Maa Thakur wouldn't accept Sugni with open

Vickram's misery and pain after she left.
Sugni will have to be well prepared to win Maa Thakur over. Shanti"s an
adorable child and Maa Thakur might relent easily towards Shanti and accept
her, while Sugni will have a tough job convincing Maa Thakur.[

today i read and enjoyed ... last chapter is so romantic or i i say lil naughty..😉

in previous one , i liked vikram feels a emotional bonding with shanti ... but i couldn't feel anything about sugni, ..i can't sympathies her.. u know why..and don't know why but this is very hard to swallow that she is mother of somebody else child...😡

but overall nice story despite of all, i liked her daring behavior in last chapter.. waiting for next..😳

CHAPTER 20

Sugni walked into the office building of Vickram's workplace.. It was the first time she had ever been here, but today was Shanti's Doctor's appointment ,and she was given the OK to return to school and her normal activity after having six weeks of recovery.

They were both happy that all was well now and so they decided to pay a surprise visit to Vickram and tell him the good news. Shanti was excited as she was all waiting to go to her "mom and dad's wedding"

Vickram was right when he called Amrita the wedding demon as she visited Sugni's apartment trying to convince her to have a very elaborate ceremony...somehow they managed to convince her to keep it simple, as she wished a temple wedding was all they wanted.

She relented only after they told her she could see to all the details if she promised to keep it very simple. She reluctantly agreed to that. In the meantime, while waiting they saw about the formalities such as putting u the notices for their wedding and applying for the license.

"WOW ...mummy dad works here?" Shanti asked looking around the office lobby wide eyed." Yes! On The 5^th floor...we get to ride in the elevators!" Sugni said.

"Cool"

As they made their way to the floor, Sugni looked around the professionally decorated offices. She made her way to the reception area, as the receptionist greeted them.

"Hello, how can I help you?" She asked.

"We'd like to see my dad...It's a surprise!" Shanti said before Sugni could answer.

"Uhh...Ok!" Sh e said smiling looking at her with amusement.! "What's your dad's name?" She asked

"Vickram." She said. The receptionist looked at her more seriously then at Sugni clearly confused as to why this child was calling her single boss her father for sure.

"I' am sorry ..we are here to see Mr.Vickram...It was supposed to be a kind of surprise."

"And you are?" She asked

"I am Sugni . His fiance." She said, feeling funny saying it.

"Oh...OK Ma'am..." She said.. "I see you can go right it the last room on the right" She said

"Thank you!" She said as she made her way to the office.

She entered another waiting area, that had another desk but no one sitting at it and behind it was a door that had his name on it..

Suddenly his voice came over the office intercom. "Chan can you bring me a cup of coffee please." He said. "And when you are done ...I have some papers you for you to take to Amrita."

Shanti was about to answer when Sugni put her fingers on her lips and went to the door...

She opened it and said...

"Chan is not here but can we come in?"

Vickram turned to the door to find them both standing there and smiled.

"Hey ...what are you two doing here...?" He asked.

"We came to surprise you!" Shanti said as they walked in..."And I have a gift for you." She hugged him. As she handed him a small pastry bag with some cakes.

"you brought this for me for me?...Oh thank you princess! And this is a very ver pleasant surprise.' He said resting the bag on the table. He Hugged Sugni kissing her on her cheek.

"So you finished with the appointment?" he asked Sugni..."What did the doctor say."

"He said she was fine, and all better now she can start going back to school and normal activity now."

That is wonderful...does she have to go back?'

"In a couple of months so he can check her progress."

"hmm" He smiled. With her getting the all clear wit would mean that they were going to tie the knot as soon as the Pundit gave then the closest date possible.

Just then the door to the office opened...

"I am sorry sir...I had to ...Oh!" Chan said as she observed them. "I just came to say I am back I stepped out for a minute" she said.

"It's oK...Umm...can you put this on a plate so we can share it...Shanti would you like a juice? " she nodded... "And two coffees please."

"Ohh no..." Sugni said...She already had cake..that is for you...and we can share the juice as I am sure she won't drink it all..."

"Sug.."

"I know what I am saying...she is just saying yes...but she is full." She told him.

"Ok...Just the coffee for me right now please and the juice." He said.

Chan entered the office and took the bag...as Sugni looked at her she looked familiar as she was trying to recall where she saw her before

"Ohh ..Could you give this file to Amrita...tell her we'll go with the 1^st proposal...hmm"

"Sure."

"Is Amrita Didi here?" Shanti asked hearing her name. Over the last few weeks Amrita and Shanti had become great friends, Shanti was in awe of Amrita who she thought was a real life fairy!

"Yes...she works here...you want to surprise her too?' Vickram asked.

"YES...YeSSS!!!!' She said excitedly. He laughed.

"Ok...why don't you go with Chan here and she will take you..." He said "I can talk to your mom."

"Ok..." she said as she left with Chan.

During this exchange Sugni was still trying to remember where she knew Chan from...and then she remembered, she looked from her to Vickram as it came back to her. As the realization dawned on her Sugni stared at him quite.

"Hmm" Sugni said after Chan and Shanti left..." I kept thinking it was too good to be true...and I was right"...: she shook her head as she laughed ruefully.

Excuse me? What?.." he asked confused by her tone.

She looked at him directly as she crossed her hands over her chest. "I did not win that prize did I? That was all your dong?" She asked

"Uhhh...Ummm" Vickram said as he closed his eyes guiltily. As he realized she saw Chan.

"I recognize her from when she came to drop off my "winnings'... You did that even after I told you to stay away..." She looked at him in shock, as she shook her head.

Vickram got up and went to where she was seated. He sat on the edge of the desk. "Sugni just wanted to help you out, I knew you told me to stay away from you but all I wanted to do was help. And I knew you would not accept it otherwise so I..." He trailed of as the door opened and Chan came in with the cup of coffee.

