CHAPTER 30
Maa Thakur came down from her room to go to the kitchen, as she had to stop to hold the bannister as she suddenly felt like the room was spinning, she hands felt clammy and her breathing was heavy. She tried to take astep bur was afraid she would topple over.
She tried calling out to one of the servants but no one was around that she could see and words did not seem to be coming out of her mouth. Looking to her left she Saw Shanti who was on her way to the door.
"Sh..Sha..." She tried to say as she weakly starched her hand to get the little girls attention. Oh lord...what was happening to her. Maa Thakur wondered as black spots came fluttering in front of her eyes.
"Naani maa?" Shanti asked looking at MT who looked frozen on the step., and she was breathing funny. "Naani Maa are you ok? You sound funny." She said. Shanti asked hoping she did not get mad at her again. It seems Naani maa was always mad at her.
Naani Maa started making some jestures with her hand, that Shanti did not understand as she was gasping for breath. This got Shanti scared as she did not look good. Following her instints that told her something was wrong Shanti did something she never did, since the hospital , she screamed for her mother.
"MUMMY!!! MUMMMY Come Quickly...!" She shouted. A few moments after She herd her mothers voice.
"What is it Shanti..Why are you shouting..you know bett...Maaji?" Sugni stopped short as she came to the staircase. Maa Thakur was standing on the second to last step gripping the banister for life as she looked like she was about to collapse , Shanti was at the bottom of the stairs starting at maa Thakur with a look a frightend confusion on her face.
Quickly Sugni ran down the stairs as she held on to Maa Thakur's other Arm.
"Maa ji what is wrong?" Sheasked noting the way she was breathing. "Come, come have a seat.'
With out a word of protest Maa Thakur leaned on Sugni as she led her to the couch. The fact that she did not show any reluctance at all at being touched by sugni. Was in itself scary.
"Shanti honey...run upstairs and get my phone it is on my bed. Hurry!" She said, as Shanti left to do what her mother asked. Placing a pillow behind her head Sugni gently seated her, as she went to get her a glasss of water.
"Easy...easy!... her Maaji have a sip of water." She said giving it to her.
"Mummy the phone." Shanti said as she came back down handing the phone to Sugni.
"Maaji...I am just going to call the doctor ok...I'll be right back." Sugni said, slightly Maa Thakur nodded, again this frightened Sugni Maa Thakur hated Doctors.
Going over to the side table Sugni quickly looked for the personal phone book , she retrieved it and found the number for the Doctor. Quickly Sugni placed the call, thankfully he answered on her second ring.
She explained what happened to him and he assured her that he would be right over in a few minutes and told her to keep her calm and resting. After hanging up with the Dr. she placed another call to Vickram's cell.
"Hey...Vickram...Maaji ...she is not well..." She said after he answered.
"What happened?" He asked. Sugni told him what happened. "I called the Dr. Baksh...he is on his way.."
"Ok ..I'll be there soon..." He said hanging up.
Sugni went back to Maa Thakur. "Maaji the Dr is on his way...why don't you lie down and relax until he gets here ..hmm ..Vickram is on his way home ...hmm.." Maa Thakur shook her head , she did not want to disturb him.
"I-I-ll be fine just winded..." She huffed out .
"Maaji...shhh please Dr. said relax..." Without much of a fight, she closed her eyes, she was tired...
Sugni sat on one of the chairs as she rang her hands saying her dagard magard mantra...
One hour after the Dr. baksh finish his examination of Maa Thakur. . Who was now lying on her bed in her room, that Vickram moved her to when he got home a few minutes befor the Dr.
"Well, based on what she told me, and her paleness and clamminess, I have a strong suspicion she Is anemic." Dr. Baksh said to Vickram. He turned to Maa Thakur.
"When you came to visit me last month, you insisted you were fine and refused to do the blood test I recommended , after I told you that!" He said sternly.
