Aditya Roy Kapur is a bit of a conundrum. Even though he's now a star, he doesn't enjoy the trappings of stardom. He doesn't try to look like a hero, even though that's impossible with his chiselled features. And he certainly doesn't behave like one. Maybe, because he detests the larger-than-life compulsions that come with it. He isn't interested in celebdom either and wants to keep his personal life private. So all he is willing to reveal about Shraddha Kapoor is that they are good friends'. But that doesn't take away from his intrinsic earnestness and candour. Q. Describe your first date.
I went on my first date when I was in the sixth standard. I took the girl for bhutta and coffee to Cuffe Parade. And all throughout the date, the only thing I kept wondering was whether I should hold her hand or not.
Q. What would you wear on a date?
I'd wear a shirt with jeans and shoes. If I were to go to a slightly formal place, I'd throw on a nice jacket.
Q. Would you call yourself a flirt?
Not really. I am quite straightforward that way. If I like someone, I'd go and tell her on her face. I believe I am too goofy to be a flirt.
Q. What is your take on one-night stands?
I haven't somehow been able to let myself have a one-night stand. But they happen all over the world. If an attractive woman is ready for it, no single guy really says no. There's nothing wrong with having one-night stands. It's a personal choice.
Q. Have you ever been in a purely physical relationship?
No, it's never just been only physical.
Q. Has a guy ever hit on you?
Of course, so many times. Once, a guy hit on me so blatantly that it made me uncomfortable. He passed lewd remarks and literally threw himself on me. The other few times it happened, it was funny. I have even laughed with a few men who have hit on me.
Q. Do you have gay friends?
Yes, I do. But gay men don't hit on you if they know you are straight or if they know you won't swing both ways.
Q. What is your take on homosexuality?
Homosexuality is natural. If a man is happy in the company of another man, what's the big deal in that? They are human beings too and shouldn't be discriminated against.
Q. What do you like in a woman?
I like spontaneity, honesty and passion in a woman. I like a girl who is truly passionate about what she's doing and is focussed on her goal.
Q. And what turns you on in a woman?
(Smiles) Well, it all starts with attraction. So, she should smell really good. Body odour is a big turn off. She should smell like an angel. Also, if the woman has beautiful, soulful eyes, I am a goner. My friends will probably kill me for saying this because they think it's silly - but for me, the woman has to have a nice nose. Her nose should suit her face. It's this lame kink I have in my head.
Q. Do men always have sex on their minds?
Well, some survey claimed that men think about sex every seven seconds. But that's not true. I don't think about sex every seven seconds. (Laughs) Men definitely do think about sex though.
Q. How much importance would you give to sex in a relationship?
It is important to be physically compatible with your partner. If trust, emotional compatibility and honesty are important, then sex is equally important. You may have everything, but if the sex is absent, your relationship won't last. You won't be with your partner for long.
Q. Would you take back your straying partner if she regretted it later?
I always believed that if my girlfriend cheated on me, I'd never take her back. But I am not sure if I feel the same way anymore. I am not that fixed in my thinking now. Because of what I've seen around me, I've realised that it's not so easy to leave the person you love. Everything depends on the situation. It's not that black and white.
Q. Have you experienced the casting couch?
No, I haven't. I've heard about it happening to others though. I guess it would be interesting to be in that kind of a situation, just to experience something as weird as that.
Q. Have you ever been dumped?
(Laughs) Yes, I have been dumped twice. The first time I got dumped I was in the ninth standard.
Q. What is your view on open relationships and open marriages?
Open relationships aren't for me. I'm an emotionally driven man. If I am with a girl, I would be committed to her and expect the same from her. Commitment is important for me. That's the only kind of relationship I know. But if two people can consensually agree to be in an open relationship or marriage, good for them.
Q. What is the corniest pick-up line that has been used on you?
First of all, none of the pick-up lines that have been used on me have ever worked. But the corniest onewas used on me at a nightclub. The girl said, "You look tired and that's probably because you were running through my head all day long." I couldn't stoplaughing after that.
Q. What is the sweetest compliment a woman has given you?
A woman once told me that I would be great husband material. I thought that was sweet. It's a nice compliment to give someone, no?
Q. Do you plan to get married anytime soon?
No, not soon. But yes, I do want to get married and I'd like to be married within a few years from now.
