SCENE I

EARLY MORNING IN SRIRANGAM KOVIL YANAI TAKES ABTH AND TAKE WATER FOR SWAMI ABISHEGAM, TWO LADIES ARE SHOWN PRAYING AND ABISHEGAM AARTHI AND ETC.... TAKES PLACE. THEN THE MOTHER AND DAUGHTER COMES OUT AND MOTHER SAYS TO HER DAUGHTER SARSU WHATEVER SAID AND DONE YOUR SISTER LAKSHMI SHOULD HAVE COME TO THE TEMPLE AND SARASU SAYS AMMA TODAY IS HER BIRTHDYA ATLEAST DON'T SCOLD HER FOR TODAY AND THE MOTHER SAYS I'MNOT SCOLDING HER I'M SAD THAT SHE DIDN'T COME TO THE TEMPLE WITH US AS IT IS HER B'DAY. SARASU SAYS IT'S HER JOB SHE HAS TO LEAVE EARLY AND YOU ONLY HAVE TOLD US JOB IS EQUIVALENT TO GOD AND NOW YOUR COMPLAINING. mOTHER SAYS YEAH YOU RIGHT IT'S ALL OUR MISTAKE TO EDUCATE HER AND LET HER WORK AS IT IS WE DON'T HAVE THE NEED FOR IT CAUSE TO THE WEALTH WE HAVE. SARASU SAYS ALL YOUR WORRY IS ABOUT LAKSHMI NOT COMING TO TEMPLE NO MATTER HOW LATE SHE RETURNS WE WILL BRING TO HTE TEMPLE IN HTE EVENING FOR SWAMI THARISANAM. MOTHER YOU ALSO WON'T LET DOWN YOUR SISTER.

SCENE II

SANTHANBHARATHY IS SITTING IN PANCHAYTHU ABOUT SOMEONES DAUGHTER BEING IYENGAR HAS ELOPED WITH AN OTUISDER AND WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT HE GOES ON AND ON ABOUT JATHI ETC... AND FINAL VERDICT IS IS HE SAYS THE FATHER MUST SEVERE ALL TIES WITH HIS DAUGHTER IF HE'S TRUE IYENGAR. AS HE REACHES HOME HE HEARS HIS ELDEST DAUGHTER SINGING SUTTUM VIZHI SUDAR THAAN....... AND TEN HE ASKS HIS WIFE HOW SWAMI THARISANAM AND HSE SAYS IT WAS GOOD BUT WHAT TO DO YOUR CHELLA PONNU ONLY DIDN'T GET HE THEN ASKS WHY DID ANYBODY BLOCK HER VIEW SHE SAYS ENOUGH OF YOUR JOKES SHE WENT TO WORK, HE SAYS YEAH SHE'S A PRESS
REPORTER AND SHE HAS TO KEEP UP HER PUNCTULAITY AT WORK UNLIKE YOUR ELDEST DAUGHTER SINGING ADN SITTING AT HOME GO STOP HER SINGING OTHERWISE SHE'LL ROCK THE PLANTS TO SLEEP WITH HER SONG.

SCENE III
A WEDDING PROCESSIONG IS GOIG LED BY THE ELEPHANT AND SOMEONE LIGHT CRACKERS FOR THE NOISE THE ELEPHANT GETS DISTURBED AND STARTS RUNING PEOPLE ALSO RUN HERE AND THERE THINKING THE ELEPHANT HAS GONE CRAZY A SMALL CHILD GET CAUGHT IN THE WAY AND THE MOTHER IS TRYING TO
SAVE THE BABY MEANWHILE THEY SHOW MEEAN ALIAS LAKSHMI PRAYING AND SEES THE SCENE SO SHE RUNS AND RINGS THE KOVIL MANI SINCE IT'S THE KOVIL YAANAI IT WILL CALMLY RETURN TO TAMPLE FOR THE BELL NOISE AND ALL THE PEOPLE START PRAISING ABOUT HER PRESENCE OF MIND AND SHE SAYS
I DON'T BELIEVE IN NAME AND FAME BUT I DO BELIEVE IN ELDERS BLESSINGS. THEN MOTHER OF THE BABY BLESSE HER SHE SAYS I'M GLAD TO GET AZLL YOUR BLESSING ON MY BIRTHDAY AND SHE WALKS UPTO TO THE ELEPHANT AND ASKS WON'T YOU WISH ME HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND THE YAANAI BLESSES HER WITH IT'S TRUNK.

Lakshmi goes home and goes in to have a chat with her mother. They chat a bit and her mother asks her to take the day off from work. Lakshmi refuses as she has some important meetings at work. Her mom asks her to apply the Thayar kunguman on her forehead and Lakshmi ore dramatica, says nee than en Thayar and takes kunguman from her forehead and applies it on hers. Her sister Sarasu comes and tells her mother about Lakshmi's bravery at the temple, amma worries yaarellam en ponnu mela kannu vechangalo and wants to chuttupottufy her.

Lakshmi's appa Raghunathan enters and both Lakshmi and her appa plan to leave for work soon. Lakshmi's mother Chitra has made delicacies for Lakshmi's birthday and is upset that no one wants to sample them. Raghunathan pacifies his wife and asks Lakshmi to come home early.

Next scene

A guy is shown talking on the phone and is talking about killing someone(I find out later that he play's Malaysia Vasudevan's brother in the serial). His wife comes in and hearing him talk says do not say such things in front of the Lord. (There is a figurine of Lord Shiva in the room) Malaysia Vasudevan walks in dressed in a veshti, kurta and with beads around his neck.

