I m planning fly from Auckland to New Delhi via Kuala lumpur .. in the very FAMOUS Malaysian Airlines next month . I been to Delhi 3 times b4 but never landed there. This is the first time. I googled so may sites.. but never got satisfactory ans.

Book a SUV from airport to Haridwar. What is scary about booking a taxi? I don't think anyone would kidnap you just cos you are an NRI. Chill and book a taxi. It takes 4 hrs from Delhi to Haridwar I think.

Or fly from Delhi to Dehradun and then travel to Haridwar.

Its just Delhi is becoming crime capitol if India.. NO offense.

If u r alone Go by train. u can take metro to New Delhi or Old Delhi metro station and catch the train. there are facility of waiting rooms at the stations.

We skin and burn NRIs alive in India. Be warned! If you want to be safe stay away from India.

simple if u want to stay in Haridwar then book a cab from delhi airport to Haridwar. Lots of authorized cab companies are there. U can check them online regarding price etc. Its just 5 hour journey from Delhi.

U can go to har ki pauri a famous ghat in haridwar.

Only thing u should be careful is of those pujari/ purohits and their agents. U will find biggest thugs in Haridwar among them. Once i was there for sradha of someone, Beforehand i told them about the exact Dakhina/ fees i will pay them , then while performing shradha he asked the name of all khandans, all generation whomever name i knew and multiplied fees say 500 x 20 and try to extract that much amount, I paid 500 after lot of arguments. You should only be careful of those middleman or else who know how much they will extract from u in the name of bhu daan , gow daan , swarna daan etc. as u r going for asti visharjan . They are manipulative like modi :)U can also visit some beautiful mandirs like chandi mandir , mansa devi situated above mountains etc. ropeway system are also there.

Nearest places to Haridwar is Dehradun which is 2 hours distance in dehradun many cool visiting places like mossurie , guchapani, sahastradhara etc. are there.
