Does a Bollywood actor need to dance in films?

Do you think a Bollywood actor should have to dance in today's day and age? I personally think that nowadays Bollywood actors and actresses should spend less time on songs and dance and focus more on their acting skills. All of that multi-tasking has to take away from their performances for sure. As an audience member I would rather watch a great actor who can't dance instead of a great dancer who can't act... I mean they are called actors after all...

In order to be a complete performer, I do believe an actor/actresses should be able to dance just because song numbers have become a norm in our Bollywood film industry. But you can still be a phenomenal actor without having any dance abilities. But I like to see a complete package in an actor/actress. Someone who can not only act, but perform well in terms of dancing, dialogue delivery, entertainment, expressions, and things of the sort.

Personally, I do care about dancing BUT some stars cover up their lack on dance skills by their phenomenal acting skills. At the end of the day, they are ACTORS and not DANCERS. But even the greatest dancers in the world nudge their way up into the acting career (my friend on DID is a clear example of that). Knowing how to dance def gives you an edge/advantage to entering the film industry (saying this because I've seen it).

Exactly! So do I, I honestly wish they cut off the unnecessary dance numbers. Just replace them with nice background music.. it'll have the same effect.

I love dances in today's masala films. I mean even though sometimes they are baseless like Salman's entry dances in most of his films but that kind of gives a sense of wholesome entertainment and builds excitement.😃
