felt as if she was left all alone again. Shlok looked at her wondering why she wasn't getting in, and then the realisation dawned on him. He came and stood beside her. She felt better as she clutched his shirt again. Shlok looked at her fingers holding his shirt tightly and smiled. He requested that someone sitting behind could go and occupy the place beside the driver. One of the men agreed. Finally Shlok and Aastha got into the van and sat beside each other.
There were two long seats opposite to each other. Shlok noticed that Aastha without her dupatta, her scratches and her torn dress revealing her shoulder was proving to be a treat for their co-passengers to watch. He tried to pull away his coat from Aastha that covered her back. Aastha was shocked at Shlok's act. What was he doing? She tried to pull back the coat but Shlok was stronger. He now covered the coat over Aastha from the front like a blanket. Aastha's eyes watered. He cared so much for her! But she was still not comfortable as the men around were still gazing at her continuously. She moved more and more to Shlok's side. Shlok could feel her discomfort. The others constantly gazing at Aastha irked him. He put his hand around Aastha's shloulder and pulled her closer to announce to the men that Aastha was his property and that they had no right to stare at her. The men instantly looked away from her. Aastha rested her head on Shlok's shoulder clutching his sleeve tightly. She felt safe now. She couldn't forget what a horrible night this was for her and she shivered occasionally on recalling all that had happened. Shlok could feel her body shiver... he just held her close.
One by one, the passengers got down at their respective stops. Finally, all the passengers got down and the driver told Shlok that this was the last stop on his way. Shlok told the driver that their hotel was still further and pleaded him to drop them there. After a lot of pleading and promising to offer good money, the driver agreed. Now only Shlok and Aastha were there in the van along with the driver. Shlok suddenly realised that he was still holding Aastha. He pulled back his hand at once. Aastha too sat straight drawing back her head from his shoulder. But she still clutched the sleeve of his shirt.
The driver put on the radio and a song started playing, a song that suited Shlok and Aastha perfectly...
Kehne ko jashn-e-bahaara hai, ishq yeh dekhke hairaan hai
(there is blossom in the environment just to say, but love is wondering after seeing this)
Phool se khushbu khafa khafa hai gulshan mein
(that the fragrance is displeased with flowers in the garden)
Chhupa hai koi ranj fiza ki chilman mein
(there is some grief hidden in the environmant)
Saare sehme nazaare hain, soye soye waqt ke dhaare hain
(all the sights are in fear, and the time is like slept)
Aur dil mein koi khoyi si baten hain
(and there are some lost things in the heart)
Kaise kahen kya hai sitam, sochte hai abb yeh hum
(how to say what kind of injustice is this, i am thinking about this now)
Koi kaise kahe woh hain ya nahin humaare
(how can anybody tell whether he/she is mine)
Karte toh hain saath safar, faasle hain phir bhi magar
(we are travelling together, but still there is distance between us)
Jaise milte nahin kisi dariya ke do kinaare
(like the two sides of river never meet)
Paas hain phir bhi paas nahin, humko yeh gum raas nahin
(we are together but not actually together, this grief is not acceptable by me)
Sheeshe ki ik diwaar hai jaise darmiyaan
(there is like a wall of glass between us)
Hum ne jo tha nagma suna, dil ne tha usako chuna
(the song which i had heard, was selected by my heart)
Yeh daastaan humein waqt ne kaisi sunaai
(but what story the time has told to me)
Hum jo agar hai gumgin, woh bhi udhar khush toh nahin
(if i am in grief here, he/she is also not happy there)
Mulaakaaton mein jaise ghul si gayi tanhayi
(like there is loneliness in our conversations)
Mil ke bhi hum milate nahin, khil ke bhi gul khilate nahin
(we meet yet we don't, the roses bloom yet don't)
Aankhon mein hai bahaaren, dil mein khija
(my eyes see the beautiful vista, but the heart is broken)
Shlok and Aastha both felt as if the song was written for them. They stole glances, they could feel every line, every word of the song... They understood each other very well and they knew it. They only wished that destiny never drifted them apart...
