Paro... the girl who after a few solitary tears wiped her eyes and sat stoically and with so much faith that just like her Bolenath survived the consumption of poison her major saab will also survive this dark night...
She kept a vigil beside his bedside.. never giving in to grief.. never for a moment letting herself lose faith that he will survive..
And when the very death comes knocking in to the room, silently, stealthily and grimly, that faith, those divine lights that guide her.. who we would in our world would call a guardian angel taps on her shoulder.. making her look back.. not turn her back to him.. and she like a lioness who guards a cub guards him.. she never takes her eyes off him.. her every breath, every sense attuned to the danger she senses...and she triumphs over grim death..
this is the first battle Paro fought with death on his behalf.. She fought off the death that walked in to claim him..
And then till morning arrived.. she was never seated.. she was on her feet.. why? because sitting would mean she would be more susceptible to sleep.. and she was keeping a vigil.. and she was standing beside the window.. looking.. dreading... every second she raised her eyes to look out of that window dread must have crept in more solidly in to her heart.. haunting with the shadow of death that was growing closer..
And in that night, as she spent in her solitary company.. as she felt those shadows lurking around it must have killed her.. over and over again..
because Parvati has lived through deaths all her life.. In her short 21 yrs of life.. she has seen too many deaths.. too many losses.. too many loved ones claimed by death.. all of them unexpected, inevitable.. sudden... but here she was spending 12 hrs frozen in horror as the one last thing.. the only thing she had.. only person whom she could call her own was drifting away from her.. every second drawing closer the grim reality.. and this time unlike every other time she was forewarned.. and was left helpless as she watched in horror..
And as the rays of light that brightened the world, with it brought the winds of death to her.. and as her tired eyes opened in a shaken moment as the sun rose lighting up the entire world.. as bird song made music to the world.. with it bringing nothing but darkness to her life.. and she realized that the arms of cold death was closer than ever before.. and she ran to him..
And her tear drenched eyes huge.. desolate as she stood beside him. her chest heaving.. trying to swallow down the sobs that would be coming up.. she pushed aside his sheet.. trying to coax him to wake.. she cajoled him.. she begged him.. she threatened him.. she asked him..she bargained with him.. in every way she could think she tried.. one after the other.. not registering what she was telling.. but trying to use something that would be enticing enough to get him to wake up.. to come back to her...
As her voice broke.. she kept on trying.. and when threatening didn't work.. her voice softened in to a gentle pleading.. 'bolo na major saab...' so soft words.. that with it carried the fear that was numbing her.. terrifying her..
she became stubborn.. like a child putting her arms up gesturing what she couldn't emphasize about the questions she had.. the questions she had hidden in her heart as guarded jewels.. questions about his care.. his tenderness..
her quavering voice... her tears choking her as she pleaded.. pleaded him to come back to her..
what do you do when you are at the brink of losing your whole world.. and Paro had lost her whole world two times.. two times when unexpected blows fell her and her world was shattered.. but this time right in front of her eyes she was seeing it edging closer.. clawing at her..
And she tried singing the song that annoyed him.. but as another ray of sunshine fell across she ran to the window.. as if to plead the sun to stay back.. for a while.. till she held her world together..
n she ran back to him.. finally succumbing to the terrifying pain..the mind-numbing fear.. she promised him never to sing the song that gave her peace.. the song that was a connection to her childhood.. the song that soothed her.. she would give up anything as long as her world.. her major saab was fine..
she wept beside him.. holding on to one limp hand.. she broke down.. as the dawning of the day took away all the security she had..
And she was still crying when Aman bhaiya and kaka came.. And as they again told her those words.. that 'f he didn't wake up by morning...' she thought to do the one final thing.. and her eyes got some life in to the despairing emptiness they held earlier..
n she stood up.. and she was returning to the place where she knew life resided.. the power that could give her back her major saab his life..
And whether it was to plead, beg or to fight.. no matter what the cost.. she would not be coming back with empty hands.. she would come back with his life only..
barefoot she runs along the scorching road on the desert-land that is her home.. not seeing anything.. not feeling anything except her one single motive.. to hold her major saab.. her suhag... her whole world together.. safely..
Wish feet that were bleeding.. she didn't notice even a twinge of pain.. as she ran in a single minded determination with prayers for his life..
And as she prayed.. the kindly pandithji offers to bring her water.. for her to sit down and take rest.. in this scorching summer heat.. and she refuses.. begging for the life of her husband..
and she is offered a life line.. as she is told that this moment she has stepped in the 'mangal arati' for her bolenath was to start..
And she could beg for one precious wish that was heartfelt from her bhagwan.. and she grasped it with so much hope.. as she was told that she was to forfeit a piece of her.. something that is so valuable to her in return of it..
And she is ready.. she is prepared to give everything.. and anything..
And Paro is nothing if not honest.. not for her the jewels she inherited at marriage.. not for her any land..a house.. nothing.. the one thing she most cherished..was the opportunity to be with her major saab. her pati. to be his patni.. his soulmate.. his life partner..
And in return of his healthy return she sacrifices the one thing for which she lives.. her moments with him..
Sanaya Irani what a stupendous performance today you gave!!
From the vary suspicion on KCM.. that intuition of a woman.. and the way you were watchful.. fractional shift of ur eyes at the scepticism at her explanations..
then the steely determination as Paro demanded her place beside her husband.. and the nightly vigil.. the moment of realization and the accompanying dread of the dawn of the morning..
the pleading... begging.. bargaining.. the despair of Paro.. the desolation.. hopelessness.. the fear.. tangible.. horror that Paro was feeling.. the dread that was numbing her.
the utter crippling helplessness of a Paro that was at the brink of madness. as she sobbed her heart out..
you made me cry with Paro tonight..
the hope.. broken wavering voice.. choking on tears.. the way the soft gentle pleading tinge.. that lilted words so heartfelt.. sweet hopeful words.. that tugged at our hearts.. beautiful voice modulation that just brought up a lump up my throat..
and the hopelessness being replaced by determination.. the pleading to the gods.. the desperation in her voice as she explained to the pandithji.. and the slow tendrils of hope that licked at Paro's heart..
no words.. just her eyes.. becoming hopeful once again..as she absorbed what was told to her..
what a beautiful portrayal... you made me cry today... because through you I lived through that mind numbing despair of losing your life partner.. just fabulous!! đ
