I better give some comments verna muje lagta hai ke mein maar khane wali hu😆
But in my defense Ronit has summarised things so eloquently that there was no point in repeating it.

I have to say you have captured Amrita's insecurities soo well. It was like seeing the conversation between Amrita and Sugni when Sugni was explaining all the little things TVS did and Amrita said that if Aditya did even one of those things for her it would be the happiest day of her life!!!!!

Anyway- Shanti is an adorable child, giving Vikram a gift to make up for not getting any wedding gifts. Soo sweet and thoughtful. Equally Vikram feeling sad that he did not receive his gift, thats soo touching.

Finally turning to the MS - its seems her attitude is getting worse rather than better. My sense is (and I may be completely off track) that having seen Sugni and Shanti at close had hand she can see the good in both them but does not want admit that she may be wrong and also that she could like the child of an enemy so is being difficult/cruel.

Lets see what happens.

CHAPTER 27

Vickram walked into his bedroom surprised to find Sugni fast asleep. He walked up to the bed and could not help but smile, she looked serene, peaceful, and beautiful. He noticed she had her phone still in her hand. He moved quietly to take it from her hand to place it on the side table, not wanting to disturb her.

As though she sensed him, Sugni opened her eyes suddenly looking at him a bit confused from sleep.

"Hey ...you're home." She said blinking.

"Hmm...you were asleep."

"Mmmhmm" She said shaking her head no, "I was playing this game on the phone and must have dozed off " She said. As he sat at her side on the bed. She lifted her arms wiggling her fingers childlike. in silently telling him to pull her up.

He did. He kissed her as she sat up. "Hello." He said, she smiled as she hugged him.

"Hi...how was your meeting?' She asked. He sighed.

"Long...but Ok ..how was your day?" he asked. There was a pause as she took a breath.

"My day was good...! Adi and Amrita are home...they must be hungry na..." She pulled back making to get up. Vickram looked at her.

"No they went out on a "date" He said.

"ohh...well why don't you go freshen up and I'll get our dinner...mmm?" She said.

"Didn't I tell you to have dinner " he said as she placed his night suit on the bed.

"Yes...but I wanted to wait for you..."

"Accha? and If I told you I already had dinner hmmm...?" He said looking at her.

She stood in front of him looking into his face

"Because I know you did not...you would come home to have dinner..." He said as he raised his eyebrows... "Oh..." She sighed sadly..."Fine I guess I'll go to sleep hungry...since you had dinner, and did not even, think of me..." She pouted dramatically .

"aare baba...ok..." he laughed..."Hey bagwan...so much drama. I knew you would wait. Ok fine I am going to freshen up..." She smiled as she went downstairs ...

A short while after Vickram came out to the balcony to find that she had set the balcony table for two, with candles and flowers . There was also candles lighted around giving it a soft glow to the small space.. The sky was cool and clear with a full moon light adding to the atmosphere.

"Wow this is nice...!" He said. Looking around as she walked up to him handing him a drink of his favorite whiskey on ice, he placed his arm around her shoulders as they walked to the table.

Sugni learned a few things about Vickram, one of which was although he was not a heavey drinker, he did enjoy an occasional drink in the evening especially if he had a hard day at work. And she could tell that this meeting was probably in that category.

He also liked to spend his evenings quietly, reading, listening to soft music, or playing chess; which try although she tried to develop and interest for she found confusing and boring. After a few attempts at teaching her he gave up after one evening she actually fell asleep during the lesson and she had to live with the fact that he found a new chess partner in Shanti who he said loved the game.

Sugni observed them one day...it was clear Shanti did not fully grasp the game but she just enjoyed moving the pieces about the board and feeling grown up, and he indulged her since she did it all with conviction...slowly though she was beginning to understand some of the game and it gave the two something to bond over.

Sugni smiled at Vickram. "Well I did learn from the best.." She said as they took their seats at the table, to begin their meal. Dinner conversation was light. Vickram told her a bit about his meeting with the client, who was interested in their wheat products but wanted it at a cheaper price, sighting it was tough competition, and he had other offers.

