It criticizes some of the rules that the society sets. People suffer and lose freedom because of those rules. Like Heer and Jordan suffered because Heer s marriage. They were meant to be together, but media+marriage+family+tradition didnt let them. Instead of enjoying life like they did in the first half of the movie, they lived the rest of their lives in pain.

Rockstar is like a beautiful painting,it's Ranbir best work till date,his character in this film reminds me of sharukh performance in Dill se☺️

Because music is a form of art and art is a form of expression. When you are in pain, you have something to express. Everything comes from your heart and it reaches the hearts of the audience more easily.

Plus why didn't heer divorce her husband and married to jondis. If they were in love(lust) to much??

Media wouldnt leave them in peace if Heer divorced. They were stuck in society s trap.

no point in explaining anything to anyone if you ask me. They are okay with nonsense like dabang and kuch kuch hota hai, as if those stories are straight out of hemingway novels. but if any non khan movie does well they have a problem.
Also it is pseudo intellectual ego to trash anything intelligent to prove you are even above it.
Only genuine reason for anybody not liking this movie could be they never experienced any passion for anything in their life which is sad.

It was like some assignment...that I HAVE to understand this movie...it took me some 8+ attempts to understand ...and now I am kinda proud I understood it... 😕

Heer never went with Jordan due to family, society pressure. Jordan knew the consequences...still he went on to get "heart broken"...later he actually was...feeling guilty of the Heer's situation.
I felt for both ... no one can decide whats right wrong... just one story in form of movie

it was a good movie..i watched it thrice in theatre...music was the main motivation for me to go again and again..
