It is a well known fact that when a theme or storyline becomes a hit, it happens to become a trend. At one time, shows with a love hate relationship, moving on to the Jab We Met hotel scene etc became a huge hit with the audiences and then was seen on a lot of TV shows.

These days the latest trend is either launching new TV shows based on a Muslim community, or adding a new track on the show, featuring the same.

One of the very first Indian television shows, which saw a Muslim community based theme was the 1998 hit show Heena by Cinevistaas, on Sony TV. The show which starred Simone Singh, Rahul Bhatt and Vaquar Sheikh was based on the trials and tribulations in the life of a woman.

In 2007 Sony TV yet again launched another show based on an Indian Muslim girl Khwaish. The show featured Priya Bhatija, Yasir Shah and Sumit Sachdev as the lead actors. The show revolved around Afreen, who got married into a wealthy and respectable family, and how circumstances lead Afreen to marry her brother-in-law.

Star Plus had also tried their hand at a Muslim based show Sajda Tere Pyaar Mein, which was launched in 2012. Deblina Chatterjee, Shaleen Bhanot and Rohit Roy were seen as the leads of the show. The story was about Aliyaa and her patriotism which was put to the test as she took on terrorists. Unfortunately the show ended after 5 months, due to low TRPs in spite of a good, unique concept.

A few months after Sajda Tere Pyaar Mein was taken off air, yet another show was introduced, which focused on the Muslim community and aims to dispel stereotypes regarding Islam Qubool Hai. The Zee TV show which was launched with Surbhi Jyoti, Karan Singh Grover and Rishab Sinha as the original leads was highly appreciated by the fans. The story which started in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India, has been now shifted temporarily to Punjab, India in April 2014 after the 20 year leap focusing on the life of Asad and Zoya's daughter, Sanam, which is still doing really very well.

Looking at the success of Qubool Hai, Colors TV also launched a Muslim-based social background drama Beintehaa. Many had speculated whether the show would be able to catch the viewer's glance, after several others were unsuccessful. But Beintehaa proved them all wrong, as the show soon managed to climb the ladder of success and is currently very much loved and appreciated by fans for its unique storyline. Preetika Rao and Harshad Arora are seen playing relatives and rivals Aaliya and Zain, who later get married to each other.

While these shows mainly focused on the Muslim community, many others did try a sideline story. Zee TV's show Hitler Didi did once show a parallel track of how the protagonist Indira played by Rati Pandey, turned up in a jail in Pakistan. Also the Star Plus show Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara is currently focusing on the look alike of Pankhuri (Disha Parmar) Ayesha Khan, who has entered the life of Aditya (Nakuul Mehta). The recent show to adapt to a Muslim background story is Colors TV's Uttaran, which will soon shift focus to Pakistan, where Meethi (Tina Dutta), will land up and begin her new life.

Well these were just a few shows to mention, as the list can go on and on. Whenever a trend hits the screen, it shows across all the TV channels. Soon yet another trend will hit the screens, so until then enjoy the latest trend.
