First of all this is just my personal view (not religious facts!!!!!) and a small effort to make it clear why the dress was not acceptable for many people. I have no intentions to hurt anyone's feeling so please forgive me for any inconvenience.
Her Dress: It was not acceptable for a lot of people because majority of us dont really wear revealing clothes and Alia's character and Beintehaa as whole was suppose to reflect the "normal" muslim society. I am not saying that muslims never show their skin. Some of us do and most of us dont and (i suppose) it is the majority that is reflected in show. To certain extent it is personal choice and to each his own, but showing scenes like that is just as bad as stereotyping muslims. So that's why it wasnt really acceptable.
and i really dont want to go in whole wig/holi issue because again to each his own and i dont have enough information about it.
- HYPOCRISY in Ayat's situation (My prediction)
Alia is shown wearing revealing clothes but if they see Ayat in those kind of clothes they will scold her (i know her dress is really short but still) and all that for revealing her skin. So i dont know how they are going with the modeling issue, but if they scold ayat for wearing it than it's straight out hypocrisy.
