The two most interesting characters in Jodha Akbar are Akbar and Ruqaiah
All others have consistent characters but not these two
Akbar was a spoilt rich boy kickass emperor but Hamida his mom and Jodha his love and Salima his senior advisor cum wife started guiding him and he started changinggg
Ruqaiah was a spoilt rich kickass empress but without anyone for guidance except Akbar. But Akbar himself was a spoilt rich kid how could he guide Ruqaiah?? She just followed what her brain annd what those around her thought her.
Now Akbar her main guide before has changed suddenly but Ruqaiah cannot change why??? Because Akbar is no longer there to guide her to the correct path as he spends all time with Jodha or avoids her when she goes to him. He changed and left Ruqaiah far behind. Now she has no guides remaining in her life. So she is upset and insecure. I think Akbar should sit and have a long talk to her about life, her life his life, their journey so far, why he changed, what he changed to, what he expects from her, what she expects from him and what he can give her.
Can he give her love of a lover that Ruqu expects NO, can he give her love of friend YES, can he give her rights of wife as husband although he loves Jodha MAYBE AKBAR SHOULD SAY, Can he give her status YES, Does he want to have a child from her NO, what else she wants from him apart from being a lover which is not possible in life etc
I wish AKBAR had divorced her and allowed her to marry another prince/king. Because her life is wasted and ruined by being in a polygamous relationship with him and an human life does not come again and again. Its once that you are born human and everyone has desires that their life should be like this, family should be like this, spouse should be like this, children should be like this, status and wealth should be like this etc. She is trapped for life in a non loving marriage. I know these are 21st century independent woman thoughts but i am sure in those days also women were ambitious and capable if given an chance.
I find it a bit not odd when viewers do not like Ruqaiah's desire for audha. Its similar to an 21st century woman wanting to work and become someone who world recognises. Yes Ruqaiah's means are wrong sometimes but do not all humans make compromises or step on other humans to go up in life. Jodha has compromised to become empress she married a jallad Akbar whom she hated, Akbar compromised he killed many, married many. So why not Ruqaiah why label her as bad only because she wants some power some audha??
And lets not forget she is Babar's grand daughter and has rights to that power as much as jalal or hakim or Salima etc. Akbar himself introduced giving equal property to daughters. So Ruqaiah is like daughter to Humayun and has equal share of power as neice cum daughter. I am only not fine with Ruqaiah sometimes misbehaving with others but hey in a school, college, office many of our classmates,colleages, relatives, cousins are misbehaving, only very few are docile and soft like jodha, some are no nonsense practical like Salima who do not wear emotions on sleeves etc. It depends on your upbringing in childhood. Ruqaiah has no family, no friends other than Akbar, she is introverted by nature does not socialise that is her nature. So she gets scared that she may end up alone in life she has no relative/family who loves her whom she can go for advice or who cares for her or guides her. She is all alone and that is what makes her behave like that. Lonliness is a deadly killer and Ruqaiah is showing all symptoms of a human who is alone. Atleast before she had Jalal spending time with her, talking, playing but now that also is lost. She will take a lot of time to recover and learn to live alone in life. It shall take a lot of courage and guts but she will learn i guess. This is from serial point not real life Ruqaiah.
Recently someone posted Ruqaiah's grave photo in forum. It was a great picture which conveyed her life. She and her father next to each other was such a great symbolism. She had a family till her father died and after death she joined her only family her father. She preferred to be by her father side despite a husband, step children, step grand chidren, neice and nephews etc may be because no one loved her and considered her as close family as much as her father.
Otherwise Ruqaiah could have asked Jehangir to lie in rest near Akbar, next to Akbar or be in agra her husband's city like Salima and Jodha. He would not have refused for sure. But she preferred to be by her father so many 1000 miles away from her family house(agra/delhi) despite knowing they would not visit her often.
The way people decide about their graves whom they want to rest in eternity next or near to and which place says a lot about his life about his close ones about whom he consider as his close ones etc. And Ruqaiah conveyed that through her choice of grave. Also Ruqaiah went to visit her father grave with Jehangir, then Jehangir and Khurram and then Khurram as recorded in books. She may have gone other times also but not mentioned as may be she went alone etc not recorded by Jehangir and Khurram as they did not accompany.
