I watched Gunday movie last weekend and found at several shots in the movie, the delicious fish Hilsa has been depicted in a very inappropriate way.
First, we see Arjun trying to gift Priyanka, Hilsa fish in fish market. Priyanka says Hilsa is given in dahej to Arjun.
Since when is Hilsa given in dahej? Dowry is criminalized in India and depiction of Hilsa as dowry item is derogatory.
Then we see Hilsa dance, were Arjun and Ranveer dancing with Hilsa fish in hand and shaking it vigorously. Why is Hilsa shaken vigorously in dance move?
Hilsa is a soft fish, shaking it vigorously can damage it. This is inappropriate way to handle a delicate fish like Hilsa.
And lastly, the most obscenely derogatory scene, where BW actor Ranveer Singh is seen hitting a guy with Hilsa fish on face in a fish market? How disparaging it is to see two grown up men hitting each other on face with the lovely Hilsa fish?
How awful? Who treats Hilsa fish with such utter disrespect? This is an unfortunate depiction of Hilsa fish.
I protest against Gunday movie for showcasing the most brilliant lovely, tasty fish Hilsa disrespectfully.