Maa Thakur gave his mother a disproving look while she looked guilty yet tried to look defiant at the doctor.
"Now...I am going to do the blood test to confirm it, I should have the results in a week. In the meantime..." he said pulling out his pen and prescription pad..I will recommend these tablets to help, as well as a supplemental drink to assist with your weakness. , also a list of recommended food she is to eat to help. Now you are going to get complete bed rest for the next week, follow this diet and rest. Your blood pressure is also low, and this will make it easy for you to have dizzy spills and faint." He handed two pieces of paper to Vickram one with the diet and one with the meds. See that she follows this and I will be back in a week with the results and to see her progress. However if she is not feeling well in a few days or gets worse...we may need to take her to the hospital." He said.
"No no no hospital..." Maa Thakur protested..."Fine I will do as you say." She said still sounding winded. She lay down quietly as the Doctor took her blood sample and then left , with Vickram in tow who went to get the medication.
*****\\\\\//////******
After spending the next day cooped up in the bed, Maa Thakur had had it with the doctors' orders. Ever since the Dr. left, Sugni was constantly by her side, even if she was not in the room, it seemed as though if she sneezed loudly Sugni would appear, asking if everything was alright, fluffing her pillows just all over making her feel like a freaking invalid. She hated that. And the food, Sugni made some God Awful beet Soup, that tasted horrible, and she had no choice but to eat it as it was what the Dr. ordered. To make things worse, she missed her shows.
Seeing that it was four PM , Maa Thakur decided she could go and have her bath, before Sugni came in to "help". She had been in bed all day, with the exception of going to the bathroom on occasion and she did that just fine. Having a bath should be n different.
Slowly getting up she went to the closet to retrieve her clothes, ignoring the fact that she was feeling a bit dizzy doing that. She chalked it up to lying down all day. After a few minutes she went into the bath room, where she eventually turned on the shower, so what if it took a little longer than nessasary. She stood under the water rinsing out her skin, as the room began spinning again, this time she did not hav a chance to even signal for help befor the room went black...
Sugni came into Maa Thakurs room with a glass of the supplemental drink for her. She was shocked to find the bed empty . "Maaji?" She called as she stepped out into the corridor but did not see any one. Thinking maybe she just went to the bath room Sugni rested to glass on the side table and waited. Not hearing anything she went closer to the door and knocked, she could here the sound of running water.
"She's having a bath...I would have helped...hmm" She said. She knew that Maaji was not please having to accept Sugni's help, but Sugni had promised a worried Vickram that she would make sure his mother followed the doctor's orders.
So far Maaji had been reluctant but co-operative since in her head, facing Sugni was probably better than facing a hospital stay, since she hated it. But she was not one to stay cooped up for long, so being confined to a bed was not boding well with her Sugni could tell.
Some instinckt kicked in and Sugni began feeling uneasy, she was in there for a few minutes now yet it was eerily silant. Knowing that if she crossed the line and intruded in her private moment, she would incur her wrath, but something was telling her to check on Maaji.
Taking a deep breath Sugni opened the bathroom door and stepped inside..."Maaji ...are you alright?'
She waited to hear the scolding she was sure to get for intruding, but none came, instead she herd a faint moaning sound that sent her alarm bells off. Moving the shower curtain, Sugni looked in shock asshe saw her on the floor of the shower where she had fallen.
"Maaji...?" She said quickly turning off the water and grabbing a towel she covered her. gently Shaking her as she began to come through.
"Are you hurt?" She asked as she lifted her gingerly, she did not look like she was, but she was a small woman, and her bones were a bit fragile. She shook her head.
"Dizzy again?" She said, helping her out the shower and back into the room. Wordlessly Sugni helped her to dry off and into fresh clothes. Wordlessly Maa Thakur accepted the help, as she closed the eyes and swolled the lump that was in her throat. This was one of her most humiliating days of her life, as she had a few over the years..