"I swear you would think he was negotiating the price of vegetables from a road side vendor, Sugni even after I told them that based on where it is coming from and the shipping cost..not to mention the quality, we supply being naturally grown, healthy chemical free products a 100 % guarantee. And I have no idea who the representative was but he kept saying he had to contact the higher authorities... Finally I just said fine ...they can go with someone else... as I am not making any compromises, I gave them enough.!"

"And they folded?"

"Of course...I was not going to waste any more of our time on them...seriously...I understand they are new and upcoming and but there are professional ways of doing things ..." He shook his head.

"True..." She nodded. "It all ended well...and they made the right decision..."

"hmmm..." He said. "Yes..." He said

After dinner was over, Sugni cleared the plates and took them down stairs, she returned to the room to the sound of soft music playing, Vickram came up to her took her hand and led her to the balcony where he swayed with the music. She rested her head on his shoulder as she sighed. No matter how rough her day was it all became right again in his arms.

They were both quite for a moment just enjoying this time together. "Sugni?" Vickram said softly.

"mmm?" she asked her eyes closed.

"You won't tell me won't you?" he asked.

"What? Tell you what?" she frowned not sure what he was talking about.

"About today? The argument with my mother? "

Sugni opened her eyes, she swallowed.

"Wha...how...did you?" She asked pulling back to look at him.

"Shanti told me...when I got home I went to check on her she was awake and a bit upset, I asked what happened and she told me..."

Sugni laughed lightly, as she stepped out of his arms. Ohh that, there is nothing to tell ...she was running where she was not supposed to and Maaji scolded her...there is no problem, really...i-it's getting late na we should go in..." befor he could respond she turned and went inside as she began turning down the bed.

"Sugni?" Vickram said from behind her.

"Hmm?' She said as she felt his hand on her shoulder.

"Sit." He said. She looked at him, his face was serious, and she knew he did not buy it. She sat.

"Now we both know it was more than that right?" She said.

"No..thakur Mallick, it's not. Shanti is just a child and she is not used to being scolded. So she maybe was still upset, she will get over it you know how children are they like to blow things out of proportion." She said.

"really? I know Shanti... and what she told me I don't think was blown out. You know what she told me?' he asked. She shook her head.

"She said it was her fault you were in trouble. She said you were sad because Maa told you she would never accept her because of her blood." Sugni's looked at him in shock, she did not think Shanti herd that.

"Wh...how?"

"She overheard you as she was standing in the corridor ...And voices carry. No she does not understand what that meant...she thinks that it has something to do with the blood she got at the hospital, she was confused though as she said it was a mistake and she did not want Maa to "punish you" for it." Sugni smiled slightly at that.

"Sugni I know there is a lot of things you don't tell me, because you don't want to cause a rift between my mother and me. I also know my mother and how stubborn she can be ...but honestly I thought that by now she would have seen and realized that you are not such a bad person as she thinks. I think it's time I had a talk with her about her attitude.."

"No!" Sugni said alarmed. "Please Vickram...no. You promised me remember, that no matter what you would stay out this will just make things worse and I don't want that. Please, for me..."

"I know I promised you, but Sugni you know I can't stand for you being insulted in any way...nor can I stand seeing you upset. And you are upset, no matter how much you have been trying to hide it all evening, I know that...I can see it in your eyes. Whatever she told you hurt...I did not bring you and Shanti here for all this Sugni. If we could put it behind us...it's time she did to." He said seriously.

Sugni looked at him and smiled softly, as she reached up and placed her fingers on his lips.

"Shh...I know. I will admit, her words did hurt a bit today, but Vickram I always knew this was not going to be easy. If you go to her all you'll do is confirm in her head what she already knows about me, that I no good for you." She chuckled as he looked at her. "I love you and I know you don't like seeing me unhappy, but I am happy...Hmmm I am!" She said looking into his eyes sincerely. "It is not as you are thinking, sure she is a bit aloof with me but that is expected...and I know one day she will see for herself, but she won't if you are upset with her, please?" She said. "I can do it..."

