Hi Everyone
Komal - thank you for starting the thread. Love the rules.
I have never watched an Indian serial before PHS and will never watch another one again. So I had never heard of Varun Badola. But he has really impressed me.
He has amazing screen presence. He is a very talented actor whose ability to use body language, facial expressions and his eyes to express his emotions is fantastic. He is also blessed with a strong voice so that when he speaks people stop and listen. He does not need to raise his voice to be heard. He reminds me a lot of Amitabh Bachchan, the strong arresting voice, screen presence and ability to dominate a scene simply by being in the frame even if he has no dialogue.
His entry scene on the train was amazing due to a perfect harmony of fantastic screen presence and a fantastic background score. It was the same when he strolled into the sardhakai scene.
I love all his scenes in PHS especially the ones with TJS and Sugni because they both have similar screen presence and therefore it brings the scene vividly alive. I think that's why when TVS, Sugni and Adi are in a scene Adi come off looking weak because unfortunately he does not have the same screen presence or a strong voice. My all time favourite scene is the double meaning scene.
May I suggest that we put:
- the link to your thread that has all his scenes
- the links to all the VMs on one page (yours, Saima's, Vinnie's)
- all his quotes in one place (Hindi and English version as my Hindi is a little weak). So far I think I have heard 4:
o when he was looking at Sugni's pictures on a projector
(Kabhi Kabhi diye ki lou si, Kabhi Jalti Mashal
Ek Suljha Suljha sa jawaab, Ek uljha uljha sa sawaal,
Ek Sab kucch kehti Khamoshi, Ek chup Chup sa Khayal,
Ho kya Tum, Nadi ho, Hawaa ho, Zameen ho, aasman ho, Pyaar ho ki takraar ho
Dhadkan ho, saans ho, Paani ho ya Pyaas ho
Hosh ho ki ek bikhra hua sa haal...
Ek Suljha Suljha sa jawaab, Ek uljha uljha sa sawaal) /
(ENGLISH TRANSLATION...)!
o when he was at Panchayat and quoted Chanakya
(Hindi phrase)/
(ENGLISH TRANSLATION...).
(Qadam Ghalat Para Tha Kabhi Raah-e-Shoq mein, Manzil Tamama Umar Mujie Dhundti Rahi) /
(I set one wrong foot in my imbecilic mood, in life. My goals, my fate, my destiny kept searching for me for the rest of my life.)
o when he was talking to Purvi
(Jis afsane ko anjaam tak lana ho na mumkin, use ek khoobsoorat mod dekar chhodna achchha hai)/