After she was in bed, Sugni handed her the glass. "Drink this ...you'll feel better." She said she drank it. as she looked at Sugni straightening up.
"Sugni...you won't..." She began, if Vickram got wind of this he would send her to the hospital for sure. .
""Don't worry Maaji...I won't tell Vickram...he will get worried. I know this is not easy, but please can you just stay resting as the Doctor said...no more moving about like this...remember he said you should start feeling better in a few days...can you do that? If you would rather some one else do this and help ..it's ok." She said . "I don't want to stress you out."
"I-its fine." Maa Thakur said, feeling a bit guilty for her behavior. "I don't mind you..." She trailed off. Sugni smiled. "Ok Maaji...thank you" She said taking the glass from her.
"get some rest" she said as she left her. Maa Thakur lay down as she stared after Sugni. Taking a deep breath she fell asleep.

"And so the Prince slayed the dragon and rescued the princess and they rode away on his big while horse to get married in the..."
"SHANTI! What are you doing in here?" Sugni asked, as she came into Maa Thakurs room, with a basket full for fresh clothes.
"I was reading grandma a story..."She said looking at her mother.
Sugni looked at Maa Thakur who was lying with her eyes closed , she opened it on hearing Sugni's voice as she looked at her silently.
"I am sorry Maaji...I told her to go play in her room, she knew not to disturb you...right Shanti?" She said to her daughter.
"Yes. Mom...but Naani Maa can't come out, and I know she will be bored. I always felt better when you and daddy would read to me at the hospital...so I was just making her feel better." She explained. Sugni looked at her child , as she was touched by her thoughtfulness, but she also knew her presence here was most likely distressing Maa Thakur who disliked her.
Thinkng of a way to handle the situation with out upsetting her child , Sugni went over to where she was sitting on the bedside chair with the story book on her lap.
"That is very nice honey, but you know what The Doctor said, naani maa needs rest to feel better, and If you are here reading to her, she can't rest and won't feel better. You don't want that do you?" She asked.
"No.." Shanti said. "but I..."
"Shanti...I know...go to your room and play and let her rest...hmm"
"OK..." She said as she looked at Maa Thakur. "I am sorry Naani ma..." She jumped off the chair , gathered her book and started to leave.
"Wait..." Maa Thakur said sitting up a little on the bed. "Shanti finish the story.." She said.
"Maaji..." Sugni said looking at her confused.
"Sugni for the past three days I have been resting and I am feeling much better, for the past two days Shanti would come in here to read me this story, and I always managed to fall asleep before the second page, and silently she would leave...but she never gave up..today she almost got to the end...and I'd like to hear it." She said looking at her.
Sugni blinked, she had no idea shanti was paying Maa Thakur visits, although it did not surpise her, even when she was well and would keep chasing her, Shanti would always be around her hoping she would talk to her.
What was Surprising was Maa Thakur not wanting her to go away. "Why are you staring at me...can I hear the end of the story please, Ma'am?" She said sarcastically.
Sure..." Sugni said. "Shanti finish they story, honey" She said As she moved to put away the laundry.
Sugni watched at Shanti began reading again, and Maa Thakur closed her eyes, there was a slight smile on her lips.
Did this mean they were finally getting acceptance in her eyes? Could her prayers be answered. Sugni closed her eyes as she said a little prayer of thanks, for small steps.

Maa Thakur herd his laugher as she hert the footsteps coming to her room. Their voices carried from the quite corridor. Sugni was speaking what had to be a mile a minute excited about whatever she was telling him.
"So here was this woman standing there, shouting at the taxi driver cause he was blocking her path, as he stopped to pick up a passenger... He in turned called her a crazy impatient nutcase...which got her mad as she came out the car now and told him a few choice words that I tell you should not be said in front of children...but they were to busy laughing to hear what she was saying be..hehehe...because..she was dressed in what looked like a bathrobe, with a plastic cap over her head and fuzzy slipper, hehehehe, thakur Mallick it was like she rolled out of bed and came to pick up her child...poor thing was doing her best to shrink inside the car not wanting people to see it was her mother who was making all the commotion..."
