Welcome members to the last round of Bollywood Music in the month of May!!!

We went from music directors to singers to lyrics of the song, and now the most controversial topic of all……… the battle, the argument between the old and the new songs and a look into the future of this ever growing industry which is loved by one and all.

From now to the end of this bollywood music month we will discuss and compare the changes in music industry, the never ending comparisons of new songs with the old one. comparison of new singers to the old ones and of course the never ending critisim the new slot get from the old one!!!

What is the major reason of old generation not liking the new songs??

Do you think it is fair for the new generations that they are constantly compared to the singers from previous generation?

What is one thing which old songs had, and the new songs don't and vice versa.

Whose fault it is, that the present songs don't end up in the ever green bracket?

Your Solution to this never ending debate/comparison.

Remember the above debate is strictly limited to the filmi music!!

Lovely topic Saba massi, been waiting for this one to come for sometime 😃

I think atleast one major difference between old and new songs is originality. Nowadays, there are soo many remixes being made of original songs, many composers and other people are just taking old songs and 'modifying' them.

Another major difference is.. hmmm.. there are just too many beautiful songs in old generation and new that it's hard to differentiate in this sense.. older generation had more.. tradition? Melody?

Now we hear so many songs with "rock all night" and "i love you baby" that it's getting monotonous.. 😕 Why today's people are doing this, I don't know. IT doesn't add more to the song...

Now not everything about this generation is bad, in fact there are more good things!! Composers like AR Rahman, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Ismail Darbar, etc etc.. and the singers too are still keeping up with traditions, melodies, and making more innovative music.

But one thing which I really and truly cannot stand and reallyyyyyyyyyy dislike about today's, or my generation, is remixes..! There is not one remix which I like or particularly listen to because I just don't understand why people have to take such a nice original song and add all other things to it, and not even modifying it in a good way. Even videos and other inappropriate things are being made through remixes.. I firmly believe that they are NOT keeping up with our generation and are NOT creating anything new, because it's NOT something new, it's an old song modified. REmixes don't make the song look better, they just ruin it and lose the complete essence of the song. It's not "cool" or the "hep" thing to do.

ABout comparing old and new singers, the comparison can be justified and can also not be.. many people compare Sonu Nigam to Mohd. Rafi because of the similarity in their voices and Rafisaab is Sonu's idol. But comparing two totally different singers, for example the song "Ae mere zoharajabeen", both Rafisaab and Himesh have sung it (HR's is remixed version, kind of). Can we compare them? No. Because two are completely, completely diff singers from two different times.. so there is always a limit to comparing singers. Singers like Kishore Kumar, Mohd Rafi, Lataji, Manna Dey are all on completely different levels than today's singers..

Ops, i think i have gone on too much 😳 will add some more!

Do you think it is fair for the new generations that they are constantly compared to the singers from previous generation? nope...its not at all fair to compare the old and the new!😛

What is one thing which old songs had, and the new songs don't and vice versa. I guess its the Non vulgarity which was never used in the Old songs!😳😳

Whose fault it is, that the present songs don't end up in the ever green bracket?ummmm i guess the New generations or the Singers who sing it that way😕

Well, its human tendency...the old generation still feels nostalgic towards songs of their times, and I guess for every generation, their time was the best..😳

Do you think it is fair for the new generations that they are constantly compared to the singers from previous generation?
No, I don't think its fair as every generation is different..but its unavoidable..every new generation will be compared with the old..

What is one thing which old songs had, and the new songs don't and vice versa.
Old songs depended more on the melody, and the overall tune of the song..I guess coz technology was not so developed as today..today, most songs have beats and rhythms, they make better use of technology, better instruments, sound recording..et all...not dat d singers today aren't good, but msot songs today pay more attention to the technical aspects..

Whose fault it is, that the present songs don't end up in the ever green bracket?
Well, i don't think they don't...its jus dat since dey're new, no one calls dem evergreen rite now...50 or 60 years down the line, I'm sure many songs today WILL be considered great..m nt too sure of olden times, but did all songs dat we know as classics today be considered as classics at dat time wen dey were first recorded..?

Your Solution to this never ending debate/comparison.
No solution...I don't think there IS ne solution...sum will compare, sum won't, and its one topic in which everyone has their own opinions..it cant really be helped..

Gr8888 discussion n lovely post Saba Di!!!👏👏😃

Bec they feel dat the new songs are trying to outdate the old songs... And the old songs in comparison are too good. They also dont like the trend of fast songs.😳

Do you think it is fair for the new generations that they are constantly compared to the singers from previous generation?
No its not fair. Music is an art and art can never be judged or compared.😳

What is one thing which old songs had, and the new songs don't and vice versa.
Old songs did not have variety however they have the rythm while the new songs dont have the soft music in them but provide us wid variety and uniquness.😳

Whose fault it is, that the present songs don't end up in the ever green bracket?
They are those type which are good for hearing but dont leave a mark in ur mind. And the only ones to blame are the makers themselves.😳

Your Solution to this never ending debate/comparison.
Both of them are really preety and should be valued.😳

What is the major reason of old generation not liking the new songs??
They think the music is loud n contains some indecent lyrics. And the picturisation makes things worse.

Do you think it is fair for the new generations that they are constantly compared to the singers from previous generation?
I believe tht there shldnt be any comparision as each singer is different.

What is one thing which old songs had, and the new songs don't and vice versa.
Old songs laid great stress on the lyrics while the new songs emphasiza on music n rhythm

Whose fault it is, that the present songs don't end up in the ever green bracket?
The reason tht the present songs dont end in the ever-green packet is becoz Quantity has taken over Quality

Your Solution to this never ending debate/comparison.
Try to make the other person understand tht there is no point of comparision n let things be as they are n to respect the other persons' opinion.
