I can no longer watch this serial because of the atrocities against women that are depicted in the show.
Every woman in the show with the exception of Astha's mom and grandmom are shown as submissive and powerless.

Although this is no new trend in Indian soap opera's, what I find particularly disturbing is the level of violence against women that is being shown in this serial.

Jyoti's story is absolutely tragic and her husband's actions are abhorrent and unacceptable. What is worse is the repeated pleas from Jyoti to her mother that go unheard because of all the nonsense about women's roles in the house and family. There is no advancement of any story or any explanation as to why Jyoti's mother is clearly feeling her daughter's pain but refuses to help her.

I thought that perhaps the show would make some statement by having Jyoti's family stand up for her, and assist her in getting a divorce even though they are very traditional, but no such thing is shown. All that is shown is the same old regressive thinking in regards to restrictions on women, and women being silent sufferers of abuse.

Even Astha's mother in law is clearly shown as a hard and controlling woman who herself is controlled and abused by her husband. No husband has the right to physically punish his wife when she does something wrong. Especially as the notions of right and wrong in this serial are dependent entirely on a male's perspective.

Lastly, the relation between Shlokh and Astha. Shlok's violence and clear hatred towards women goes beyond the realms of distrust based on a past heart-ache. His blaming women for all that is wrong with the world, his horrible manipulative marriage to Astha and then his preventing of a divorce all indicates a misogynistic outlook. The fact that they will likely show Shlokh being transformed by Astha's love does not make any sense. In reality men like Shlok continue to commit violence against women any time they feel a sense of loss or a loss of power.

This serial is disgusting and I hope it is ended soon, as I can see it doing nothing but being a backwards step for the depiction of women on the TV screen.

I stopped watching long ago, but catching a glimpse every now and then on the TV I see that nothing has changed in this show and that is upsetting.

I agree with you completely. This show has not moved forward at all. They keep on showing abuse and weak women. Nothing good has come out of this show so far. I hardly watch this show. I tune in maybe once a week but they keep on showing the same thing. I just don't see how they are going to turn Shlok around. This show really is the pits. What kind of message are they sending.

I think this show shows what's happens to woman even nowadays is very real
Just everything honky dory does not happen in life

There are still woman not just in india but all over the world who are abused more than what Joyti and Angeli are going thru

Thus what the cvs are bringing is the plight of woman to the fore front

Good for them hopefully they will show the guys --Abhay and Niranjan are punished --and I mean real punishment like sending them to jail not just a slap on the wrist --witch usually what happens on real life
I love the show it is unique at least to me --as I have not watched a show where woman are thus abused

how on earth is women being abused entertaining. If cvs are hell bent on showing this kinda stuff then we also need to see the women beinh strong and standing up for themselves. ..not rubbish like you leave in a dholi and return in an arti or something along them lines

Guys wake up this happens in the real world
Give kudos to cvs to bring these kinds of atrocities to the woman in the fore front
And they have to show the abuse before they show woman like jyoti and Angeli get strong

There is plenty of entertainment in the show
Any way we like it u don't like this show watch other shows where are no atrocities shown against woman --doubt there is any show Show that does not have abuse against woman

As a victim of domestic abuse this show sickens me. If I had been watching this show a few years ago when I was at my lowest point in my life it would not help me at all. I feel this show is promoting physical, emotional and psychological abuse.
