I missed the great IPK camaraderie even though I watched the show, and when I finally got on IF, there was a mausoleum type vibe...i felt i was entering the Sistine Chapel of shows...where one enters with head bowed with respect and awe for the wonder that was IPK. If u have something negative to say, whisper it softly, and get the hell out, because you never know whose fury will awake from its slumber, either because nothing negative can be said about something that has achieved martyrdom, or because the wounds are still too raw and any reminder is akin to rubbing salt on them.
Now I'm here on the RR forum. Not very active, but I check in everyday and love the analyses and the friendly chit chatter. Occasionally I will post something if I feel strongly about it. The two shows are very different, but the three things they have in common is:
1) A great, thoroughly well-thought out story. Let's see how long it lasts, but atleast now, everything they are showing us is deliberate and part of a bigger picture.
2) Very thoroughly sketched out characters. Characters should be such that when they respond to a situation, it is in line with their personality, and values, and not necessarily how the CVs want to shape a story. Khushi and Arnav were like that...their personalities were so beautifully established, you could almost predict how they would respond in a particular situation. Paro and Rudra are also cut of the same cloth. We are still seeing their characters being established, but as of now, I can see the same emphasis given to them, which gives a tremendous credibility to the script and story. Not just the leads, but even the supporting characters have distinct personalities.
3) Fantastic actors. From Paro and Rubra, to Masala mausi, Thakursa and all the in-betweens. Fantastic ensemble cast, which makes all the difference.
I had promised myself after IPK that I would never get that obsessive about a show again, but here I am, happy to break my promise. So please Rang Rasiya, do not disappoint. I have put alot of faith in you!
