Yes! And that is exactly what is refreshing about this show! Durga is a strong woman and is very much capable of handling everythng by herself. She makes me feel proud, and i hope she never ever depends onanyone, coz that wil nt exactly be in favour of her character.

As much as I agree with you on the point that Durga does not need a hero( she is a strong woman capable of fighting for justice in her own way), I disagree with you completely on the example of Baldev you have brought in to exemplify your point. As I have watched Veera both pre-leap and post-leap, I have not found Baldev do anything disgusting or anything horrible as you term. There were certain times when he has pulled her arms in anger but Veera has always retaliated by stamping his foot which is equally painful (may be more). Baldev has always been shown as a chauvinist to show how pind brought up men have this kind of mentality. Veera hasnt fallen in love with Baldev the last time I saw that show. I have NOT seen him woo a girl or look at any woman in a disgusting manner. He has always helped Veera when she needed help. Baldev is not clean I agree. But if TV shows are to show ideal men who do not exist, it spreads falsehood and nothing else.

Sorry I did not mean offend you.

Ek Hasina Thi is a superb show👏

@apz: completely agree with what yu said!

Agree with most on this thread that this is one show that does not require a male lead. I do, however, think we need Dev to balance out Shaurya. Not in a sidekick role, but as a positive romantic protagonist. Firstly to counter any stereotypes about all rich spoiled men being chauvinist predators and to bring out the vulnerable feminine side of Durga...the Nitya still alive in her somewhere. We see the good daughter in her as she interacts with Baba, the good sister through her relation with Payal...good friend through her genuine friendships with other victims like the commissioner's daughter & sagarika. On a similar vain the presence of Dev adds another layer to the identity of Durga. Its better to have a whole woman that we have instead of some one dimensional individual obsessed with revenge.

so far all the characters in the EHT seems significant part of the story..and in this show leads are not on the same side but are opposite and they being in the opposite camps brings the novelty to this show..as far Dev is concerned let's see how Cv's develop his character.

I agree we need positive male to balance the negativity of male antagonist. Though positive examples of men have been shown with Dayal and Akash.
But I disagree with this notion of man needed to make woman whole and vice versa. These days essence of many shows is ruined by introducing romance (they even have "luv" in crime shows like Arjun and hint at love interests for Abhijit and Daya and CID).

Dev needs lot of character development before so called romance happens. He has to justify himself, redeem himself for not being there when all this happened, was there no internet that he could neither keep in touch with Nitya nor learn about this case. He has to show more strength and confidence - being firm instead of getting silenced by dialogues of his mom or Sakshi and Rajnath. I want to see him investigate matters himself than just try to chase and pin down Durga. Finally I feel it is absolutely necessary that angle of Sakshi-Rajnath involvement in his father's death is introduced or else it would be very tough for Durga to take her revenge as ultimately Goenkas are Dev's family - he might end up being a barrier to Durga to protect family than help her get justice or his mom may lead him to do so in family interest (ghar ki izzat). For Dev to help Durga he has to be as fired up as she is.

The show has to stick to main purpose. Everything else can happen in bits side by side or later.

Meanwhile I want to see Nitya's past - before, during and after the case in as much detail as Payal's rape was shown so that there is more clarity.

@Atomis - I don't think a woman "needs" a man... but, having a life partner who loves you is a blessing. I too think Dev has to earn that place in her life back. He has a lot of explaining and even growing to do. He wasn't there when Nitya needed her. PERIOD. That's a HUGE thing he has to overcome as regards both Payal and Nitya.

As for the romantic angle of the show, I think it's perfect the way it is now. Durga is strong, and this is her battle, others can help but in the end she should be the one to punish Goenkas.

Do agree there is no need for a hero, but the story is such that it will be difficult to avoid the track.

Dev is currently on Durgs's list for revenge/TBD list, he is not connected to rape but per Durga he betrayed her trust by silently supporting Goenka family .. She blames him because she expected Dev to support her. You don't expect so much from friends, which means that there was more than just friendship between them Unspoken stuff , but still expected .. You know what I mean. Her anger turns to tears when she thinks about his betrayal.

Now when she comes to know of Dev side of the story, she will just not be able to ignore him and continue. They need to revolve their difference , Dev being in love with her and his agenda being able to find the truth and help Nitya will not leave her.

My point is that this is gonna happen, so we just got to look at the positive aspect of this track and accept that it will be woven in the story .. I hope they just don't get too lost in this track. CV's also have the option of showing Rajnath being responsible for Dev's fathers death, so they can both fight this together