Vickram looked at her , he could never deny her anything and he could see a determination in her eyes to win over his mother all on her own. Slowly he nodded giving in, against all his instincts to intervene.

Leaning forward she hugged him. "Thank you!" She said. "Sorry.." She said when she heard him let out an exasperated sigh over to thank you. She pulled back to look at him.

"What to do...that is the only words I can say right now na..."

"Well I can think of other ways for you to express your appreciation..." He said as he moved a strand of her hair to tuck it behind her ear. She looked at him frowning.

"What do you mean?" She asked.

He smiled as he lifted his eyebrow making his meaning clear.

"Ohh!" She said understanding. "See there is a problem with that " She said removing his hands. "I have to get up early as I have a long day tomorrow...and it is late " She yawned loudly getting up and going to her side of the bed lying down..."good night!" she said as Vickram stared at her dumbfounded.

"Kamal hain!" Vickram said shaking his head as he got up to close the balcony door. He looked at her as se pulled the covers over her head. Dejectedly he joined her taking off the light. "Looks like the honey moon Is over Vickram..." he mumbled.

"You say something?" She asked

"Uhh no... " he said. ..

Vickram felt her lips caress his cheeks as she kissed him slowly moving to his lips. He smiled.

"Thakur Mallick?" She whispered moving to his ear.

Hmmm?

"Thank you..." She giggled as he pulled her closer to him...he kissed her until her giggles faded, and words were difficult to come by...

*****\\\\\\/////******

"Good morning Maa..." Vickram said as he came down for breakfast the next morning.

"Good morning beta..." Maa Thakur said looking at him. She was sure he got an earful over the incident yesterday, and knowing Vickram he would probably be here to defend his precious wife, and tell her she was wrong.. She was waiting on it.

He took his seat as he looked around.

"Where is Adi and Amrita?" he asked seeing they were not around

"I think her father was a bit unwell, they said they would come to the office after." She told him nodded

"Nothing serious I hope?"

"It did not sound so...I guess we will know after they return." She said. He nodded. Sugni came down with Shanti who was ready for school.

"Morning Daddy...good morning naani maa!" She said softly looking at her as she took her seat..

"Morning!" She said.

Sugni got up and began serving breakfast to everyone. Maa Thakur took her own.

So Maa there is something I need to talk to you about!" Vickram said.. She knew it!. Sugni was watching Vickram, waiting gleefully, she was sure.

"Yes..." She said.

"Well it has been more than a year since you have had a general check up...and I think it is time you had one. I will make the appointment today when I get to work and let you know when ok?" he said.

Maa Thakur looked at him. Checkup...why was'nt he asking about yesterday?

"But...beta...I don't need it na..."

"yes you do...all you see the doctor for is medication for your feet... it is high time you get a complete physical and I don't trust that Dr. you have... No arguments...ok?" he said sternly, looking at her.

She nodded.

"Are you feeling alright?" he asked her touching her forehead.

"Huh...yes why?" She asked

"Well I expected at least a bit of a fight on that...you hate doctor's na..." he laughed.

"Oh no...not at all."

"Sugni...you are supposed to go to the licensing office soon to get your permit?" he asked

"Ohh yeah..today I almost forgot! She said

"Vickram?" She said.

"Yeah..." he said as he continued to eat his breakfast.

"Will you be in the office all day?" She asked

"Yes...I thinks so why?" He looked at her as she smiled

"Would you mind traveling to work ...please?"

"Huh?"

"See after I get my permit I was thinking I could pick you up from work and take you for a drive..." She said. Vickram had never seen her drive, as she wanted to surprise him after she passed her test and became official. "if you don't need it.." She said.

He looked at her.

"it's ok...I guess you will need it...and traveling is not practical..."

Reaching in his pockets, he took out the keys and handed it to her. Holding her hand.

"Here you go..." Her face broke into a bright smile. "I'll manage... you don't have to come to the office."

"No...I told you, when I get it you are the first person I want to see me drive..." She said.

"Ok ...as you wish." He laughed.

