Narayani's torn between two men
As the new protagonist in 'Mamta', actor Narayani Shastri is trapped between her loyalties towards her husband and son.
It came as a surprise when Narayani Shastri replaced the lead actor Neha Mehta in the show 'Mamta' (Zee) after the latter decided not to play an older character in the same. Incidentally, Narayani till a while ago had refused to do any saas bahu serials. So what made her accept this one? "This is not a saas bahu show. Now, it will revolve around a woman who is torn between her son and her husband (Anand Suryavanshi)."
Narayani says that she is unlike the stereotypical Indian protagonist she will be playing. "I am not like Mamta in real life. I am uncomfortable wearing a sari. But one's personal life and professional life is different. An actor has to balance both without mixing them up," she says. Narayani accepted this role on 'impulse'. "I received a call from the production house and I found the character very interesting. Hence I decided to take it up," she reveals.
Did the 'reserved' Narayani find it difficult to mingle with the team of 'Mamta' where she is a newcomer? "I am reserved and always talk less. Hence it doesn't get awkward for me. A casual greeting is enough for me," she explains.
What about her rapport with Neha Mehta, who she will be replacing in the show? "I have never shot with her earlier. While shooting for the promos of the show she dropped in to say 'Hi!', which was very sweet," reveals the actor.
And what's the truth about her much speculated relationship with actor Gaurav Chopra? Narayani dismisses the question saying, "I don't answer personal questions."
Incidentally, Narayani had teamed up with 'good friend' Gaurav in 'Nach Baliye 2'. Gaurav was also recently seen as casanova Samay in the show 'Aisa Des Hai Mera'.
