I mean Dhritrashtra had asked him to gamble, and not to gamble till eternity. It was Dury and Shakuni who said that he has right over his brothers and hence he can stake them and probably win back all that he lost and as we know Yudi complied.
In my opinion he gambled further for his ego more as compared to his will to obey his elders. Just my opinion. Others might think differently

dear dont u think we both r saying the same thing cz im saing yudhi was wrong & even u r saying he is wrong i dont care bout his reasos following elders or addiction or ego or anything its just he was wrong very wrong to stake paanchali that's all.

good post shreepitha, ramjanaki and medha.I agree with many points of yourposts. I liked medha explanation of intention. I agree with shree explanation of dice game being a blot on pandavas. also ramjanaki statement abt "morality ". something that is technically correct is not always morally right

Hi all,
I have been a silent reader all this while, but couldn hold back today. I believe, that it was not pandavas or any other men in the assembly hall who wronged her, it was mahavishnu .
And not just Draupadi but Sita before her too was wronged by him.

Let me explain how, mahavishnu being one the Trimurti, has the responsibility of protecting Mother Earth, at the time of yugantar or changeover between yugas he usually takes an avatar to wipe out the dominant race as they get out of control, corrupted by the power they have gained over others.
Parshuram did this with Kshatriyas, Rama with asuras in treta yuga, and Krishna with Kshatriyas in dwaparavyuga.

And to bring out this cleansing he uses a woman as catalyst. For Parshuram it was his widowed mother doing sati, for Rama it was Sita abduction by Ravenna and Krishna used Draupadi vastraharan as an excuse
You would notice that with each avatar things get progressively worse. 1st widowhood and sati, then kidnapping and imprisonment and then disrobing and abuse, . I believe in kaliyuga also the kalki avatar will use a woman as a catalyst to wage his dharmayudh or purge, but I shudder to think what worse things she would have to go through to justify it.

I accept that for greater good, sacrifices have to be made, so renuka ( Parshuram,s mother) Sita and Draupadi did it

But what makes the woman in me upset is what happens after the dharmayudha, pregnant Sita is abandoned, to raise her children alone, she does that and when the children have grown up are conveniently taken away to be kings but she is not accepted and has to finally commit suicide.
Panchali lives a lonely life for 36 years bereft of her children, while pandavas run away from her because she was the reason for the war they don't want to look at her and be reminded ( bhim a Arjuna Nakuru and sahadeva use ashwamedha horse as pretext to go as far away to the four corners of the earth as possible. And yudhishtir does his austerities and sadhu seva, when ashwamedha is over, they bring along the other wives why to have excuses to avoid her, and finally she dies brutally all alone while her husbands ( except bhim a) walk away without as much as stopping to hold her hand while she dies. ( why does bhim a come back, because of his guilt of abandoning hidimba, as much as so called love which every one talks about)

What I want to know is that both Sita or Draupadi have not committed any sin in their previous births to justify this horror sacrifice asked from them. But they do it accepting it as their destiny for the greater good. So why doesn't lord Vishnu reward them. Why does their torture not end with the dharmayudhA.

If Sita live alone in Lanka for year, so did Rama, then why only she had to prove her chastity why not Rama .
I simply can't understand that if yudhishtir mistake of Staking Draupadi or lying to drona on battlefield can be forgiven then why not Draupadi,s mistake of loving Arjuna more.

So after dharmayudha the man / men involved are either not punished or are rewarded. But the woman bore the horror on herself to establish dharma is not rewarded, but rather punished
What is a bigger sin, gambling and lying or loving someone more than others
