I think I read about them in the fantastic beasts book..I dont remember its name though.. thinking..I think they r wood creatures of some sort..they had to b gotten rid off for wand makers to approach wand trees..Its usually done by enticing them with fairy eggs or something.. it might b the answer..not sure..can't think of the name..

A Bowtruckle is the size of your hand and it is the color of wood which helps it camouflage itself in forests (their dwelling place). They also have sharp teeth.
