Just curious, what does Ganwar mean?Laila keeps referring Paro?

Doesn't it mean a villager? It doesn't make sense...they are all from rural area...aren't they ? If Paro is Ganwar...so what is Laila...she is a gypsy/ dancer whatever...but she is from the same rural area too...isn't she? I hope they refrain from using cursing and insulting words. It's very offensive.

i think Laila means that Paro does not have an ounce of intilligence to read her evilness. So for laila she is gavaar.

Typically ganwar means from the gaon or village , colloquial usage it extends to all uncivilized (jaahil) illiterate (anpadh) etc together as a demeaning term. In the story I believe Laila was from Jaipur

This reminds me of the "ganwar" discussion on Chhanchhan forum Rangrasiya thread long back, which went way out of proportion.. I think it was mostly Nelo and me, but we did look up this word in dictionaries and all kinds of sources.. There are 2 views- the literal meaning is villager (which is what I'd been thinking always) but apparently in an abusive sense it can mean illiterate, stupid, idiot etc.. So its partly in the context.. Laila definitely means it as an abuse..
