Even their argument was civil !!!!!!

This chapter was like the uneasy calm before the storm - I wonder what is brewing !!!!!

i guess MS was attacked by reva b4 so now she stays out of it and says nothing.. !!

Chapter 9

"Leave it ! I told you not to do that..go go now'" Sugni said sternly

"Buh..beti'I can't If I don't do this na , she will be mad.."

"I said I would do it. Ohh Ramu kaka you have been hurting since last night, go rest I will do it! " She insisted. Ramu Kaka looked at Sugni, who was staring at him with her hands on her hips and his mini rake in her hand. Reva maalkin had ordered that he plant these roses in the yard since morning , and he knew if she came out and saw it not done she would be mad.

His back how ever was really hurting'but he did not know if Sugni could handle it, she was a helpful girl'but this was his task. Since last night when she found out about his back pain she was like his little shadow today, insisting he go take some rest , however Reva malkin kept calling him to move something or the other and so resting was impossible. Along with doing her job , she would always find a way to come out and help him.

"Ramu Kaka go and lie down! I can see it in your face, you are in pain. Don't worry I will tell Maa Thakur. She will understand. And I will explain it to Reva Mallkin."

"Sugni , no'it is best you stay out of her way'" He said. Reva did not come out and out and say anything to Sugni after that night, although she kept shooting daggers at her if they happened to cross each other's path in the kitchen. Reva would insist that she left if they were in the same room and to prevent any more drama she did..although after two days Reva's appearance in the kitchen was rear.

"Ramu Kaka go I will plant these ok!."

"Ok..I will.." He sighed tiredly.'"but make sure that they are spaced about three feet apart around, the reds and yellows in between , and use the special fertilizers. But remember reds and yellows in between not together!. " he said giving her two bags of seeds one with red and the other with yellow seeds.. at the corner were pots, and other things she needed to set the flowers.

"ok Ok I got it" she said, taking the bags from him. " Go ahead. Get some rest. Don't worry!" She said.

After Ramu left Sugni set to work, placing the two bags on chairs she took the pots and lined them up in on the ground , setting them the correct distance apart. She took the heavy bag of fertilizer and began half carriying, dragging it to the front. She had no idea it would be so heavy! '

Vickram returned drove up the drive way early. He skipped the fields today as he had some other business to attend to that did not take nearly as long as he expected. He contemplated going to the fields, and avoiding home, but he also had some paper work to see about and decided he would busy himself in his study and avoid Reva all together.

He spotted Sugni as he parked the jeep 'she was struggling with a bag of fertilizer, he wondered why was she doing this when it was Ramu 's job to see about the outside. Coming out of the jeep he walked over to her side and took the bag from her.

"Thakur Mallick 'thank you..wow that is heavy!...can you place it to the front there please!" She said pointing to the small plot that was circled with empty flower pots. Carrying it over he placed it on the ground.

"Thank you!" She said again.

"Why are you doing this? Where is Ramu?"

"I sent him to rest, he was in pain from his back'" she explained

"Ahh well this could have waited.!" He said'for some reason he did not want to see her doing this kind of work.

"No'he has to get this planted today na.. besides if I did not insist , he was going to do this all by himself. I swear it took me a long while to convince him to do this, and I know he was not feeling well since last night, at dinner he could hardly sit and kakiji had to give him a pillow to rest his back as he sat'." As she spoke Sugni busied herself opening the bag and filling the little pots, all the while narrating the plight of Ramu kaka and her following him around. Vickram found himself smiling, as this as the Sugni he knew, that chatter box girl who spoke a mile a minute.

She was slowly returning back to her old self he saw, her helping Ramu was a natural to her as that smile on her face. In the two weeks sh e had been there , even Maa Thakur could not help but be impressed by her. As Sugni was the 1^st one she calle when she wanted help and he knew just how picky his mother could be about her house! But it came as no surprise to him , he knew Sugni would adapt. She was a hard person not to like.

"Thakur mallick?" Sugni said, watching him, he was smiling. She was please to see that. After observing Reva Thakurine Sugni wondered how those two got married. What ever made him smile though she was happy about that.

"Hmm'"

"Ramu kaka'he really is not well and needs to rest'if you would allow him some days off, please." She asked.. " I know he is needed around here..but I can do what he did'" She said earnestly.