"I can imagine...interesting day at school" Vickram laughed.
" I never laughed so much..." She admitted as they walked into the room. Each one of them holding a tray laden with food. "oops...I forgot the spoons!" Sugni said.
"It's ok I'll get it...'
"No no ..I'll go..." She said handing him the tray she was holding after he rested his to the side of the bed. She turned to run out of the room, when her foot caught in a bump on the carpet as she slipped and fell.
"Oiema!!!.." She said
"Sugni!" Vickram said as he came up to her to help her up, she laughed.
Be careful...all ways running..." He said.
"I don't run I walk fast..." She clarified...
"Hmmhmm you fall fast to." He said..."you going to damage yourself like that...'
" Hey bahgwan!" She said mocking him..."it was an accident...it's fine..." She said, before he could answer she turned and made her way downstairs. Vickram shook his head as he smiled, staring after her ...there was something about her today, that was lighter, he wondered what was it, whatever it was he was happy to see it.
"Vickram?" Maa Thakur called as he turned..."Is she alright?"
"She is fine..." He said. He sat next to her on the chair.
"What is this?" She asked noting the trays
"Well...Sugni said you were feeling much better today, so I thought it would be nice if we had dinner together, me and you. You look better..but you tell me...how are you?" He said.
" Stronger...I want to get out of this danm room and bed!" She complained.
"Soon Maa...after the doctor comes back..." They were interrupted by Sugni who brought the spoons.
"Anything else?" She asked.
"Aren't you joining us?" Maa Thakur asked seeing as she was going to leave.
No...actually.. Shanti has a project I need to help her with and we will have dinner together...if you want anything you just call." She said as she left them.
"So how is work?" She asked him as they started their meal.
"Work is good, except I have to deal with Amu sour face." He said.
"Aww she is still complaining is she.?" Maa Thakur Sighed. "I told her up to this evening, it makes no sense her staying here ...she is better of at work where she can do something productive, what will she do here watch me me sleep? Sugni can handle it, besides she is not suited for domestic work" She said.
"Well she is worried about you...'
"I understand and I appreciate it..." She said fondly, as she remembered ordering Adi and Amrita to go back to work as she was fine. Reluctantly they did. She was blessed with some wonderful children that was for sure.
They spent the evening in small talk, and she felt better having this time with her eldest son. For once the conversation was not forced, or awkward, or filled with tension. Just a mother and son having a meal with light-hearten conversation.
After dinner was done he went down stairs to get them a piece of desert, her favorite chocolate cake, he returned to the room humming. As he handed her her piece.
She sat in silence for a moment enjoying the sweet treat. She always said that, there is no shame in admitting you were wrong and she had to live up to that.
"Vickram?" She said looking at him
"Yes..."
"Beta...you truly are happy aren't you?" She said
"What...of course I am ...why would you ask that?" He asked as he farrowed his brow.
"Because I had my doubts...I never truly believed that she loved you...like you deserved to be..." She told him.
"Maa..." he said, looking at her seriously, but she raised her hand stopping him...
"all I was seeing was an opportunist in Sugni...and I made it known..." She said , as looked at him...'I did'nt miss a chance to tell her that, not much people would take what I told her quietly, without one word . You know even with all that, she did every think around here, when others would probably have avoided it." She blinked back tears that were filling her eyes..."And for these past few days, Vickram she has been here for me in a way that only your sister Uma would have done had she been here with ot a second thought..."
"I know you did ask me to give her a chance, but I never fully did and even seeing this change in you, and how happy you are now...I still refused. The fact is she dose love you, because anyone who would put up with me have to..." She laughed ruefully.
Vickram looked at his mother as she was telling him she had finally accepted Sugni as her daughter in law.
