Her movie graph has witnessed a meteoric rise in the past two years - From an accented South Indian lass to the outspoken Leela of last year's blockbuster Ram Leela, the girl delights in pushing the envelope yet further with every consecutive release.
Because she refused to cling on to SRK post her debut
Starring opposite SRK may have made for a dream debut, but Deepika refused to cling on to her benefactor post OSO, choosing instead to forge her own path. With the result that when they reunited for Chennai Express, Deepika was a star in her own right.
Because she doesn't believe in fighting fire with fire.
When being asked what she thought about the catty comments that colleague Sonam Kapoor had passed on her on a popular chat show, Deepika politely demurred from answering.

Thought she could totally rock a bikini after Cocktail? We thought so, until we saw her in full desi splendor in Chennai Express and later RamLeela.