'Sugni if he wants time off he can come ask, I 'll give it to him." Vickram said

"He won't ask!" She said. " Kaki said his back was paining for a while but he does not say anything, and well'he is always being called to do one thing or the other, and if he dose not well'." She trailed off she did not think he would stand her ill speaking his wife. But the truth was she would not understand that Ramu kaka was not feeling well, just as she seem not to understand that Chanda was away to have a baby and could not work!

Vickram nodded he knew what she ment.

"Ok ..i will go talk to him and make sure he gets the time of he needs , and even a doctor visit.!"

Sugni's face broke into a wide smile, "Really? Oh that would be very good'thank you'You know he is very stubborn!" She said.

Vickram laughed , "I know'he had been here for a while now and I can't remember the last time he took time for himself!" Ramu was one of his most trusted and loyal employees. Vickram realized that he was getting on in age now, maybe t was time to find him a replacement or to look into lightening his load around here.

Vickram stood by his window looking out at downstairs where Sugni was still planting the roses in the pots , she was almost done he saw. For some reason he was drawn to the window, just watching her.

After his talk with Ramu telling him he will go to the doctor's the next day and take as much time needed to recover properly. Vickram come in the house to work. But his mind kept running on Sugni, the way she made her request, the fact that she was willing to do something for some one else. He observed the way she approached her tasks. He smiled as he saw the way she moved, almost as through she was dancing, moving her head to some tune she was humming in her head.

For some reason talking to her, even if it was for a few moments always made his day. He could listen to her all day. On impulse he went down stairs , through the kitchen and made his way to where Sugni was working.

"Hey'need a break?" he asked . Extending one of the drinks towards her.

She turned surprised to see him standing in front of her holding two cold drinks in his hands. She was tired a bit and could use it.

"Thank you " she said taking the drink from him and opening it. Vickram looked around and saw that she had in fact finished planting all the roses in the pots.

"Wow you work fast!" He observed

She smiled, surveying her work. She had dirt smudges all over her face, her hair was in a mess, but somehow he found she looked adorable. "yep I just need to clean up and I am all done! Did you speak to Ramu kaka?" She asked.

"Hmmhmm, he is going to be seen by a doctor tomorrow, and we will make sure he follows the orders to the T '!" He said

She nodded seriously . 'Thanks for understanding , Thakur Mallic'you are really special!" she said

Vickram smiled. "I am not Sugni, I am human just as everyone else, and I know Ramu is not as young as he was, in fact I should thank you, for reminding me of that.'sometimes we tend to forget and take people for granted." He said, taking a sip from his own drink.

"And that is what makes you different. You see us as human'that is very rear around here." She said, "That is what makes you special," She said looking at him, he herd her laugh "your face is all red" She giggled. Vickram could feel his face heat up. He felt slightly embarrassed, he shook his head still smiling.

"Well you are good for my ego, a lot of people would disagree with you there!" He said, he did not have to go far, in his house alone no one understood him he thought ruefully.

"Well they are blind!" she said. Vickram chuckled. Sugni he was beginning to realize not only spoke very fast, she says exactly what was on her mind. She was like a breath of fresh air. She passed the back pf her hands over her forehead, and he noticed a that her palms were bleeding!.

"What happened to your hand?" he asked.

Oh..n-nothing 'I was trying to open the bag more and the knife sort of slipped'" She said.

"And you did not see about it?" he said , he was not pleased with that. "You should not be so careless, that could get infected'come on.." he said taking her by the elbow and leading her to the hose at the corner where he opened the piped and started washing her hands.

"Thakur mallick..what are you doing'I'll see about it after I clean up'it will just get dirty again!" She said tring to pull her hand away.

"Shh'wash your hands please" was his reply . Slowly she did as he instructed, washing her face as well to get rid of the dirt. As the water hit her hands, he winced at the slight burn on her palm. Vickram looked at her hands and he could see slight abrasions on her palms as well.

"You! Should be more careful." He said.Seeing her hurt was very displeasing to him for some reason. Holding her wrist lightly he began waling back towards the house.

"Thakur Mallick.." She began to protest, but he paid her no attention. On the way he saw one of his other workers and instructed them to clean up the plant area.

"Satisfied?" he asked her. Sugni looked at him confused, where was he taking her.? he crossed the foyer and was going up the stairs where he went into his study.

