Badi Dooor Se Aaye Hai: Meet the cast
The makers of 'Badi Dooor Se Aaye Hai', India's first alien comedy TV show, say they have paid a lot of attention to every detail, right from casting to script. The show premieres tonight and will air every Monday to Friday at 9.30 pm on SAB TV. Producer JD Majethia explains, "I spent a lot of time finalising the actors, bee it lead pair Sumeet (Raghavan) and Rupali (Bhonsale), or the younger artistes."
Writer and director Aatish Kapadia adds, "In comedy, the script must be the king. We even held special workshops for the artistes." The show revolves around an alien family, the Ghotalas, and how they adapt to life on earth.
Here's a closer look at the main characters: Vasant Ghotala (Sumeet Raghavan): The head of the alien family, he is around 50 years old. He can lift a truck and run like an ostrich, but has to hide these abilities. He does not know how to react to human life, thus creating a lot of comic situations.
Varsha Ghotala (Rupali Bhonsale): Vasant's wife, she can stretch her body and jump high. Varsha tries to behave like a homemaker so that her true identity remains a secret.
Vinay Rohra (Sharad Ghotala): Vinay, Vasant's brother, is handsome and has the ability to read minds. He can also erase their thoughts and replace them with his own. His love interest is Anna D'souza played by Bhavna Khatri.
Hemant Ghotala (Puneet Talreja): Hemant is the eldest child of Vasant and Varsha. Though creative " he can make masks and create statues out of stone "he is a dim-wit. He finds it difficult to learn human language and always lands his family in trouble.
Shishir Ghotala (Sujay Bhagwe): Though the youngest of the lot, he is too smart for his age (12 years). Blessed with X-Ray vision, he can see through walls and doors. He carries a device which conveys important information to the family. Like kids his age, he is a brat.