A pregnant lady enters the scene and begs Malaysia Vasudevan to help free her husband who is in jail. Malaysia Vasudevan offers help by giving money and says that if her husband is freed he will have to choose between his life and his freedom. The lady walks away looking sad. MV's brother's wife feels sorry for the lady and urges them to help her.

Raghunathan's office

Some guy is talking to Raghu thanking him for winning his case. Raghu waves off the praise and asks the guy to pay the fees and this chap gratefully goes away

MV and his brother enter and Raghu welcomes them warmly saying that he has not seen them for a while. MV tells him that they have not needed his services for a while and that is the reason why they did not visit. Raghu guesses that they are now there with regards to the Manickam case. MV gives Raghu a blank cheque which he returns and says that he will take this case up as a challenge and win it. He says that they will need to pay him the regular lawyer fees only.

July 26th update

Lakshmi in her office of 'Udhayam' newspaper. She is distributing sweets to all to celebrate her birthday and she goes to give sweets to a man named Santosh. Lakshmi wants to know if he has finalised the cover story for tomorrows edition and he says that he was waiting for Lakshmi to do so. He says that Punyakodi's (Malaysia Vasudevan's name in the serial) brother had killed his driver and now Punyakodi had approached a famous lawyer to defend him in the case. Lakshmi wants to know how this is connected to her and Santosh says that her father was the famous lawyer who was approached and that he is the one who is going to defend Punyakodi. Lakshmi says that she can't believe this but Santosh says that these are the rumours floating around and I am waiting for a confirmation regarding this.

Next scene

People are conducting a Vilakku poojai at the temple in Srirangam and when Lakshmi lights her lamp it blows out because of the wind. Enter the driver's wife who begs Lakshmi to save her mangalyam. She says that her mother had blessed her Thali and that now her father was going to take it away by defending Punyakodi. Lakshmi assures her that she would talk to her father about this.

Next scene

Lakshmi is sitting all by herself looking very gloomy. Her father walks in and showers her with gifts for her birthday. He wants to know why she looks sad and her mother and sister say that she has been this way since she came home. Her father wants to know why she is like this especially as he has just gifted her a diamond necklace. She says that she is not interested in the gifts and questions her father about him defending Punyakodi. Her father asks her not to interfere in his professional life. Lakshmi wants him to drop the case and her father refuses to do so saying that many times he cannot concern himself if one person is getting hurt or not as he is a lawyer and such is his profession. Enraged Lakshmi, grabs all the papers relating to the case from the cabinet and throws them in the fire…

Scene continuing from yesterday where Lakshmi throws the papers relating to the Punyakodi case into the fire. Her father is incensed and slaps her and vows to kill her if she ever did such a thing again. Lakshmi tells her she would prefer to die by his hands and can't believe that the father who bought her up to be fair and just is now doing this and goes away. Lakshmi's mother tells her husband that he should not have hit his daughter and he asks her to be quiet. In the night Lakshmi's mother dreams that the driver's wife is cursing her family that they will never have any happiness in their lives because of what they have done to her husband

Next day

Lakshmi's mother is crying over the dream she had the previous night and Lakshmi and Sarasu are trying to console her.

Lakshmi's father goes in search of Lakshmi so he can apologise to her, Sarasu says that she has already left for the day. He goes to his wife and she tells him about his dream and how Lakshmi is right about the issue and asks him to drop the case. Her husband refuses and goes away

Lakshmi meets the drivers wife and says that she needs to talk to her husband before she can help her. They go to meet Rajendran who tells that it was actually MV's brother who had committed the murder. After blackmailing Rajendran, they had promised him that they would get him out by 15 days and that is the reason why he had agreed to their plan. Lakshmi is in deep thought….

Continuation of yesterday's scene where Rajendran is talking to Lakshmi. Rajendran tells Lakshmi how he had told Punyakodi that he was going to tell the police that Punyakodi's brother had committed the crime. Punyakodi had threatened to kill his family if he did so. Lakshmi reassures him and says that she will talk to her father and change his mind

Lakshmi enters her Udhayam office and goes to see Sub-editor Santosh. Santosh wants to know what she thinks about her father defending Punyakodi's case. Lakshmi says that she is not concerned who is defending whom, her only concern is that an innocent man should not be charged with a crime that he did not commit. Santosh asks her to talk to her father again and make him change his mind

Raghunathan and Punyakodi with his brother Madhy. They are furious and Punyakodi wants to know how this case was splashed all over the papers even before the case had entered court. Raghunathan is confused and they show him a article in a newspaper detailing the case. Raghunathan assures them that he would take care of this. Punyakodi threatens him that he had better do so otherwise Raghunathan would see his real "Swaroopam".

At a temple – Lakshmi and Santosh discussing the Punyakodi case. Lakshmi says that if her appa comes to know about the article then all hell would break loose. She says she is not worried about his reaction and will stick to her guns. Suddenly Santosh sees his mother and shows her to Lakshmi and quickly hides scared. Lakshmi goes up to Santosh's mother, purposely drops a flower and touches her feet. Santosh's mother is very happy and offers her fresh flowers and offers her kumkum. She then leaves. Santosh comes out and Lakshmi is very pleased that she got ashirvatham from his mother

Lakshmi back at her house and is calling out for her mother and sister. She walks up to the oonjal and is shocked to see papers scattered all around the oonjal….