She quietly rested it on the desk as she left them alone and went back out.

Turning his attention back to Sugni Vickram said;..."Sugni I am really sorr..." He stopped when she put her fingers over his lips and shook her head.

"No no...don't say that...please..." She Looked at him directly. "Thakur Mallick I don't ever want to hear you say sorry to me again you have used it enough! and, you have nothing to apologize for."

"So you're not mad?" He asked moving her hand and holding it..

"No...I am not. How could I be?" She said. She looked at him as she sighed..."you know all this...the hospital, the rent...now this...I just feel like I am taking advantage of you..."

"Please , you're not...and don't bring up the rent thing again...it was just one month and you were not able to work...we are going to be married any way..."

"But I could have used my savings and ..." Sugni said, it was an argument they had when he inadvertently asked her when her rent was due and paid It for her, overriding her protest and Rita telling her she would not take it until she found a job.

Vickram said that although it was a generous offer, since she was Rita's only tenant at the moment she had to give her her rent and final notice so she could find a replacement when Sugni left.

"Sugni. Stop it. It's done ok, it makes no sense arguing about it."

"Hmmm..." She said. "You know you are going to spoil me..." She complained.

"Good! I want to...besides as my wife there is nothing you can't have...so you better get accustomed to it."

"But I like working and being occupied..., now that Shanti is better and will be at school, and you here all day...I'll get bored if I have nothing else to do." She said.

You won't be...you can work...or go back to school or anything you want really." He said.

Really?" she asked, surprised. All the Thakur's wives she knew spent their time in their havelies, seeing about the houses , which meant ordering the servants around without lifting a finger and then gossiping with each other.

"Of course ...why not...Amrita works here in our PR. Department...and she is always taking some kind of classes...which I am sure she will drag you into now. So you don't have to be bored But all that can be decided after we get married." He said, reaching over and taking the coffee cup.

"fisrt things first...I'll call the pundit today and get the date finalized." He said. "and umm.."

"What?" She asked as he seemed to be contemplating something.

"I think it's time I took you and Shanti home to meet Maa. Now that she is well enough" He said. He nodded..."Tomorrow we can all have dinner at home."

Sugni swallowed. Finally she was going to come face to face with Maa Thakur...It was a daunting thought. She knew this day would come eventually, but suddenly she was filled with dread. Maa Thakur made no bones about her dislike for Sugni before, and now with Shanti. Judging from what she heard from both Vickram and Amrita things have not changed.

"Hey!" Vickram said, snapping her out of her thoughts. "Relax , it's just dinner not an execution.I'll be there...don't worry."

"I know..I am just a little nervous is all..." She sighed as she smiled and stood up. "I guess it is time..." She hugged him.

"Well I better get going, lots to prepare for tomorrow...I'll see you later."

"Yep..Ok." he said as he kissed her cheek. "Don't look so worried ...it will be fine." He said

She nodded. As she stepped out of his embrace.

She followed him out where he took her to Amrita's office, she was busy chatting with Shanti over something.

"Hey Sugni!!!" She beamed as they walked in.

"Hi I hope she is not being any trouble," She said.

"Ohh no trouble at all...she is just sad she did not bring me any cakes...Such a thoughtful child"

"I'll share mines with you!" Vickram said

What a great idea...see Shanti I got some!" Amrita said enthusiastically.

"OK Shanti's let's say good bye ...and leave them to work...we need to get home."

Shanti walked up and exchanged hugs with both Amrita and Vickram. As she bid them good-bye.

"Wow! Mummy you look pretty!" Shanti said as her mother stepped out the room the next evening. Sugni wore a teal colored dress , she got as a gift from her first boss lady but never had a chance to wear it. It was the best dress she had and she figured, it would come in handy in impressing Maa Thakur.

Not that it would matter, but at least she did not look scruffy. Vickram did say it was just a normal dinner at his home, but having never seen him in anything less than suites or his White Kurta, that looked expensive, he was always impeccably dressed.

Maa Thakur was no less as well around the Haveli She always dressed elegantly. A hair never out of place.

"Thank you baby...come here." Sugni said as she knelt in front of Shanti and straightened her already smooth baby pink dress. "Now remember what I told you...you be on your best behavior tonight Ok."

"yes Mom...I know you told me ...I can't wait to meet my Grand Ma!" She said excitedly.

"Shanti baby, listen...Grand ma...might be a little different form Dad or Amrita didi or Adi Bhaiya ...she may not be as friendly." She said carefully.

"Why? Dose'nt she like us?" She asked

"Of course she will like you...but maybe not right away. It's te first time she is meeting you na.'She said

Shanti Nodded. "And you know the first time we meet new people it could be a little strange, like the first day you went to school, or when we came here...it took time for you to get to know each other na."

"Yes..."

"That is why...it might be a little strange and she might not talk as much...but eventually she will...but I want you to listen and don't pester her OK."

"OK" Sugni sighed. "Thank you baby...you look very nice." She smiled.

A few minutes after there was a knock on the door signaling Vickram's Arrival,

"Hey...you look stunning!" he said taking in her ..."My God." He stared making her blush as he hugged her kissing her on the cheek.

"HI daddy!" Shanti piped in coming to stand at her mother's side.

"And look at you!, as pretty as ever.!" He said as she to blushed as he knelt down to hug her.

"So you ready to meet your new grand ma?" He asked . She nodded. "I'll be a good girl...I promise " She said

"You are always a good girl aren't you?" he said

"Well let's go!' Vickram said as he stood up.

"One minute..." Sugni said as she went into the kitchen and brought out a cake she made.

Taking a deep breath, she smiled. "Let's go..."
