March 1, 2014 at 9:00 am

One of the most extravagant weddings held in Las Vegas included a grand entrance on an elephant by Houston businessman Pankaj Malani.

So this wedding was very "Bollywood-inspired". I always thought the Big Fat Indian wedding was too much. It seems like a waste of money to me to be spending all that money on just one day where really that day should be about you and your family and your friends and family.

Any thoughts/ opinions on the grand Bollywood-inspired weddings?

Sindhi wedding are always grand, aren't they?
Nice pictures.
Indian weddings are all about grandiosity, money and every thing extravagant.
I also think that it is a waste of money but if you have the money then please go ahead, spend it and invite me as a guest.
Lol.

lol I never understood how people could just use up ALL that money for one day of their life! Granted that it's a very special day but wouldn't it be special either way if you kept things simple and rather saved that money for something useful? I just find it frivolous. But yeah, if someone wants to spend their money, then that's their decision.

That's true. They might recover that money so quickly! It might not even be all that expensive to them.

Is the recession over?

Big Fat NRI weddings are on, once again.

Who? Where? When?

Houston businessman Pankaj Malani, 31, with Avnie Patel, 29, at the Bellagio, Las Vegas, on October 19.

So?

Well, it was the biggest wedding Las Vegas had ever seen. The groom stunned 8,000 onlookers with a jaw-dropping entrance atop a massive Hollywood elephant rented at $10,000. Just flowers cost $150,000, as did the 10-tier temple-shaped cake that took two weeks to bake.

It's part of a time-honoured, big-spending tradition

I’ll admit this upfront — I never quite warmed to Daniel Craig as James Bond. He was intense, yes. Brooding, yes. But the magic everyone spoke...