Maa Thakur sat silently observing them, she saw Sugni was upset yesterday, but now she was acting as though nothing was wrong. Looking at them it was as though they were in a world of their own. She herd Vickram laugh about something she said.

A sound she was beginning to get used to hearing again after such a long time. What was striking her though was try as she kept telling herself this was all one sided, it was hard to believe that when you saw them like this, almost as though one was a part of the other.

As breakfast was over and Vickram and Sugni left, him to work and her to drop Shanti off to school and the licensing office... Maa Thakur went to her room deep in thought.

She was still trying to figure out what was Sugni playing at, she could have easily told Vickram about the incident but for some reason she did not. Unintentionally she remembered incidents with Reva, when she first got married, where she would leave the house without informing any one where she was going.

When she told her that all she would appreciate was if she was informed at least for safety purposes, she made such an issue over it with Vickram telling him his mother wants her to stay coped up in the house , and she did not know she had to give a minute by minute account of herself. Vickram told her it was not like that and thank God did not fall for her antics.

After being repeatedly insulted, Sugni still kept quiet, even knowing that Vickram would undoubtedly take her side. Maa Thakur closed her eyes still trying to process this...

CHAPTER 28

It was a Saturday, Vickram and Adi went out to the tennis court across town where they usually did a work out session . It was a Saturday routine with them. Sugni was folding some laundry, with Shanti's help.

"Sugni ! Sugni Sugni... Just the woman I was looking for!!!" Amrita said excitedlyas she came into the room ."Ohh leave that!' she said taking the shirt out of her hands and placing it on the bed.

"What...Amrita...what is all that about." Sugni asked confued.

I found it...!"

"Huh? Found what?" she asked wondering what set the fire under her.

"My next project!!!"

"Project?" She asked.

"Yes my cooking classes are over and I have been looking for something else to do...and suddenly I found it...it is brilliant!" She said practically jumping up and down.

Ohh Oh...Sugni was warned by Vickram that she would probably drag her along to her various classes, she wondered what it was going to be.

really?...tell me something though..." She asked genuinely curious. "You spend you day at the office then go to one of these classes...why..I mean aren't you tired? And who wants to be reading books all the time?' She asked.

"Oh Sugni..I don't do it for reading..."

"Then?'

"Well I have always had a fascination for learning new things... you know the saying "Jack ofall trades..." Sugni nodded. Well when I find something interesting I like to learn how they do it. I have a record you know."

"A record...?"

"Yes I have taken short courses in , sewing, drapery, decorating, baking, plumbing...

"Plumbing,?" She nodded as she continued.

"Umm.. hairdressing , beauty treatments, photography...and last but not least cooking!'

Sugni looked at Amrita with her mouth hanging open..."You are mad!..." She said.

"HAHAHA ...funny Mamaji said the same thing first time her heard about my strange obsession, I just love learning new things...kya kare..." She said , Sugni laughed. Sometimes Amrita was plain strange.

"Hmm so now you are going to start a new course...?" Sugni said.

"Well not really I am looking around but have not find anything to catch my interest yet. Anyways..." She said as she plopped on the bed, watching Shanti who was quietly helping her mother fold laundry.

"I went into this music store and I could not believe when I saw this...and I knew I had to learn, I mean I was always fascinated it with it after hearing about it..and I thought who better to teach me than you!" She said

"Huh? Me...what could I possibly teach you?" She asked, confused.

"Dance! Rai Dance" She said show Sugni the CD she brought her face was shining with excitement..."Sounds of Rural India...Rai Vol.1"

Sugni looked at the CD in shock then looked at Amrita's face , "Are you crazy?" She asked.

"Seriously Amrita..." She shook her head as she took the shirt and began folding it.

"Why? What's wrong with it?" She asked.

"Rai...you know that in this house that is not allowed...and I don't do that anymore.!" She said.."You better get rid of that before Maa Thakur sees it!" Sugni told her seriously.

"Relax Sugni..." Amrita said . "LookI did not mean anything by it...listen..." Amrita waited for Sugni to watch her.

