I see a lot of criticism for Sujamal 's character these days.
I don't know how Sujamal-jodha track will be shown but based on what they have shown so far, I sympathize with his character. Makes me think of Karna from Mahabharta who spent his entire life fighting misfortunes. I'm trying to put myself in Sujamal's position. This guy is so out of the loop. And his love for Jodha is unquestionable. He has already risked his life twice for her, first to inform her about Bharmal's deal with the Mughals. Again, at the time of her wedding. I noticed that he didn't show up for Sukanya's wedding. So Jodha has a very special place in his heart. How can he be sure that Jodha volunteered to drink poison to save Jalal? As a brother, it is understandable if he thinks of the worst case scenario . What if she didn't do it deliberately but was a victim of a conspiracy? His resources including his spy network are limited. No one from Amer cared to make a courtesy visit to see how Jodha was doing after drinking the poison. Bharmal was ready to go to Agra to give an explaination on Mewat but not to check on his daughter who almost died. His statement ' what if if shehensha misunderstands us?' was disappointing. I actually agree with Khangaar Singh's view on this ...let your actions speak for yourself.
Sujamal is not wrong...he was wronged. What is wrong with fighting for your right to the throne? Akbar, Ashoka and countless others did the same thing. Okay, Sujamal using Mughal support to do it was seen as something wrong by Bharmal. But what did Bharmal do? Didn't he seek Mughal support when cornered?
Jalal accused him ' Zameen ke liye Mewat par hamla kiya' . Isn't Jalal doing the same thing while expanding his empire? Jalal's second accusation ' Peeth par waar'...can Jalal as an army commander keep a tab on which part of human anatomy is attacked by his soldiers?. What did Sharifuddin do with Suryabhan ? Jalal probably doesn't know that... How can he expect Sujamal to know everything? However, didn't he say ' mohabbat aur Jung me sab jaayaz hai'. I am not suggesting that Jalal doesn't have the right to take revenge... He does...but don't make Sujamal look like a coward to justify this battle. Moreover, one of the reasons why Mughals won some battles was because they were massive in numbers...not a fair battle, right? How can resorting to guerrilla warfare which includes 'Peeth par waar' be unfair?
I think it is very brave and selfless of Sujamal to come and check on Jodha. If a big MU happens...i'll swallow it like a bitter pill. Though my gut feeling is, most likely that won't be the case and it will be Sujamal who will save Jodha and Jalal from SD.
