Narayani turns proud nanny

She describes this experience as one of the most amazing moments of her life. At around 1 am on Friday, Narayani Shastri's pet dog Kajri (whom she fondly refers to as her daughter) gave birth to seven beautiful puppies.

"She delivered her babies on my lap! The feeling of watching new life coming out of Kajri was just out of this world," says Narayani.

Kajri, who recently turned a year old, is a mix between a Daschund and an Alsatian. "I wanted her to experience motherhood and I am thrilled the delivery was smooth for her," says the actress, who did a lot of research on the Internet about how to handle the birth.

"I also spoke to my vet and he told me what to keep in mind. Fortunately, Kajri didn't go through a lot of pain. She delivered her babies one after the other in a span of 15 minutes.

I just kept waiting and counting the number of puppies."

Referring to Kajri's babies as her grand children, she says, "They haven't opened their eyes yet, but they are so adorable.

Each one of them is so different from the other. Kajri is around them all the time and doesn't let anyone go too close. She's quite the protective mama!"
