Doesn't it mean a villager? It doesn't make sense...they are all from rural area...aren't they ? If Paro is Ganwar...so what is Laila...she is a gypsy/ dancer whatever...but she is from the same rural area too...isn't she? I hope they refrain from using cursing and insulting words. It's very offensive.

i think Laila means that Paro does not have an ounce of intilligence to read her evilness. So for laila she is gavaar.

This reminds me of the "ganwar" discussion on Chhanchhan forum Rangrasiya thread long back, which went way out of proportion.. I think it was mostly Nelo and me, but we did look up this word in dictionaries and all kinds of sources.. There are 2 views- the literal meaning is villager (which is what I'd been thinking always) but apparently in an abusive sense it can mean illiterate, stupid, idiot etc.. So its partly in the context.. Laila definitely means it as an abuse..

P.S. Missing my dear Nelo!!

Typically ganwar means from the gaon or village , colloquial usage it extends to all uncivilized (jaahil) illiterate (anpadh) etc together as a demeaning term. In the story I believe Laila was from Jaipur
(urban area )when she had a relationship with Rudra and followed him to the rural post. Birpur is projected as a remote interior border village.

It is a colloquial language, just like how I refer to the people we
don't like as bitch.it doesn't mean I am one or the other person is one.
it doesn't mean, Laila or Paro is illiterate or villager. It is just an aggressive term used by the rival.

Lol. Alot of things dont make sense in rr.
But dont take anything to heart.

Ganwar means someone whose 'stupid' in a way.
Like doesnt understand/see things which r right infront of their eyes in paro's case.
So laila is using the right words in her sense.

Am fine Nelo.. I do remember, it was our first conversation and I wasn't sure if it was funny or an argument, with both of trying to be extra dignified and calm..😆😆
In retrospect it was funny i guess.. That thread was awesome.. It was like wake up in the morning and run to it even before brushing the teeth..😆
