The woman that Paro is

Over the course of last 2 weeks there have been some interesting discussions on how Paro's character has been shaping up. Based on today's episode I decided to pen some of my thoughts.

Paro is calm, like the waters of a serene lake. She has a pure heart. She doesn't have a strong personality trait, at least until now. She grew up in a village amongst people she knew all her life. She has always had people decide her future and fate and she sort of trudged along.

And now for the first time she find herself in the middle of a crisis and she still can do nothing about it as she fears for the safety of her village.

Given Paro's background wouldn't it be unrealistic to expect her to start fighting with a man and match every taunt with another taunt?

Given the way Paro has been written I personally find most of her reactions in tune with her character.

I have always believed that women are inherently strong beings. Paro so far hasn't had a chance to discover her inner strength, but she will get there some day. I just think that it will be very odd for a woman who speaks very little to start taunting or replying back to a man out of nowhere.

But yes I wish her character got more emphasis than what we have seen so far. I wish they had focused a bit more on her grief. The scene at the prison when she first points the gun at Rudra and then at herself was such a strong scene. I would like to see more of that.

I hope the writers will give this role what it deserves. I for one would like to see a woman who has a strong character but doesn't necessarily show it with her words, but with her action, her beliefs and her value system.

Feel free to agree or disagree.

I personally like her character alot she doesn't go all OTT of shouting and screaming all the time I like it that way. Of course I would love to see more of her inner feelings the most powerful was the gun scene I loved her in that. I want her to remember Varun she did accepted him as her husband so they should show her feelings regarding him.

Totally agree.
Her upbringing alone shows she won't speak up until her back is against the wall. This is not to mean she is weak. She hasn't faced any opportunity or need to fight, speak up as of yet etc.
Yet has shown immense strength of character, opting to remain silent & bear this Alone, for the safety of her near and dear ones.
It's another thing to see how far she would be willing to stand against the same people when she discovers Tejawat's truth!
She is a shy, meek personality. She resists through dignified silence, & only voicing what she needs to.
Her taunting Rudra, giving him back word for word, is not part of who she is.
I feel the cv's are showing her character just right. She is going with the flow, until she can manage to remove the danger to her village.

Agree with you completely.

The way Paro's character has been written and her background & upbringing has been shown, it would be unrealistic to expect Paro to react proportionately with Rudra. But as you said, she will face the new situation in her life and will learn to fight for the sake of survival.

Regarding giving more screen space to Paro's grief and other things, I think, the CVs are not taking the risk of showing that strong emotions at this moment.. rather they are concentrating more on building up the plot for Paro and Rudra's love story For
the sake of popularity they are trying to get as much viewers as possible.. And once
the viewership is secured, they will focus on such subtle issues ...

This show has always taken care of unanswered questions as and when it felt appropriate.. I believe they will do the same in this case, too.

Definitely agree! You said it perfectly.
Quiet does not mean weak. I don't really need to see the female lead screaming and shouting just to prove that she is strong. I have a feeling we will see Paro asserting herself in her own quiet way.

I actually don't know why people want her to fight against Rudra so much.

Where will she go if she goes away from Rudra?😕
Her own have deserted her, and Rudra is the only one keeping her safe, and I think she knows that too.

And she is intelligent, as we've seen with her one-liners, but she is still naive about the realities of the world, and once she understands people and the world more, we'll see a stronger Paro. But I still want her to have the kind of grace, softness and innocence she has now. You can be strong and yet be calm and collected. People sometimes tend to mistaken strength with shouting and screaming capabilities.😆

Very true NB. A timid woman who has never had the need or the life-experience to assert herself, make her own decisions isn't suddenly going to become an aggressive, self-assertive character. Even when life throws her a curve ball and rips away everything she is familiar with. Especially in that case.

Now on to the reason why i am really commenting (i am very lazy generally, unless something prompts me to pick up the pen - so to speak):

I wish they had focused a bit more on her grief. The scene at the prison when she first points the gun at Rudra and then at herself was such a strong scene. I would like to see more of that.

Is she really in the throes of grief? Does she really even remember her brief marriage?? Hold on - don't throw brickbats at me yet.

Her marriage was alike a dream come true, immediately followed by something worse than a nightmare. She realizes she is a widow - the couple of instances with the mangalsutra is proof enough - yet, the marriage itself has probably taken on a dream-like quality already for her. She is living in a world / state which didn't even exist in her imagination. For many people, what Paro went through would be enough to drive them over the edge into hallucinations or even what is euphemistically called "split personality". Yet she has managed to retain her sanity - i suspect through a thin thread. Her way of coping is to push all the painful thoughts out of mind - denial in other words. She is still sane because she chooses not to remember. If she can't remember, she can't grieve.

The grief will come - should come at least, if the CVs stay true to the characters psychology. But it will come at a point when Paro believes herself to be safe... Would be fascinating to watch a breakdown veering on the edge...