" Thank you Maa...that means a lot to me...You won't believe how happy she is going to be when she hears you have accepted her..."
"No ...don't tell her..." She told him sternly
"What why?" He asked confused.
Are baba...you tell her that...she will walk all over my head."
"Maa Sugni won't" he said. She looked at him
"I have an image to protect, if I am suddenly nice to her what will she think of me...No...no." Vickram chuckled...his mother and her pride. "I'll tell her when I' am ready."
"All right as you wish...I won't tell her. I am just happy to know you've changed your mind about her." He smiled along with her.
CHAPTER 31
Sugni took a deep breath as she looked out at the clear night sky, the cool breeze touching her skin. She closed her eyes as she tried her best to control the overwhelming feeling she was experiencing at the moment. Tears spilled down her face.
"Hey what is this?" She herd Vickram asked , as she felt him wipe the tear from her face. She opened her eyes as she looked at him, he was staring at her a bit worried and concerned.
She shook her head as she smiled.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
"Nothing..." She said as she turned to him and smiled... "I am just happy." She said
"That's your happy face?" He asked "Ok so what has you so "happy?" He asked curiouse.
She took a deep breath as she said ..."Well I was coming to check on you and Maa Thakur and I sort of over herd your conversation...she no longer hates me! I am just ...glad..."
"Ahhh I see..." He said. So much for her not finding out.
"Finally...Thakur Mallick...I can't tell you how much it means to hear that..."
Vickram leaned over the balcony as he placed his hand around her shoulder. "I know Sugni...and yes you have won her heart...but that is not surprising I always knew it was only a matter of time for that to happen."
"Hmm..." She said resting her head on his shoulder.
"Sugni." He said after a few moments looking out.
"Yeah"
"Thank you..."
"What? For what?" She said raising her head to look at him
"For all you did with Maa...you really took good care of her, sitting with her during the night making sure she wanted for nothing...I know the last few days you've been really running around, and I really do appreciate that." He said looking at her as she was staring at him with a serious look on her face as she folded her arms.
"Accha... When I do it you get mad ...and now you are doing it. What is this?" She complained. "I did nothing I was not supposed to do...you don't have to thank me...that is not fair...am I some stranger that you have to thank me..."
"NO.." He said.
"Then...?
"Ok ..Ok..I get the point..." He said "I won't thank you... but i..."
"Shhh...I don't want to hear it..." She said shaking her head.
Vickram laughed. "You sound like a typical wife..."
"Really?" She smiled as she batted her eyelashes at him. "How sweet."
" Ready to go in?" He asked.
"No...can we stay out here for a bit ...it's beautiful out ...the stars and the full moon..." She said looking out again.
"OK..." He said taking her hand as they sat on one of the chairs he placed his arms around in a hug as she sat on his lap as they enjoyed the view and the quite moment. The last few days being hectic they barely got a few moments together, as after the fainting spell in the bathroom Sugni did not feel easy leaving her alone.
Now that she was better, Sugni went back to her normal routine more or less.
"Thakur Mallick?"
"yes?" He said.
"Now would be a perfect moment na? For it..." She said
"For what?" he asked
"One of your...what did you call it..ahh Shayari's?...mmm? Say it na" She looked at his face .
"Accha...fishing for compliments huh?" Nuzzling her neck.
"Maybe...I haven't herd one on a long time..so how about one..."
"I have a better idea." He said
"What?" She looked at him curiously.
"Why don't you tell me one...go on.."
"Me...I am not good at that...you are..."
"I am sure you can come up with something..come come...tell me"
"That's not fair I asked first." She pouted...
"So what...Oye Madam...sometimes we men like to be complimented you know." He said with a haughty look..."come come say something let me hear you...". He grinned as she looked at him . She was quite for a few moments of thought. Trying her best to keep a straight face when all she wanted to do was guffaw out loud. She took a breath to compose herself .