"I know...but you are not seeing it how I am looking at it. See dance is a form of art, just like painting, writing singing. Correct?" She asked Sugni nodded.

"I mean you see these movies with bar dances and half naked women...is it like that?...item song type?" Amrita asked, she never thought about that.

"No No it is not like that..." Sugni said .."Actually the dance was originally meant to be performed in the temples as a form of worship to God." She explained..."At least years before I was born and then it turned into an entertainment for the Thakurs...who took advantage of the poverty of the women and used their power and influence to change it into something totally immoral." Sugni shook her head in disgust.

"Ok ...see it was meant to be a pure folk dance, like bharathnatum, kahtak, ballet or any other. And I am not saying we are going to go out and perform it...I just want to learn about it...Please...

"Amrita...Vickram does not like rai and I don't think he would approve of that, not to mention Maa Thakur..."

"So..they don't have to know...it'll be our sceret . Sugn I have always been hearing stories from them...and I have always been curious as the what tis dance is all about to cause such a hullabloo with everyone. I can't ask them...but I can ask you...Please..please...please.." She begged.

Amrita had such a pleading look on her face . She looked at the CD and back. She remembered the look she always saw on Vickram's face when he saw Rai being performed at any functions , especially if she was dancing. She began sshaking her head.

"Sugni No don't say that. Ok We can do it on a Saturday when Adi and Mamaji are at the tennis court...Naani maa is in her room so she won't know. And I promise if we get caught I will take full responsibility infornt of Mamaji...Please?" She said again trying to wear her down.

Taking a deep breath Sugni gave in nodding, as Amrita jumped and hugged her excitedly. Sugni wondered if she was crazy for going along with this, but it was hard to resist all this enthusiasm.

One week later Amrita, Sugni and Shanti was in one of the rooms in the house that Amrita used asa work room for her variouse intrest. Sugni never paid it much attention but on the walls were frames of a cerificates she got form her courses, as well as other stuff.

She had cleared the floor space turning it into a kind of dance studio, where she pushed all the furniture to to walls. At one corner there was a pertable CD player. Amrita closed the door.

"Maa Thakur never comes here, but just to be sure...and at this time she is probably resting so we are safe. Shanti remember not a word of this to your dad or bhaiya or Naanimaa ok?"

"Ok." She said as she smiled at being in on the secret.

"Ok teacher. " Amtita said to Sugni..."Teach me!'

"Amrita, you are impossible ... umm I guess I should show you the dance and then we can go step by step oK...what are you doing?" She asked as Amrita went into a corner and retieved some clothes from a bag. She handed each of them an indian cotton skirt.

"Well I see all the women here have on ghara cholis..so I guess we should wear skirts to. " She said putting hers on over her jeans.

"Kamal hain..." Sugni said, borrowing her husband's favorite phrase , as she to put on the skirt. "Now OK?' She asked. Amrita nodded. "Shall we start?" She said.

Amrita and Shanti took a seat in the corner as Amrita started the plyer to the first song. The vibrant music of the drums and lively voices soon filled the room as Sugni started dancing in beat with the music, he body moving naturally with the music and thought they were one.

After all these years, she still remembered the steps as though it was yesterday. Although Sugni hated dancing in front of Thakurs and their cat calls and whistles, she did enjoy dancing, getting lost in the music and releasing all the tensions, fears to the sound of the music. Whenever she performed with the women Sugni would close her eyes and just concentrate on the music, getting lost in it so that she did not have to think about where she was.

The sound of clapping got her attention as she realized the song was done and so was her demonstration.

"WOW Sugni ...that was beautiful...it is strange its such beautiful and intricate movements, how could this be so bad?" She asked really confused... Rai was nothing like what she thought it would be like, in amrita's head she was thinking seductive moves, plose dancing or something of that sort, what she saw was nothing compared to that!.

Sugno shrugged..."it's all in here..." She said tapping her head. "Some people na could make the most pure thing vile and others the most vie thing pure...I guess."

"So true...Anyways lets just concentrate on this beautiful dance nothing else...show me show me..." She said.

