I sat on the beach watching the sunset go down and the waves were splashing on my legs. I always had come here to watch the sun, it had helped me relax but for the past week I noticed a boy coming here and doing the same. It made me happy that someone else did it too even though we two wouldn't talk to each other but only sat three feet from each other in silence.
I looked around noticing he wasn't here yet.
Maybe he's running late?' I told myself as the sun was almost gone into the water.
Once it was almost dark I decided to get up and began to head home. I past by the house with a moving truck in the driveway and saw the boy who would sit with me on the beach, putting boxes in the truck. He turned his head and saw me and looked to the ground. I knew he was upset about leaving, heck so were I.
Even though we haven't said a word to each other, it still felt like we were friends. And I knew I would miss him.
****
The next evening I went back out to the beach, to watch the sunset like I do every evening. I sat in the sand alone, missing the boy who was probably now settling in his new home. My hands dug into the sand as I felt tears come to my eyes, regretting never talking to him. I always chickened out when the thought passed through my mind, but now I wished I could go back in time to change that.
"Hey." I turned abruptly to the voice behind me to see the boy standing with a picnic basket and blanket in his hand.
"I-I thought you were moving." I said as he moved closer to me and laid out the blanket.
"I am tonight, but I just wanted to say one last goodbye to you before I went." He extended his arm signalling for me to sit on the blanket. "I brought some snacks too." He said as he took out some fruits and cookies. "I'm Asad by the way."
" Zoya " I told him.
"Beautiful name for such a beautiful girl." He smiled.
"Cheesy, but cute." I smiled at him. "Thank you."
We sat on the beach together watching the sunset and talking about each other's lives. I learnt that he was helping his family move to London, England where he lived, it's the reason why I only started noticing him a week ago. He came down for that reason but now he doesn't want to go back.
"But London's beautiful," I told him. "Why wouldn't you want to go back?"
"Because you're not there." I felt myself blush at his words as you turned your head to try and hide it. "From the night I saw you, I knew I had to meet you but I was too chicken. I didn't have the guts to get up and introduce myself, but I'm glad I finally did."
"I'm glad you did too." I smiled.
"If you want, you could come back to London with me and my family." He suggested. "I promise I'm no raper or anything." He joked
I laughed at his joke. "Maybe when I know you better I will, but not now." I told him.
"Can I at least have your number?" He asked me and I smiled and nodded as we two swapped phones and put in our numbers. "I'm going to miss you Zoya." He said.
"I'll miss you too Asad."
-THE END!!-