She turned so that they were face to face as she looked deeply into his eyes, she creased his face as she said.
"Ok ...ready?"
"go on.." he said.
"Roses are red, Violets are blue." He rolled his eyes as she could not help but giggle.
"I have one heart,And it belongs to you!" She finished laughing
"Wah wah was...How unique how original!" Vickram said
"Hey it's the best I got...now your turn." She said
"Ok... Roses are..." He started as she groaned and pouted Leaning forward he kissed her lightly on the lips.
"You don't like it?" he asked, as she made a comical face. He kissed her again a little more deeply this time, that she forgot what they were talking about. Pulling back, he rubbed his nose against hers as he looked into her eyes as he said softly:
"You changed my world with a blink of an eye, That is something that I cannot deny
You put my soul from worst to best,That is why I treasure you my dearest
You have given me a life that I could live worthwhile,It is even better every time you smile
Now I have found what I am looking for, It's you and your love and nothing more
Co'z you have given me this feeling of contentment, In my life something I've never felt
I wish I could talk 'til the end of day,But now I'm running out of things to say
So I'll end by the line you already know,"I LOVE YOU" more than what I could show."
"Awww...I love you to..." She said hugging him. She sighed contentedly.
"Happy now? " He asked...
"Very..." She closed her eyes. Life at the moment was just perfect.
"It's getting late...look the moon is gone...Lets go inside."
"Ohh Ok.." She said reluctantly getting up, and going inside as he closed the door, joining her a few minutes after on the bed , she sighed as he kissed her softly on her neck as she wrapped her arms around him. Loosing themselves in a moment of intimacy entirely their own.!
*****\\\\\\//////******
Maa Thakur sat in the hall waiting for everyone to arrive to the family meeting she called. She announced it just after dinner and they all agreed to meet back here in half and hour to hear what she had to say.
A month had passed since her medical crisis, and now she was back to her normal self, feeling strong and healthy. However she knew that she was not getting any younger and there was still something she needed to fulfill and she no longer felt that it could be put off.
By the grace of God all was well with what was left of her family. Her son and grand son were settled and happy with their wives , which is all she ever wanted to see, with Vickram especially. , the business was doing well .
Now that she got past her prejudice with Sugni and Shanti, she saw that they were really wonderful people who genuinely cared about the well being of the family. She did tell Sugni a few days after her dinner with Vickram, that she had her blessing from her heart this time, and she got so emotional she even made Maa Thakur cry , and she was not one to shed tears often.
There was just something in Sugni's face when she told her that all she wanted was that mother's love she never had in her own life growing up, to make Maa Thakur realize that Sugni herself was nothing but a victim of circumstance, and poor environment and guidance, yet despite it all she had a pure heart.
Having her around the house was an experience in itself, she was not afraid to work, and she did her task with so much joy and good nature that it was refreshing from all the stuck up people she was accustomed to. Shanti to brought a refreshing breeze into the house, and it had Maa Thakur thinking maybe it was time to have a few more little one around.!
"Ok Maa..what is this family meeting about?' Vickram asked as he came down stairs with Sugni followed by Adi and Amrita, breaking maa Thakur out of her musings.
"Have a seat..please" She said to them as they all took seats. They all looked at her curiously she was sure wondering what this was all about.
"Well... I called this meeting, because I have something very important to discuss with you all." She began.
"As you all know I recently went through a medical crisis, and it brought home the fact that I am no longer as young as I used to be, and how things can change in the blink of an eye." She said.
"there is something I would like to do before I leave this life." She said.
"What? Maa...please stop talking like that, you are fine..." Vickram said.
"Yes Vickram I know I am fine...beta...but truth is I am not what I was ten years ago na..." She said looking at him sternly..."Now would you please let me finish what I was about to say?" He nodded.
