It's that indian soap opera mentality. A male and female leads in india soap opera must fall in love. 😆
loved your post.

This show's name says it all: Ek hasina thi. After watching the show. we know it's a revenge story. And to have a revenge you need bad guys/gals. In this case the Goenka family. They are all so damn good at being bad. I love Shaurya as a negative character. he is so vicious and does not care for his wants/desires. That's why I love to hate him. His parents are as evil as him and who can go to any lengths to keep their status in the world.

As far as Durga, I am glad they have introduced Dev's character. She needs some love, some positive in her life and Dev might bring it to her if she allows him.

See the show needs a postive protaganist also I feel Dev's character was mainly introduced to counter Shaurya's reverse psychology.

If Dev is not there Shaurya ignoring Durga can weaken her, I mean she needs justice and for that she needs to make her weakness of Shaurya and no other way around. At this point as I see it directly or indirectly Dev gives her an upper hand in this department. Shaurya's reverse pshychology is working on him. Dev is forced to chase Durga for getting details about Payal.
For Dev-Durga romance to start I somehow feel they both need to re discover their relationship on where they left. There was a lot unspoken between them though it is sure that there feelings were more than platonic. Maybe class difference made them not open up completely.
Also Dev's redemption that needs to be shown properly. He was not there for Nithya when she needed him. So he has to prove himself that he can support her in her fight as it is against his family.
Because Dev rising above the family consideration is also part of the plot as everytime between truth and family, family's EB work.
So for the time being I am enjoying it for what it is.

@Anjana

Life partner, parents, siblings, friends, kids, loving in laws etc., are all blessings. But what I meant was that I do not like serials getting sidetracked from their main issues. I'm sure a Dev was needed to balance negativity of men like Shaurya, his friends and Rajnath. But I hope story and quest for justice does not get watered down for romance.

I also get wary of IF junta obsession for romance...so many serials and forums got ruined (for me) with this jodi, romance stuff and nothing else except ATs and fan fictions on jodis.

Serials IMO are stories and should focus on their theme. I'm not interested in seeing love life or family sagas of special forces in crime/army shows, leaving behind history to show only love story of a king/queen or in this case any compromise in showing the past or stopping this revenge/justice mission.

Durga already gets double minded at times and feels guilty when someone innocent gets "hurt" in her quest to expose wrongdoers. I only hope Dev does not weaken her resolve.

I'm quite curious how a rich scion shared such close relationship with a driver's daughter. And why driver allowed his girls to run in and out of Goenka mansion? I mean he'd have an idea of what a tharki his maalik and one of the boys were!

Finally my POV is that you don't have jodis or romance in CDI, TZP or Kahani...there are times when stories, subject matter are more important than details of personal lives.

I have vague memories of Shanti. But all I know is that it was gripping till they got into romantic liasons, marriages of lead and men linked to her.

As a human being, in her life Durga has missed out on a lot of things. And Payal even more. I'd of course like them to have everything. But kind of characters they are now...I see nothing else except justice as their first priority. Only that can make them free, unburdened enough to enjoy other bliss offered by life.

@atominis even I am curious to know more about Dev-Nithya. I mean Goenka's wouldnt have cared what Dev or Shaurya did as long as it didnt affect them, but Nithya's parents they were middle class people with middle class values, how did they allow the rich scion a free entry to their home.
I mean didnt they warn Nithya to keep a distance from Dev or is it because it was told it some epi that they were searching for marriage alliance for her. Maybe they understood that there is no point talking to Nithya to break her friendship with Dev so the next best option was to marry her off.
Also if this guy was this cosy with Nithya wouldnt it have affected her marriage prospects as in India for middle class people a lot of value is placed on girl having no affair before marriage etc etc..
Dev seems to have lot of freedom in Nithya's house. I mean the flashback of diary , they were quite cosy in Nithya's room with pizza, movie 😆😆. Friendship well def it was something more and I would want to know more about them. To be frank Dev/Nithya scenes remind me a lot about Malyalam blockbuster Niram which was a romantic roller coaster
At this juncture I am loving their Tom N Jerry and Dev being a foil for Shaurya's reverse psychology😆😆

Durga is a strong woman. She doesn't need a male lead to carry the show. A woman lead is strong enough.

Regardless of whether it's Shaurya or Dev, it doesn't matter. Durga is the true lead of this show!

@bol---so true.
totally second u here. durga doesn't need anyone infact i am least interested in the luv story of dev and durga.
durga has a mission to accomplish and i don't want her to get distracted.

This show comes with the hope of a change in Indian Television, where everything is dominated by TRPs and stupid chemistry.
Hope they don't change the theme
