My positivity in film is highly negative for Humpty Sharma - Siddharth Shukla

Posted by Just Showbiz On June 09, 2014

After doing couple of shows and reality shows on Television Siddharth Shukla grabbed 3 movies deal with Karan Johar's Dharma Production. His first movie "Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya" is slated to release on 11th July. With Just Showbiz he shared his experience working in Television and in his first movie.

Excerpts:

How did you grab 3 movie deal with Karan Johar's Dharma Production?

I was performing for Jhalak and Karan was one of the judges. He had spotted me. I went and gave my auditions and fortunately, to my surprise Karan and the director of the film liked it. So I got the role.

What is your dream role in Bollywood?

Well, I want to try it all. There is no particular dream role that I have. I really want to try it all and do well.

By the looks it seems in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, your character is of an NRI who has come to see Alia Bhatt. Is he positive or negative?

He's a highly positive guy, whose positivity in film is highly negative for Varun's character that is Humpty Sharma.

How is everybody on sets?

People were very welcoming. In fact, it was my director's first movie too. Everybody was very encouraging and nobody. Even Alia and Varun never made anyone feel any lesser than them though they are big stars. We had no issues with the director. The director had complete control over the film. There was no animosity among actors. Everyone was very welcoming, friendly and more than giving. It is a great feeling and it doesn't even feel like work.

Who's the biggest prankster on the sets of Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya?

No one's played any prank on me but the director was more of a prankster. He always used to keep the atmosphere light.

What was the reason for taking up the role in Balika Vadhu as Shiv?

Balika Vadhu is an amazing show, which shows the cultures on television. I wanted to be associated with it and fortunately I got the opportunity.

You had adopted a child in your show, if in real life, such circumstances arrive, what will you do?

If such situations arrive, I will adopt him. Like I said, Balika Vadhu doesn't come with a lot of reel writing; there is a lot of realness in what they write and in the situations that are made. Any person who is considerate or emotional would behave in a similar way.

Being a representative at school for Table tennis and Football, do you still play these games?

Ya, I do. But not that often. Tennis, it must have been a while I put my hand on the racket. But football, I have played till last year. I'm not at a preparation level.

Which role is the closest to you, from the various characters you have portrayed?Siddharth-Shukla

From all I have done, the role in Balika Vadhu is the closest to me. It's also my longest running show. To be very honest, I have learnt a lot from all my shows. Like, if you see my first show, there has been a difference throughout. I try to take something out of these roles, learn something and manage to get that good change I have wanted. All have been very close to me. And I'm not just saying it for the heck of saying it, I actually mean it.

Tell us something about your journey from your childhood to being an actor.

When I was a child, acting was nowhere; it was remotely close to my mind because I come from a family of bankers and that's what I thought that I would eventually be a banker. I had no such ambitions of being a pilot or a doctor or an engineer though my father was an engineer, I had no such dreams. I had no clue about what to do in life. And subsequently modelling happened. Modelling went on. Then came television. I moved here and tried to learn and now I have movies in hand which is good.

Message to your fans.

I hope everyone watches and appreciates my work. Just be there and please keep doing what you do, that is supporting me and yes, watch Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya.

No offense but once upon a time even Shiv's positivity was quiet negative for the show (only for specific circumstance and completely based on my opinion)
I love reading Siddharth Shukla's interviews becoz it reflects his humble personality and intelligent decisions.
Sid has come long way from his first show to BV...his acting skills have improved tremendously and his experience has made him more mature...wish him all the best for his upcoming film and further projects ⭐️
