"Everything I Do Is From The Movies I've Seen" - Mohit Suri

Since the release of the film's full length trailer, Ek Villain has been under the scrutiny for being similar to the Korean film I Saw The Devil. The spine chilling movie is deemed to be the source of the film's prime plot. On being asked about whether Ek Villain is adapted out of the Korean flick, the film's lead man Sidharth Malhotra reacted with a cool, "I have not seen that film actually. I have also been hearing about this. When I see it, I will let you know whether it is. As far as I know, it is an original writing by Tushar Hiranandani andMohit Suri. I have no clue about the film in question."

However, when Koimoi contacted Mohit Suri about the novelty of his film, asking how similar is Ek Villain withI Saw The Devil, the filmmaker said, "I don't pretend to be an original in any form. To be honest, everything I put in my films is from films I have seen, the books that I have read or the life that I have lived. I wasn't born with a story in my head. But I am willing to take the onus not for anything else but it is unfair that a dialogue which is similar to another film is being accused to my writers. This would go more to my writers than to me."

Mohit continued with, "Even inAashiqui 2, the scene where Shraddha Kapoor says that main uski liye girti parti rahungi' is inspired out of Sahib, Biwi Aur Ghulam. Everything I do is from some inspiration. In Woh Lamhe where he walks into the set, is the classic Pyaasa shot. In Aashiqui 2 where the guy is down and looking is from The Artist. They are all classic frames you get from somewhere. Everything I do is from the movies I have seen and what I have done. But when one watches the original film, the similarity is negligible barring the fact that it is vendetta story and the dialogue is obviously similar. Besides that there are completely different characters. There is nothing much to clear here because the more I justify, the more it will seem like I am trying to clear something."

Despite Mohit not claiming originality, it is undeniable that Suri makes engaging films. Rumors about the film's plot line read that Shraddha is killed 15 minutes into the film and runs on reverse narration. While protagonist Sidharth Malhotra plans on avenging the death of Shraddha, Riteish Deshmukh plays the cold blooded murderer.

However, the film's climax is no run-in-the-mill affair with a sensational twist in the tale. Though it is all mainly reports that have been doing round in the media and the rumored story might not be true at all.
