The CVs who have got Anandi constantly entangled in domestic crisis to the complete detriment of her career should learn from what female audiences have to say about who their role model is.
The role model used to be Anandi at one time. Today this character does not even get a mention in articles about strong women protagonists.
The new role model is the IPS officer in the number one show on telly land. The show is not my favourite because it has too many OTT characters. But it has been faithful to the basic plot which is about making its female protagonist an IPS officer.
It is tough job and involves dealing with riots, law and order and crime. The show's producers have shown guts in taking the story to its logical destination.
That women viewers take inspiration from the IPS lead surely blows apart the myth that female audiences like to see the lead as a housewife.
Of course, the CVs of the number one showed have compromised by framing the heroine's struggle in terms of her domestic challenges.
Yet she has succeeded and gotten where she wanted to get.
whereas our Anandi's career figures only in stray conversations. A promising politician has been turned into a the director of a vague NGO that for the most part remains off-screen.
Saas bahu drama may sell but combining it with professional ambitions sells even more.

You have lost that place to someone else and your are not even getting the TRPs for dumbing down your show.