"Sit" he said indicating the chair next to the desk . Felling strange in here, Sugni took a seat , watching as he made his way to a cupboard in the corner. Her confusion turned to horror when she saw him pull out one of those medical boxes. Sugni had an irrational fear of doctors, medicine, and needles. Every time her mother took her to the doctor as a child Sugni would hide and scream her head off if she saw a needle in his hands ,that did not change much as she got older.

Vickram placed the small white box on the table and sat at the edge of the table. " let me see your hands." He said as he opened the box and took out some supplies to clean and dress her hand. Sugni gulped, that bottle looked like it would burn. Instinctively she placed her hands almost behind her back and trued closing her fist, but winced again at the pain.

He turned to look at her, was she hiding her hands? "Give me your hands!" he said.

She shook her head. "It's ok , Thakur mallic it's just a small cut na'It will be fine." She said .

"Sugni 'let me see your hands.' He said. He looked at her, she swallowed as she shook her head again, her eyes darting to the bottle and gauze in the table. Ahh she was scared.! Vickram smiled her expression was cute..

"Sugni 'I am just going to clean it and make sure it dose not get infected' you can't leave it like that as it will not heal properly, and you don't want it to get worse right?" he asked slowly. "come on, let me see your hands " he said softly.

"It'll hurt" She said childishly.

"No 'I promise" he said slowly she extended her hands towards his . Vickram took her hands as he began taking the the antiseptic filled gauze and gently began applying it to her palm."

"Sugni closed her eyes tightly .."Ohh maa! " She said as she began mumbling under her breath. Her face was scrunched up in such a manner you would swear she was in the world of pain. Vickram had to fight to hold back a laugh.

"Are you done yet?" She asked after a few moments.

"Hold on'almost." After two seconds

"Now?"

"No " Another two seconds

"Now?'

"Hey bhagwan..you know you are just like a child! I swear!" he said as he began bandaging her hand he looked at her.Her eyes were still scrunched up. "Or a drama queen"

"Hmm'. No I am not!" She said' "Now?"

"One down one to go!" He said looking at her other hand , he saw that it was not as bad as the first one.

She went on mumbling under her breath , as he prepared a fresh piece of gauze to begin working, Vickram looked at her face as he took her hand again, he found himself staring at her as he mindlessly cleaned her hand. She has a small tendril of hair that was loose on her forehead, he found himself wanting to move it, to caress away the lines on her forehead, to kiss' unconsciously he felt his hand raise almost touching her hair, until he realized what he was doing. What was he doing?

Pulling back his hand, he blinked rapidly, no'no'.this was not right! Vickram felt as though a bucket of cold water had just been doused on him.

"All done" he said slowly letting go of her hand. Sugni opened her eyes, she smiled at him brightly, a beautiful smile.

"Thank you Thakur mallick! ..that wasn't so bad. You I don't know why I get so scared about these things!" She said "It didn't hurt at all!" She said. She was examining her bandaged hand. As Vickram stared at her, her innocents, her bubbliness, her openness , her trust. He was feeling confused. What was happening here?

"Umm Sugni?'
"Hmm.."

"you can go now'" He said He needed to process this.

Sugni looked at Vickram, he seemed different from a few minutes ago, where she thought he was actually finding her amusing, now he looked almost like he was shocked. She wanted to ask him what was wrong, but something was telling her that might not be the best idea.

"O k'thank you Thakur Mallick" She said as she slowly walked towards the door.

"Sugni...?" he said

"Yes?"

"um take care of the hand'" he said . She smiled slightly as she left. Feeling confused about his change .

OMG Vinnie, what a superb, amazing and romantic chapter. I absolutely loved it. Finally reality struck Vikram and he has begun to acknowledge his feelings for Sugni and the way that happened was just so romantic, his concern for her injury, it was like he was in more pain than her😳 . I couldn't help blushing😳. I am eagerly waiting for him to confess his love for her and Reva's reaction when she finds out about this new development will be priceless.

very nice progress i liked it.. sugni is always caring for others and helping she took ramu kaka's job and did it .. I liked the way vikram came - the way he looked at her - some thing is starting to rise in his heart - this man is slowly falling in love with this girl - i was thinking - some one will come and see it but thanks to u no one came to disturb this magic moments - vikram to help sugni and sugni's being scared of doctors was funny u wrote it very well... u wrote his feelings / her feelings I liked it .. sugvi moment was nice !!! keep it up
