~** My KNIGHT In Rusty Armour...**~

Part-1.

A heart that races when he comes near,

A heart that stops when he does not..

He is not what the heart desires-

Yet the heart yearns to seek him out and misses him a lot..

It was a sweltering hot late evening,and Veera looked around for a trace of the familiar face..He was no where around..

Sighing and shaking her head,she smiled to herself as she started on her way back him..

She had taken two steps when she felt a male hand on her shoulder.

With a soft smile on her face,she turned to face him..

But just as she turned the smile faltered from her lips.

"Aap ,Sachin?!Maine socha ki-..

[You,Sachin?I thought that-..]"She drifted off as her eyes moved behind the handsome young man,looking for someone else..

"Veera I thought that I would walk you to your home..If you don't mind that is.."The young man said to a seemingly distracted looking Veera,and Veera nodded in agreement..

Together they walked towards her home,as the daylight began to fade..

The time of dusk,brought many thoughts to one's mind..

But at present none of them were happy ones to another young man who silently watched them walk together from his hiding place..

His handsome face a pain etched one,his heart squeezing out in pain,he watched her walk home with another guy..

A guy who was worthy of her time and love..

An educated young man from a good family,having a good future..

He closed his eyes as an unbearable heaviness took over his mind and body..

Ever since she had refused his proposal of love,he had kept away from her..

They still had their fights and arguments,but for him it was all a face saving act..

He had acted as if it did not matter to him,that she had refused him,and that he had only been joking when he had said he loved her..But the truth was it had hurt him..

He had not realized to what extent,until he saw her with this new young man every day..

Every damn day of the week they would be seen working together,on the Krishi Vidyalay project..And Baldev with a heavy heart had to accept that she did deserve someone better than him..

It was not his nature to back off,in fact he had moments when he would like to break the city guy to pieces,but then he remembered Veera's words..

Who was he to interfere in her life..It was true..Who was he really?!

He was NO ONE..To HER..Veera was not HIS..

An unbearable pain passed through his system at the thought..And he inhaled a steadying breath trying hard to calm himself..

He straightened his shoulders and wiped off the embarrassing dampness at the corner of his eyes..

His friends would be waiting for him..And he needed t drink a good few bottles of alcohol to forget her and his stupid unreasonable pain..

"Mard ko dard nai honda..

[Men do not feel pain..]"He muttered the mantra to himself as he walked in the opposite direction of Veera and his new friend had taken..

Baldev Singh was ready to eradicate and forget his feelings and past..

Baldev was drinking from his fourth bottle of wine when he saw Ranvi walking into the Dhaba with the city guy Sachin Verma in his tow..

Frowning he tried to understand what they would be doing over here,when they sat close by to the darkened corner where Baldev was drinking with his friends..

He indicated his friends to stay quiet as he tried to overhear their conversation..

He strained his ears trying hard to listen..And stealthily walked a bit closer trying to keep his balance at the same time..

His friends ofcourse accompanied him,and the three of them stopped at the same time when they heard Sachin's last words..

"..to main Veera se shaadi karna chahta hun..Kya aap mujhe apni Veera ki haat denge..?Main use haamesha khush rakhunga.."

[..so I want to marry Veera..Will you give your Veera's hand in marriage..?I will always keep her happy..]"

Baldev felthe was hit by thunder,and he nearly got ready to attack the man for even daring to talk about marrying his Veera..And he would have made his mashed potato,if his two friends had not stopped him..

But then Baldev's wrath became directed towards another person as Ranvi,his childhood foe,instead of being shocked or scandalized,smiled and hugged the young man,and told him he did not have any problem with the relation if Veera did not..

Baldev suddenly felt his world shatter at that moment..

He watched as if from a different world,as Ranvi and the city guy left talking jovially,and Baldev staggered away to nowhere pushing his friends away from him..

Suddenly he felt he was truly the loneliest person on earth..

How could he be anything but lonely,when Veera was not his..?When Veera would soon be married to some other guy..Who would call her his..Love her..Cherish her..And touch her..

Staggering Baldev realized he had reached the edge of the lonely fields..

And suddenly not able to take anymore,he collapsed to his knees,and screamed out her name into the lonely dark night..

"VEERA!!!!!!!!"His voice echoed in the empty fields,and only the stars above were the silent onlookers as Baldev Singh,the Sher if Pritampura collapsed completely and sobbed his heart out..

The wounded tiger wept his heart out in heart wrenching sobs that echoed in the darkness..
