Jodha's Dilemma
Jodha is caught in an emotional turmoil on seeing Jalal in Mathura.
Her mind is still hurt from his bitter words and apparent lack of faith in her. But her heart, which has not been able to forget Jalal, wants to run and attend to his wounds and perhaps even confess its innermost feelings. After having faced a series of problems and hostilities in Agra for almost a year, Jodha gathered her last vestiges of courage and pride and left Agra. She doesn't want to return to that hostile environment where no one, not even her husband, has unshakeable faith in her and her goodness. But she doesn't trust her own heart at the moment.
She doesn't know for sure why Jalal is in Mathura - whether he has come in search of her or for some other purpose. She only knows that her heart is overcome with emotions on seeing him and if she isn't careful, she may end up letting her heart control her mind and return to Jalal. If this were to happen, her mind knows for sure, then she would always be vulnerable to Jalal's unpredictable temperament, much more than ever before because now both of them that she loves him.
She knows he is equally grief-stricken at their separation but there is a strong fear in the core of her heart that he may hurt her again on the basis of some suspicion. She feels he doesn't fully trust her yet and this feeling is keeping her from trusting him fully. And having used up all her courage to step out alone into the world this time, she will be left with nothing the next time something similar happens.
Her pleading with Kanha to keep her strong and not force her to submit to her heart's desires is heart-wrenching.
PS: She is happy that Jalal is in the safe hands of Todarmal now. But she is still unable to keep herself away from him and carries her special lep - that always works wonders on him - to him.
The Holi Jinx
Last year, at Holi, Jodha had inadvertently thrown colour at MA and been promptly exiled from Agra. That was the moment when Amer also shut its doors at her and in an uncharacteristically weak moment, she decided to end it all.
This Holi too, she is caught in a no-man's land between Agra and Amer. One year down the line, she still has no place, which she can truly call her home.
But this time, just when she has invoked her inner strength to try and make it on her own, fate has again brought Jalal to her doorstep. She is unable to decide whether to listen to her heart and go back to him or heed her mind and stay away from him.
PS: The precap is interesting and shows her accidentally throwing color at Jalal, whereupon Jalal recognizes her voice.
Scent of a Woman
When Todarmal's servant brings Jodha's lep to the vaid, who smells it and declares it to be the handiwork of a woman who is quite a good vaid, Jalal remembers Jodha applying lep on his injured hand for the first time. For a moment, I thought he will recognize that the woman is none other than Jodha because which other woman can make such good leps. š
For a change, however, the CVs kept the scene realistic and Jalal failed to link the lep with Jodha. š
Strangers in the Night
Jalal confides his heart's turmoil to Todarmal, a relative stranger to him. This is, on the face of it, contrary to Jalal's nature because he doesn't trust anyone with his inner heart and its feelings.
But sometimes in life, we meet a stranger who appears comforting and trustworthy to us, maybe on a train or somewhere, where we are forced to spend time with them in confinement but who, we know, we will probably never meet again in life.
Jalal has already met Todarmal once and knows he is wise, discreet, understanding and trustworthy. This has been both his personal experience and his father's too. For him, Todarmal is like a father figure, yet distant from his family. There is no emotional baggage or any kind of relationship between them to bind him from opening up. Jalal talks to him with respect and without any traces of embarrassment, (though there is remorse and mortification writ all over him), almost as if Todarmal is his equal and a confidante for a long time.
(This is a great trait of Jalal that he gives respect to those who deserve it and sometimes even to those who don't.)
And even more surprising for Jalal is his asking Todarmal for the favor of intimating Jalal's men about his whereabouts. Jalal is not the kind of person who would ask for help from anyone. He even refused help from Bharmal in as important a task as searching for Jodha. So it's not as if he has enlisted Todarmal's service only because it's a vital task. His seeking Todarmal's help shows his confidence in the ability of this man.
This combined with Todarmal's statement that some relations that have continued from a long time will continue in future too indicates that this is the starting of a lifelong relationship between two noble men. Here are two great warriors who are willing to forgo their family enmity and behave cordially with each other because they have discovered each other's positive attributes, have a common respect for the departed Humayun and possess an innate respect for a warrior, irrespective of who he is.
Whose Dead Body
Jalal is grievously injured. He is under Todarmal's care. How is it possible for him to get attacked when Todarmal is personally taking care of him? Surely Todarmal will come to his rescue?
Even assuming that Jalal is attacked and injured, why would he lie on the ground like an unclaimed body? Todarmal will give him the respect of keeping him in a house and doing the needful.
Surely it's a dream of Jodha, as predicted in some spoilers also.