"Me too!. Mummy I want to learn..." Shanti said as she joined Amrita. Sugni looked at Shanti. She was smiling at them. Suddenly this did not seem like a good idea.

As if reading her mind Amrita said.

"Sugni...remember it's just for fun...it's all in here." She said tapping her head.

"You're right...Ok ...first clasp your hands together and closes your eyes...saying a prayer of thanks to Sita Miya for her blessings. Then we touch the ground...paying respect to the dance floor..." Sugni went on to explain the different movements of the dance as Amtira and Shanti eagerly followed.

*****\\\\\/////*****

Maa Thakur was on her way downstairs when she stopped as she herd the faint sounds of a familiar tune. A tune that sent her blood boiling; but that was impossible. No one in this house would be listening to rai that was for sure.. Still the sound was here. Turning in the direction of the sound she made her way down the corridor the sound getting louder as she approached the Amrita's work room. What?

She heard voices as she turned the knob and opened the door, watching in disbelief as Sugni was instructing Amrita and Shanti in the Raai dance. They were so caught up that they did not even notice her.

"What in hell is going on in here?" she asked loudly. Every one turned toward her with looks of guilt on their faces as Amrita moved to take off the player.

"N-n_naani maa!" She said.

"Wha Sugni..." Maa Thakur said looking at Sugni who had her head bent. "that did not take you long na ...to bring that filth into this house. How dear you...how dear you when you know that it is not all..."

"Naani ma...it was not Sugni's fault..." Amrita said going up to her. "I was the one who brought the CD and asked..."

"Amrita please...do not take for her..." Maa Thakur said not wanting to listen.."And you young lady" She turned to Amrita "I would think had better sense than that to be associated with this type of behavior. Stop being brain washed by her...the women of this house donot indulge in all of this...you hear me.?" She said

"bu..Maaji..."

"Enough. I don't want to hear from you!!! Maa Thakur Said dismissing her . "And you Sugni...you came out of the tradition , married My son but you are nothing but a be.."

"Maaji..." Sugni said stopping her. "One minute please..." She turned to Shanti "Honey...please go to your room...finish off that homework you had ok?" Sensing the tension, Shanti left quietly to go to her room.

"I am sorry maaji but she should not hear this..."

"Of course not...you have no problems teaching her al of this..but you have a problem being called a bedni..." She scoffed..."You astound me Sugni..playing all innocent...you know and this ..this is what you are influencing them...yet ashamed to be called what you are ..A BEDNI!" She said loudly..."you come here and bring that into my house...and no shame teaching it to your daughter you claim you wanted to protect...Wha...great way of keeping her out of it na Sugni...but then..of course you have to teach her...a bedni will do what she is born to do no matter wher she is na...!

"Maa!" Vickram said as he came up to them followed by Adi who was drawn here by the heated voice of Maa Thakur. Having just returned home from tennis practice both men were shocked to hear the commotion.

"What is going on here?" he asked. Maa Thakur was livid, Sugni was looking at the floor. Amrita was looking at Sugni with a look of guilt on her face.

"Sugni?" he asked...

"I'll tell you... Your wife, here was teaching Rai to Amrita and Shanti..."

"What?" Vickram asked looking at Sugni. She swallowed as she twisted her hands nervously, still not looking at them.

"Mamaji I .." Amrita started.

"I told you stay out of it..." Maa Thakur said... "Ask her for yourself..." She said.

"Sugni is it true?"

"Ye-yes..." She said softly as she nodded.

"See!" Maa Thakur said triumphantly..."Look Vickram , you married her and I accepted it...but there are some rules in this house...and I would appreciate it if you explained that to her. I will not have that in my house." She said scathingly as she turned and walked off.

"Sugni...I am so sorry.." Amrita said walking up to her. Sugni Shook her head ...fighting back her tears. "She's right...I knew better..., excuse me..." She said as she left the room quickly unable to look at Vickram who she could tell was not pleased with the scene.

