Q. Holiday has big expectations so can it go over 16 crore and beat Rowdy Rathore to become Akshay Kumar's biggest opening day?

Ans. It won't do that much on opening day that is pretty certain from the single screen advances. Jai Ho grossed a little over 16 crore nett and its single screen advance was much better and it will be a surprise even if it matches Jai ho advance at multiplexes. These sort of expectations are built by writers in the media and when the number comes in lower they then try and pass that off as a good number. Holiday is not the big opening type and will depend on content to score.

It's not a masala film, doesn't have the typical chartbuster songs, doesn't have 10 unnecessary villain trashing scenes.. neither is it an Aamir Khan film. So 16 cr is indeed too much. I'll go with 12..

Akshay kumar has returned after 8 months. Normal for other khans but very big gap for akshay kumar who usually makes 1 movie every quarter. WOM is very important for this film. But the fact it got 3500screens still surprise me. Maybe because there is no competition whatsoever.

Akshay needs to stop working with Sonakshi ! Its their 5th/6th movie in 2 yrs , audience are bound to be bored

This movie could have done as good if Sonakshi wasn't in it. Such a waste to put her in it. Waster her talent. Waste more money on glossy romantic/dance songs which has NO APPEAL at all. & finally repeat Akshay & her pairing. AR Murugadoss should have just focused on serious note. Where in Ghajini the girl actually has a role hence it had light moments but this one isn't necessary. & it would have lower budget. Akshay & Sonakshi should not repeat their Jodi for another 3 years or so. They worked fine for TRowdy but after that they had 2 flops (Joker & OUATIMD) & then Sona appeared in 2 song in Boss where people thought Sonakshi was the lead, When she only came for 2 songs. There is nothing much special in the Jodi. & the spark they had in Rowdy Rathore has been missing since then.

Though I want Holiday to do well for Akshay coz he needs it the most
