Periphrasis of a Petrel!

Every girl has three personalities. 1. The one when she's with her family. 2. The one when she's with her friends. 3. The one when she's with him.

Part-3:

"My son-in-law is in Delhi now, in a conference. He is arriving tomorrow. You know, we've arranged for a function. It's my grand-child's name giving ceremony next week!"

'I've heard this line already, haven't I?

"That's why I went to that shop and fortunately you were there to save me!"

"Oh! It's nothing ma! Take some rest!"

"He will scold me if he knows about this!"

"Ma, Can you give me some one's number in the house, so I can inform them?"

"OH, Beta! She is alone in the house with the child. I came out without considering her words. Please don't tell her about this!"

"I see!"

"Take my mobile, dear! You can inform my second daughter! She will be in the office now!"

"Right! I'll call her from my mobile. If I use yours she'll get tense."

In this way he got her number in his mobile!

She rushed into the hospital, even her hand bag weighed a ton, let alone her legs.

She started running through the corridors.

'Oh, God! Why should this corridor be this much long?'

She turned a corner and dashed into him!

"Oh!"

"I'm sorry!"

He was about to move away, but she was clinging to him.

"You know, Maa-" She started crying.

He got everything in a flash!

"It's ok! See, she is all right now!"

"You know, she has low B.P! After daddy- How many times we've told her, not to go out alone! She didn't care a word-"

"See, it's nothing, just a fainting spell!"

"How do you know about her?"

"I was the one who called you!"

She showed no interest at that.

"You don't know her, she-"

"Shh! Stop crying! Everybody is watching you!"

That caught her attention.

She stepped away from him, dried her eyes gently and looked him questioningly.

"There is a good girl!" He encouraged.

She glanced at the surroundings and when found none was watching them, she looked him and smiled.

"She won't do anything like this, after this experience!" He assured her.

She nodded.

"She is over there!"

They both entered the room as her mother smiled at her.

"Ma, how are you feeling now?"

"I'm fine, dear!"

She reached the bed and the sight that her mother was in a hospital bed, triggered her tears, yet again.

She turned away to hide the tears from her mother.

"Uh, did the nurse come again?

He inquired her mother to engage her in conversation.

"No, I just closed my eyes after you left!"

"In fact you don't need a nurse now! See, your daughter is checking your medicines!"

She picked up some medicines, on cue.

She hastily wiped the tears and turned to face them.

"Maa, you know he is a police man! That's why he is easily handling the situations!" She said as she saw the tear marks and wrinkles on his shirt near the chest.

"Do you know him already?"

Her mother exclaimed.

"Oh, we met in the corridor and talked some. That's all!"

He cut in and explained on the thought that her mother would misapprehend her, if she and her brother-in -law had forgotten to explain her mother about their first meeting in the mall.

But she said," Maa, I forgot to tell you one thing!"

She started, excitedly.

He felt embarrassed.

'Why should she explain it to her mother now?'

"He is the one who Indhar-ji and I met at the mall!"

She finished and both the mother and the daughter started laughing at him.

'Very well!' He smiled back.

Once finished, her mother asked hesitantly.

"You've taken leave for the rest of the afternoon, right?"

She nodded.

"We can go home in the evening together and don't tell your sister about this, right?"

Her mother asked her like a child.

"Yes! Now go back to sleep!"

He admired at her transformation from a mischievous girl to a concerning mother like figure, in an instant.

'Wow! She's just impossible!"

'This can't be the same girl who ran out into the corridors of a mall out of excitation, who came to his house one morning running away from a dog!'

'Even today, she cried like a missing girl in the corridors, now once entered into room she has changed completely!'

'How can she take hold of more characters in no time?'

He heard his name was uttered and that brought him back to the present.

"...You should come to the function!"

"Oh, sure! You take care!"

She laughed shyly to herself. She was reading some novel, but could not concentrate in to the story, at all. Again she started laughing.

"Is it that much hilarious?" Her sister asked.

"Uh,- Yes, it s!"

She checked herself and looked the book with a serious face.

She had trouble to hide her feelings from her sister. It was disturbing her that she could not tell the incidents occurred in the hospital to her sister.

She waited till her sister went away to see her child, then the hospital scenes panned out in front of her eyes, yet again, where she dashed against him yet again and once knew that who it was, started crying on his chest...

'You fool! How could you do that with a stranger?'

In fact, he was explaining her, the situation and comforted her, she remembered.

Strange!

Everything about him was strange, too!

How he explained them the situation in a single sentence, in a simple sentence!

'I'm a police man!'

He said it not only proudly, but also matter -of -factly.

'Everybody is watching you!'

She blushed and tried hard to hide those red balls glittering on her cheeks before anyone saw them.