Going to her room she went straight to the bathroom, where she cried as the words of Maa Thakur played in her head. Why did she give into Amrita's words she knew this could not end well...and she should not have let Shanti be there...Sugni spent her life shielding her daughter form it all yet she did not tell her no. OH God how could she be so stupid.

After a few minutes of berating herself ...she took a deep breath and washed her face. She was going to have to face him eventually. Wondering if this day could get any worse she opened the bath room door and stopped as she looked at Vickram who was standing there with his arms folded looking at her sternly. Sugni's gaze dropped to the floor. He was mad at her.

"Sugni?" he said

"Yes." She answered softly

"come here.." he said . Slowly she walked up to him.

"I am sorry..." She said before he could say anything. "I know I should not have done that... I knew better...but I-I..." She was twisting her hands again .

"You could not refuse Amrita, right?" He said. She nodded.

"I am sorry..."

"It's Ok ...I know she can be hard to refuse once she sets her mind to something..." He said. As he placed his hands on hers.

Sugni looked up at him. He did not look mad. ..."Y-you're not mad at me?" She asked in a soft voice.

"No...Amrita explained what happened..." He said . Sugni let out a relived sigh...

"I should have known better...I knew it was a bad idea but I just went with her..." She said...

"And Shanti...Maa Thakur is right...I did not think..."

"Hey Sugni...no you did nothing wrong with Shanti...you were teaching her a dance...same as if she would learn what she sees on TV. You did not have any bad intentions behind it, other than just a bit of fun ? Did you.?"

"No!" She said.

"Right...but I'll tell you this , as I told Amu...Rai in this house is not allowed. We have had a bad history with it..."

"I know..." She said. She was that history.

"I am not talking about you" He said as though reading her mind. "...but Adi's mother...she killed herself because her husband ran off with a bedni...and since then my mother developed an intolerance for rai, the music, the dance, the songs...We never have it as part of a function or anything..." He said.

"Ohh...I am sorry...I did'nt know"

"I know...but now you understand why she reacted the way she did?"

"Yes...of course...and I promise I won't do it again..."

"I know.." he said.

Sugni sighed...

"I guess I messed up with Maaji huh?" She said. "I just lost all the points I made with her?" Over the last week Maa Thakur was being slightly more cordial to Sugni when no one was around. This slight change in her behavior made Sugni happy as she felt she was on her way to gaining acceptance.

Now because of this...she was back in the black list!

Vickram nodded, as he raised his eyebrows and smiled sympathetically.

"Ohhh" She groaned sadly, resting her head on his chest... "Now what do I do?" She asked

Vickram chuckled.

"Well pray she forgets this..." He said as she looked at him exasperatedly. What type of advice was that...

OK..one apologize and chocolate !" he said.

"Chocolate?"

"Yes she has a weakness for chocolate..so make her something chocolaty.. a cake ...or maybe some sugar free brownies. She loves those..." he said.

"Really..what an Idea...I'll do that for dinner. I need to go to the store I am ..."

"Hey not so fast..." he said reining in her speed..." give her a little while to calm down maybe in a day or two...then you can start back your win MaaJi program...but for now leave her alone..." he advised.

"I guess you're right..." She sighed disappointed

Vickram hugged her, not liking the look on her face. "Hey...look it'll be fine...She'll calm down ...hmm don't worry. You had a rough day I know..so how about we go out for a movie...me you Shanti...I'll let you drive..." He said trying to cheer her up.

Really?." She said as she smiled brightly ..."Yesss!" She said as she kissed him. Pulling back k she looked at him

"I'll go tell Shanti...!" She left as Vickram smiled, glad to see that she no longer had that hurt look on her face.

hmmm what a chapter it was...
while reading i realized that sugni gave in is a big mistake and i could know what will happen next so maa saheb did just what i was thinking she would do 😉
Sugni has luck that vikram has brains and he used it unlike some other character who jump on shouting like an idiot and not solving the issues so here vikram has that peace of mind
he heard what happened from amrita and went to cheer his wife !! so for that i must say ... u r the best thakur vikram singh

any ways ... Sugni dancing i could remember her dance
so ... enjoy this one ... dedicated to this chapter