"As I was saying...there is something I would like to do and I think the time to do it is now, a promise I need to fulfill." She said. "But to do that I am going to need your help." She said
"Of course Nani Maa ...just tell us...what promise is that?' Adi asked.
"It was your grandfathers dream Adi...that he wanted to build a Devi Maa Temple one day, but before he could see to it he fell ill." She sighed sadly thinking of her late husband. "But he made me promise him that I would fulfill his dream, and I meant to ...but there was so many upheavals in this family that I never got the chance." She shook her head.
"But now thank God all is well, and I need to to this." She brought out a box she had as she opened it and took out some papers..."This was his plan...his dream... He spent months designing it..." She said showing the drawings to Vickram and Adi..".I know they are old...but maybe we can combine these and come up with a good design." She said as they looked over the different designs he made.
"Wow...these are elaborate...Papa put a lot of thought into these." Vickram said looking at them.
"Yes he did...he would get ideas form all over and add it...he said...the mandir should be made as a welcome place...a warm place people should feel joy coming to it." She told them.
"Well it will be." Vickram said. " But where is this going to be built?...we would have to look for land...Adi tomorrow you can call the real estate agent and we can start..." Vickram began
"No there is no need for that Vickram...there is already land for it..." She said.
"Where?" he asked
"Mawhari..." She said as they all looked at her in shock. She tool a deep breath this was the difficult part.
"Your father had a parcel of land set aside for this...he left it to me so that I could see about it." She said.
"Mawhari...but Maa..." Vickram said he left there for good and he did not want to go back there.
"I know...we left...and I also know that it hold a painful past for us but beta I need to do this for me..." She looked at him.
"I have been thinking about this long and hard and I think I have a solution." She said.
"Building the temple would take time, months if not years depending on things. This is something I would like to personally oversee , and that would mean shifting back to Bundel Kahnd for the duration.Vickram and Sugni I will not ask you two to come with me because I know the painful past it has for you, and I believe you two are much better off here. The business needs you here Vickram. Adi and Amrita...I would like to ask you two to come with me. Adi has the sense to deal with the builders and fine details, and Amrita well you always wanted to know about the village life so it would your chance to see it." She said.
"well I see you have put a lot of thought into this .." Vickram Said..."but Maa still to go there alone I don't think..."
"Vickram...I won't be alone. Adi will be with me."
"Yes but Maa he dose not know what it's like . No offense Adi..but it's not like the city here, the people are different...the mentality. Beta they can be cruel."
"Mamaji...I know. But trust me I can take care of them. Besides..it will be good to chick on our farms as well and make sure all is working fine...yes the reports are good but just to make sure..." he said
"Yes Vickram...Adi is all grown up now...and as for the others...well we won't have much to do with any one, my mission is to build the temple nothing else. We will be fine...and I promise you we will talk to you every day so you know what is going on. All Advice and whatever we may need from here will go through you Na...it will be as though you are there"
Vickram looked at his mother , he looked at the plans in his hands. He saw it meant a lot to her and obviously, it meant a lot to his father. "
"I can come..." He said.
"I know you would say that...but no the further you stay from that place the better..."
"Maa you think I care..."
"I know you don't...but think about Sugni...it took her a lot of courage to move away, and I am sure she would go back with you...but I don't want to put her through all that bad memories again...that is why I choose Adi"
His mother was right going back there would not be good for Sugni...still he was feeling a bit uneasy about this. Maybe it was just the name Bundel kand and Mawhari that left a sour taste in his mouth. He also knew he could not deny his mother this, and he did not want to fight her on this.
"Ok" He said finally. "I will go with what you say...Adi can do this I have confidence...I will make the arrangements to get the Haveli prepared, and have what you need." He said As she smiled
"Thank you Vickram for understanding." She said.
"Of course ma.." He said. Oh he understood the motivation...he just hoped that it all went smoothly. One thing was for sure he may not be there personally but he would make sure they were all safe and taken care off while they were there.
