CHAPTER-1

Aliya looked at her watch for the umpteenth time; she was so late for work. She asked the cabbie to drive faster and cursed under her breath that why did she even agreed to party on a weekday.

She wouldn't normally party but yesterday was a very special occasion, her little sister Ayat got engaged to her long time boyfriend Rizwan. She smiled thinking about how Rizwan proposed to Ayat, Aliya and Rizwan's whole family knew about his plans for the proposal. He took her to the theatre where they first met and both of the family and friends was already in there. He got down on his knees just during the climax as the hero does for the heroine in the movie and proposed to her in the cheesiest filmy way.

She wasn't sure about their filminess but loved how happy and excited both of them were. They were great for each other. Tears, hugs and cheers were everywhere. Her mom was the happiest of them all it looked like as if she was being proposed to instead of her daughter. ~Mrs Shabana Ghulam Haider was happy to see at least her younger daughter settled and happy because her eldest one had refused to marry every eligible guy she had shown to her. She was worried about her Aliya, and wanted to get her married before she turned 28 which wasn't too far away. ~

There was a lot of commotion on the theatre thanks to her crazy family. The theatre was booked for two hours so after that the party shifted at her parents' house and later the young ones of the family decided to go to a club to celebrate in which she HAD to go. It wasn't everyday that your little sister got engaged. It was a wild night with lots of booze and laughter. Ayat was crying and laughing at the same time ~ people who knew little Miss Ayat Haider knows that she can do worse than laugh and cry at the same time NOT going into any details~ Both the sisters hugged and cried while Rizwan was stuck between two crying female, clueless about the reason for this outburst and how to make them stop.

After some 4 shots, 2 wine and several Yo Yo Honey Singh songs later Aliya finally got back to her place at 3 in the morning. She loved her family but after university she had decided to live alone and work. Her parents weren't too happy with the decision at first but slowly they understood her need to be independent.

The cab finally stopped at her work, quickly giving the fare she stumbled towards the entry. She checked if anyone saw her coming in at this time almost 30 min late to work. Macy The receptionist saw her, Aliya gave her best "don't you dare say a word" look. Macy just chuckled in response. Aliya had never been late for work EVER. And today she was going to break her own record.

note: the story is not related to the original beintehaa story AT ALL. only the characters from our lovely drama has been borrowed. And this is my very first story i have ever written in this forum so all kinds of criticism is welcome. Dont hesitate to give me suggestions on the story and the characters coz i am still learning.

Chapter- 2 {To be or not to Be}

How do you reject a person in a nice way? Is there even such a thing called a "nice rejection"? Zain was in the same dilemma, sitting at a posh restaurant opposite one of his mother's choice of bride for him.

Zain didn't know how to react to this. Every month his mom would arrange these "dinner meetings" with his moms carefully selected breed of potential bahus for the Abudullah Khandan.~ according to Mrs Suraiya Usman Abdullah, her youngest son should have had at least 1 kid on his name by now and also a wife if possible~ And every time they would have an argument where Mrs Abdullah would undoubtedly get her way through pulling her "mom card".

[Mom card - a series of emotional blackmail used by all moms to make the kids to do what THEY want.]

P.s it usually IS accompanied with Tears.

The moral of the story, Zain was turning 30 Very soon and his mom was getting restless day by day. But in situations like this, the youngest Mr Abdullah always had a plan.

As per the plan, a phone call would come on the restaurant stating that an urgent business call is there for him. He would then get an excuse for a non-existent "business meeting". And voila, out he goes from another of his lame meeting /dates. He would feel bad, for a tinnie winnie bit but then it would go away as soon as it came. It wasn't that he didn't want to get married but he couldn't see himself married to the girls his mom was showing or the ones who he dated occasionally.

As soon as he got out of the restaurant Zain dialled a number somebody picked up the phone, he could hear a lot of noise. People talking, laughing and was that sound of some girls crying??

Hello hellooo..

Hello Riz where are you man? I thought you were proposing to your girlfriend what's the noise there? Err..Is everything ok?

Hey Zain! Haha.. I did man and she said YES.. we are at a club now celebrating! It's just that my girl and my sis in law is having an episode.. ouch!! Aayat it hurts you know.

No man, sorry I'm knackered.. had to go to one of my mom's dinner meetings and hearing the background music.. I think you're on the same boat *smirk*

Zain couldn't help but laugh. Rizwan was like his kid brother, a junior in the university..While playing pranks on the junior batch Rizwan was that smart *ss who stood up. He might have looked stupid then but Zain was intrigued and rest as they say is history. >>> Just then his phone rang, it was his secretary to remind him about his schedule for tomorrow.

Sir, you are scheduled to review our branch at Town hall

Ahhh.. yes! I forgot about that, please ask the manager there to get all the files ready. And fix a meeting with the accounts head there. I might have to shift base for a week or two max so all appointments throughout that time would need to be held there.

Yes Sir! No problem I will inform everyone.

[Next morning]

Zain liked to always start his work before all the staff came. He would come early and observe people and their way of work. Usually it really helped him to know the people around. The staff had already arrived, while some were working and some were just taking their own sweet time.

From the corner of his eye he saw a flash of orange zoom past the entrance. The thing was so fast he couldn't really see what it was. He moved through the two sided glass office and followed the orange "thing". He went outside the office to see what it was, he slowly went up till the stair ways leading to the main working area. In closer inspection it looked like a girl trying to go inside, without making noise. He could just see her from behind. She had her shoes on her hand and was taking steps one at a time like a kid. It was such a funny site to see. He had an urge to see the face of this childlike creature. So just when she reached the doorway to the cabins he heard himself speak..

STOP!

Zain could see her whole body freeze on the spot.. He was barely controlling his laughter. It wasn't going to be like any ordinary day at work after all!!

note: i am not totally happy with the update but.. please give me feedbacks the good, the bad and the ugly 😆 yeh.. lame i know.. m still getting used to the posting stuff so havent quite mastered pm's. i will give pm's as soon as I get my head around to work it. happy reading 😊
