Arshi drabble series: Navarasa

Drabbles are stories that end within a 100 words. Have wanted to write one just so to see if I can narrate a story in the given word limit.

This drabble series, based on Navarasa will comprise of nine parts.

Ras (or rasa) as described by Bharatmuni, the creator of Natyashastra means the higher kind of joy that we experience when we watch a play or movie. Bhavs are the emotions represented in the performance through words, gestures, etc. Ras is what spectators experience, enjoy or relish. Everything done by performers to enable spectators to enjoy a performance is Bhav.

I'll be posting these drabbles on a daily basis.

The air was exhilarating. It slapped across my face, as though chiding me on my recklessness.

But I did not care.

Trees, which were merely a canvas of green could now be made out on individually.

Barely after I had touched the ground, a figure hurtled towards me, knocking me down.

"What were you trying to prove, Arnav?" Khushi cried out, her face tender. "I merely asked you to reveal your feelings towards me."

"And I did."

"By risking your life through Skydiving? Falling on the ground?"

"It was falling alright", I pulled her close, "falling in love with you."

Explanation:

Meaning- Love

Colour- Pale light green

Ye kya? Just 100 words? And You wrote so well!!

I mean, the idea and the limit, everything was new to me and really exciting. :)

Reading this i realised, you don't need a ton of words, when it comes to feeling and make others feel, a few are enough.

Dear Chaitu,

As I continue reading you work over the months , I wonder how much more can I get impressed by this girl. With your every story you have strongly evolved as a writer. With every piece of writing your narration gets more attractive, story line becomes more catchy and characters turn out to be more fascinating.

Since your first story (which I read) IMTBE your growth as a write is so prominent. Usually when one type of work gets popular then the writer tends to continue with the same and then gets caught in a typical style of writing . But you dared to break that wall and tried your hands on different kinds of writing. Name a genre and you have worked on it successfully. You did not get stuck to a particular style. And that is more riveting.

With this new concept , you have blown off my mind. I doubt that I could even ever have thought of such thing. Your research and study about these things are noticeable.

It's really a herculean task to write a story within 100 words and convey what you have in mind to the readers. But you nailed it girl. Plus the theme you chose for drables is also commendable. I am in to be a part this new writing experiment .

Just wish to let you know... I adore you girl!!! And I mean it 😊
