He can dance, he can sing and he surely can act very well!! This is the multi-talented Varun Badola for you all!! Fondly known as Sandeep Babu of Aek Chabi Hai Pados Mein, Varun gets candid with our Telly Buzz reporter just for his India-Forums fans.
Here is the actor answering the questions put forth by members of India-Forums...
Why does STAR Plus keep changing the time slot of Aek Chabi and no other serial?
I think it is for the channel to decide. We can only request. If they have followed a certain policy, they would not break it.
How is the track of Aek Chabi Hai Pados Mein proceeding now?
If I told you that then why would people watch it?? Well it is going to take a twist. It is something that people might have comprehended before. I think people will agree to what is shown, in the sense that people are used to watching happy endings and its not that we are not heading towards it!
We love 'Aek chabi... and think its really a unique show in the midst of melodramas everywhere. But why is it not getting the promotion it deserves?
The best that an actor can do is to speak to people like you and make audience aware about the show and whenever we get the time and opportunity, we try and speak about the show. But at the end of the day even our hands are tied up and there isnt much the actors can do except for talking to the media. I think nothing can be better when compared to the way in which channels promote their serials. When Aek Chabi was going on air, Star said they have stopped doing promotion and surprisingly today we see a lot of promotion for other shows. Believe me till date we did not get a single hoarding put up.
Has Star Plus indicated that you may have to wrap this unless ratings go up?
No nothing like that (Pauses) where do you want to see the ratings? At 7.30 slots you cant get great ratings as its a very awkward time. Having said this, I think Aek Chabi is one of the shows whose repeat show has more telecast than the original one.
Why does Suhasi disappear for at least one episode every month?
As she has got some prior commitments and also she is doing some films too!! (when asked is that the only reason, he replies)what else can it be!
Whats up with your hair? Any plans to cut it?
Yaa, planning to cut it by a hair stylist but, currently trying to give it some more length (grins).
When you direct and write Chabhi episodes, why doesnt your name appear in the credits?
It really doesnt matter to me. People who want to know, they know it right? When I would handle a show all alone then I would talk more on this issue, but currently I just pitch in as I am not the sole director of the show.
Will characters like Zoya, Vaibhav, Sagar, Sharmila ever return to the show?
They would but the problem is that nobody seems to find time now and everyone is busy with their shoots and this is the reason for their disappearance from the show!
It was Niraj slapping Kajol.
Admittedly, Kajol was confrontational in the way she spoke to the mother and he did ask her not to speak to her in such a way but even so you do not slap someone to stop them from speaking.Honestly there is too much "acceptable" physical violence on Indian TV.Anyway, Ronit I caught a tail of an Astitva episode. It is where Simran's mother dies and Abhi misses the funeral because he is out with Kiran all night long. You know Ronit I absolutely disagree with the way Abhi behaved towards Simran but even seeing only about 10-15 mins of this random episode I can see why Abhi fell for Kiran. On one hand there is Simran - mature, reserved rather than carefree, has a very demanding/responsible job, successful, established, part of family she loves, and there is/was everyone giving them a tough time about their relationship especially his motherOn the other hand there is Kiran - Carefree, he is more successful and established then her, they work together so she is with him all the time, has no friends or family so he has her undivided attention and is accepted by his mother so no stress.Things with Kiran are easy, fun, sort of what he expected his marriage to be but because of all the tension it never was so I think he fell for the "life style" rather than the person. I think if his relationship with Simran was not soo difficult (mainly because of his mother's constant fault picking) he would never have looked at Kiran twice. To that extent he reminds of Sugni -he says all these sensible laudable things but his actions are completely opposite.Just my point of view from what I have seen.
Actor Varun Badola praises his wife, actress Rajeshwari Sachdev, and says she doesn't fight over his erratic working hours as she understands the demands of the
profession.
The 36-year old is currently playing a rich and powerful man, Thakoor Vikram Singh, in "Phir Subah Hogi" on Zee TV.
"When you are working in a daily soap, there is no fixed working hours. I am lucky that Raj (Rajeshwari) is from the same profession and understands it completely. There are no cat fights between us when I come late from shoot or can't give time to family," Varun told IANS. The couple has an year old son, Devagya.
After working as an assistant director with Tigmanshu Dhulia, Varun made his acting debut in 1994 in the TV show "Banegi Apni Baat", but became popular after Ekta Kapoor's "Koshish Ek Aashaa" and later did shows like "Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chaand", "Astitva...Ek Prem Kahani" and "Aek Chabhi Hai Padoss Mein".
Varun, who was seen with wife in dance reality series, "Nach Baliye", says it's an uphill task to work with your real life partner on reel.
"I always feel it is easier to work with someone else's wife instead of your own. Everyone expects you to have an amazing chemistry, which puts unnecessary pressure on me. If we ever work together, then I think our performances will be the last thing that people would judge. We would be judged for our chemistry," he said.
